I just bought a townhouse and was looking to get some rooms painted. I had a short deadline between closing and when the movers would be showing up as I wanted to get the painting done before the furniture was placed. Mike was really quick and fantastic in communicating, with a very reasonable quote. He mentioned he used Benjamin Moore paint and I was happy to narrow my search within.... because there's a million paint choices and picking a brand was so much less stressful. He was able to meet me at my house a few days later and I left my keys with him. He was able to meet my request of meeting me after work at the house to get keys back and for payment. We did a walk-thru and I was very impressed with his work. The paint job is very professional and would certainly recommend him to anyone. Finding listings for painters is easy - finding one who will actually come out, provide an estimate and show up to do the job as promised to the highest level of competency is entirely another matter. I am very happy to say that TJ's Painting in Mount Laurel does all that and more. TJ's was one of 8 painting companies I contacted to paint the interior rooms and trim throughout our house. One company came out, talked a great game and then never sent the estimate - after 4 weeks of waiting, we scratched them off of our list and contacted TJ's and 6 other companies in the South Jersey area. Mike Brennan, the owner of TJ's Painting showed up promptly for the appointment, did a quick but thorough walk-through of the house noting everything that we wanted done which included some water stain cover-up, drywall repair and trim replacement. Mike promised a speedy estimate and true to his word; the estimate arrived in my email within a few short hours. The other 6 painting contractors aren't even worth mentioning except to say that of the top 8 painting contractors in the Mt. Laurel/Marlton/Medford and South Jersey area; the ONLY one to consider and call is TJ's Painting. The estimate was exact to the dollar and the time estimated to do the job was also exact - 4 days. On the morning of the first day, Mike was on-site to make certain his crew knew what the details of the job were and then left two of his crew; Jason and Frank to handle the entire job over the course of the 4 days. I truly cannot say enough good things about Jason and Frank - they handled every aspect of the job from moving any furniture required (and I felt terrible that they moved our massively heavy furniture on their own) to painting every wall and piece of trim perfectly. Professional, efficient, very pleasant and easy-going and absolutely expert at what they do. Our house was one of the designer models for the development and it looks as if it was brand new thanks to their hard work and efforts over the past 4 days. Called Mike at TJs Painting to paint my old oak cabinets. I was hesitant to have strangers in my house with the virus, but Mike came with mask and booties. Mike and Tom just finished up at our house after painting 11 rooms over the course of 7 days. They did a great job in every single room, including a staircase which involved a lot of detail and a good aesthetic eye. They also went above and beyond patching every single nail pop, painting every ceiling, door and trim around each room/door. They worked efficiently and cleanly. They were great to be around and I felt very comfortable leaving the house with my wife and baby there. The price was also more than fair. We are getting a lot of work done to our house and working with Mike and Tom was easily the best experience we've had. read more

We HIGHLY recommend this company!! My husband and I were very wary because we had such an awful experience with a previous company that painted part of our house. We had Mike start by painting the bedroom to see what it would look like. Not only did he get the job done quickly but it was immaculate. We were impressed and immediately hired them to paint the rest of the house. My husband and I are VERY Happy!! TJ's painting company did such a great job. I was really hoping to have had a good experience with this place, as most others on here seem to have had. Things were good at first, Mike responded right away and came out to look at my place on a Saturday morning even though it was snowing that day. I even mentioned to him how a few other companies I'd called had left me hanging, and he sympathized with that. But, after all that, he went and did the same thing. I never heard back from him after that, even with repeated attempts to contact him via e-mail and Facebook. It's a shame because I had some work for them to do for my parents as well. read more

Unfortunately, we had wallpapering done by them before Thanksgiving... The Wallpaper guy was very sloppy and left wall paper glue all over the woodwork in my study. He took frequent smoking breaks. He worked very slowly...possibly because he works by himself. I cannot explain the sloppy glue left on my desk, shelves and drawers. Also, he broke one of my shelves. He said he would call the next day to give us the amount of the estimate. We never heard back from him.......EVER! My husband called 3 times without a response. I don't usually give bad reviews, but the level of professionalism I experienced is worth my time. I scheduled an appt with Mike from TJ's Painting who came to my house today. He was supposed to give me an estimate to paint my two-story family room, ceiling, kitchen, and upstairs hallway. When he arrived, I put on a mask, went to the door, looked through the peep hole and saw he wasn't wearing a mask. He said he was from TJ's Painting, as I expected. I asked, "Do you have a mask?" (I was prepared to give him a new one if he didn't have one.) And he answered, "Why would I have a mask?" I thought I may have heard him incorrectly and said, "Excuse me?" He again, repeated "Why would I have a mask?" Caught off guard, I asked "Did you really just ask me WHY you would have a mask??" He turned around and walked away. So rude and unprofessional! He had no knowledge of whether someone in my house had COVID, or if I, (a cancer survivor), was immunocompromised. The professional thing to do would have been for him to say, "No, Miss. Would you prefer that I wear one?" Especially since this is MY house, and I would be hiring HIM to work for ME. No one servicing my home has ever had a problem with this. It would serve him well to educate himself on how to interact professionally with all potential customers and respect a homeowner's wishes on their property. read more

This rating is based on customer service. I used them many years ago and they did a decent job painting. We were considering using them again for a kitchen remodel and saw that they were not wearing masks while working on their Facebook story. I sent a private message asking why no masks as that is something I am not comfortable with during this pandemic. Instead of responding, I was blocked on their Facebook page. I then sent an email to their owner and that was ignored as well. If safety is a concern for you, I would NOT recommend them. I'm very disappointed. read more

the work is decent besides some of the corners they cut that you wont notice such as covering paint stains with furniture.. charging customers for 2 coats and only using one. the motto is if the customer doesnt notice it it flys! there is a few employees who like to smoke marijuana cartridges right in the customers house and vape freely as if it was their own. ive personally worked for them and was never paid for the work i did even know the owner rented a ferrari to "mess around with" the week i was never paid. theyre foreman also finds it amusing that you are being overcharged!if you dont mind men lurking in rooms they shouldn't be, smoking weed in your house, and getting one coat of paint when you pay for 2, then these are your guys! read more

I really wanted to give TJ's Painting Company a 5 star, but unfortunately I can not. The overall look after all was complete looks great, but I can't say I didn't hold my breath all week. My husband and I purchased our first single family home together and loved the fact that it had original hard wood floors. The painting team did not properly cover them and got paint thinner all over, causing permanent damage. Another accident happened that I thought was resolved, but the team left with a huge chunk out of our ceiling and never repaired it. A week or two after the job was complete, I found that cabinets were not painted underneath, the tops and sides of window trim were left unfinished, doors got stuck due to reassembling before completely dry, and we have been chipping dried paint off hardwood floors. The father of the company DID come back and repair the issues after many emails with the team. Overall, I was unsatisfied with the communication before, during and after the job was complete. I truly wanted to give this team a great rating, but for the amount of money we spent we shouldn't have had to clean up and repair as much as we did. read more

I met Mike for an estimate on Thursday who told me he could start as quickly as Sunday. I called him Friday to move forward and have yet to hear back.
