We contracted for exterior paint in 1998 prior to a Christmas House Tour and then again in 2013 for a "spruce up" prior to our daughter's wedding. November 2015, we brought Mohr Painting back and they are now in progress of painting the 1st floor interior of all walls,ceiling, and trim in powder room, mud room, dining, living, family room, kitchen, foyer, hall and stairwell. Bernie and Frank Mohr and assistant painter, Steve, are courteous, accommodating, and take pride in their work. They clean-up after each day and take care that furniture and floors and interior closets are protected from preparation stage through final enamel of trim. The job is coming along as scheduled (with 4 areas completed in 2 days) and should be completed within one week from start. We took the time to get additional estimates from painters in 1998, however, Mohr was the most reasonable with excellent references. We haven't felt the need to get estimates from anyone else to compare since then because we are extremely satisfied with their pricing, skills and service. Five stars!

After we hired and placed our deposit of $3,000 the work was scheduled and was completed but from the beginning there were issues with the paint adhering to the cabinets. They did not properly sand or fill in different areas of the nail holes, blemishes caulking, and other blemishes they never fixed. The paint streaked and shows fingerprints constantly. We called the owner multiple times to ask him to come take a look immediately after the job was completed. They tell us he is always not available or out of the country. He is always going to come look when he answers a text but never does. They want us to send them pictures of the problem areas but after paying a total of $6,000 and they get their money they are gone!!! Completely disappointed in the workmanship and customer service!!! Just buy new cabinets. We never even received our touch up paint because Yanni couldn't be bothered to come back and see the faulty job.

Briefly, we bought an apartment in an old Center City building that was suffering from hideous, drab brown walls that sucked the life out of the place. When we contacted Vandele, they were prompt and professional (unlike another painter who bailed on us at the last moment), first in scheduling an estimate - at a really competitive price - and then at scheduling the job itself. They even met us halfway with the price of a paint that we'd really loved, even though it should have been a higher cost. They offer a design consultation, which happened about a week out from the start date. My partner and I had already spent quite a bit of time thinking through color schemes, so this session was more of a chance to have a professional listen to us and reassure that what we wanted to do would look good. I think if you are more uncertain of color, you could get a real consultation and recommendations, but in our case, we just needed someone to tell us to stop looking at paint sample cards, that we had made a great choice. It's a small thing, but these nice, small things are what separate Vandele from others. On the day of the painting, the painters showed up on time, first thing in the morning. They would be there every morning on time for the next 4 days, just as the company said they would. I cannot tell you how much of a relief it is to have people do what they say, to not be worried the job won't get done, to have to be calling to find out what is going on, arguing to get what you are paying for. Since both of us work, it was wonderful to leave the apartment in the morning and know that we would not have to worry about the painting during the day and would be able to return at night to see the progress made during the day. They did their job while we did ours. After 4 days of work, the apartment truly looked like a different place. In the end, that is probably the most important part of the job and they excelled at this as well. Everything looked clean and skillfully done, no sloppy splattered paint where it didn't belong, no missed spots or not enough coats. Just clean edges, vibrant paint and a beautiful apartment that we could now call our own. After the job was complete, we did have one issue, but the way Vandele handled it makes me want to recommend them even more. We initially went with a bold color in the bathroom and immediately regretted our decision - the painters repainted it white the next day. After the job was completed and we resumed showering, immediately we realized that the paint was not handling the moisture well, as it looked like it was literally sweating out yellow paint. We contacted Vandele and showed them the problem; they agreed that the bathroom-specific paint was not used with all of the changes and offered to repaint the bathroom at no charge in a timely manner. I sent a request a quote message and ended up chatting with John, the owner, the same day. He stopped by to see my project, sent me a quote, and within days he and his crew were at my house! We needed our front railing, front door, and roof deck railings to be sanded down and re-painted. Our house is only four years old but, as we've discovered, new construction doesn't always equal the best quality. John and his crew showed up bright and early around 8:30am, and worked tirelessly in the sun until the project was finished around 4pm. John explained the differences in the types of paint he needed to use for the railings and door. Everyone in the crew was friendly and careful about their work space - by the time they left, you wouldn't have known they were even here, aside from their gorgeous handiwork! My husband and I think the railings and door look even better now than they did when we bought our house. My only regret? Not taking before and after photos!
