It's modern, clean, and easy to navigate even with large crowds. They've got all the typical mall shops like NEXT, Sephora, etc. I've only been here one other time and that was a couple of years ago. My main purpose for visiting was to see an art installation that will only be on display until October. It's called MCR Made by Stanley Chow. The art is inflatable likenesses of Manchester icons such as the Gallagher brothers, Aitch, Ellen Wilkinson, Maxine Peake, Alan Turing, and others for a total of 13 figures. I was on the visit purely for the Gallagher boys. Fantastic pieces of work. In addition, while I was there, a Pride event was going on. It was great getting to watch the amazing performers. All-in-all this is a pretty decent mall for all your needs and wants.

Some of the bags are literally as good as new. The older the collection the cheaper the price usually (unless it's Chanel...of course). All bags are checked for authenticity so you can rest assured you're buying a genuine item. The staff couldn't be nicer, and they're not pretentious or overbearing so I often just go in for a browse without any pressure to buy. Golden purchase - a hand embroided, leather Dior bag. Rumour has it Urban Splash founder Tom Bloxham even had a stall here selling bootleg Inspiral Carpets and Happy Mondays tees. These days, Afflecks is a bit of a ghost town. There are still dozens of stalls selling everything from vintage and secondhand clothes to military wear, drugs paraphanelia, henna tattoos, wind-chimes and furniture. Sadly, there aren't as many old goths, rockers, emo teens and ageing punks as there used to be and you can sometimes walk round the whole building without seeing anyone other than the staff!

It's also really beautiful as well. It has different areas in the mall that are themed based off different parts of the world and they did a really great job of creating that aesthetic throughout the mall. The staff we spoke to were also really nice and friendly. I overall had a good time and would recommend coming here for a shopping trip if you are near the area.

It is a cute little shop in the Northern Quarter selling clothes (Cutie, Gorgeous - brands like that- yes please), vinyl toys, plastic headbands and jewellery. The till area and near the fitting rooms are like if a harajuku girl started up her own branch of Accessorize. They sell Hello Kitty, Paul Frank, Emily Strange and the clothes aren't even that expensive - I tried on a spotty grey/ purple dress for £18. There was a fair amount of the old leopard print and plenty of sequins and sparkle for autumn parties ahead. Also towards the back I found a Herve Leger style bandage dress with an exposed zip. Ok, fair enough all the 'slebs were wearing those six months ago but I think in Normal-Time that's still a good buy.

There's a lot to be said for small vintage shops as you can do all your rummaging quick sharp, and this place is perfect for that very purpose. As previous Yelpers have confirmed the stock rotation is indeed frequent, so be sure to pop in any time you're in the Northern Quarter. One of the things I love about this titchy boutique is the shoes... the brunette and I were drooling over little red pixie boots for quite some time. There are plenty of customised one-offs and second hand garments to choose from, and no doubt anything you buy from there will attract envious attention from friends. Unfortunately it doesn't cater for men, however a great many high street fashion shops don't either, so I don't have a gargantuan issue with that. The staff are very friendly and appropriately quirky themselves, so if you're stuck for inspiration you can always have a gander at what they're wearing. Prices vary depending on the item but no label has made me gasp in agony thus far. And I had no idea about the buy one get one free sales, so thanks to Alexandra I'll certainly be looking out for those in the future! And who can resist aqua-marine, well, I can't. This store has done extremely well in making itself conspicuous amongst the many shabby chic boutiques along Oldham Street, and it has definitely earned its place as one of the shops that very much makes the Northern Quarter feel like the Camden of Manchester. It was the first store where women of the day felt comfortable and safe shopping alone.... Growing up in the UK my parents would take me there at least once a year (almost every time we visited London actually - so maybe 3-4 times a year. Yes there were upmarket things, and recently we were there and sure there are many expensive brands with absurd prices. But there are also more "normal" goods for sale. Not so much in Manchester - all Louis Vuitton and simile booths all around. A good friend who knows London very well explained that the smaller Selfridges don't have the room for affordable goods and it is all for the very affluent. I do think this is a good department store, it is one of the largest and more high-end department stores in the city centre, which is a fading game with Debenhams on Market Street closing and House of Fraser on Deansgate soon to follow. The store looks pretty good and is opposite Marks and Spencer in the Manchester Arndale, sadly Selfridges doesn't have a Food Hall similar to their other branches, at this location, this is a real shame - perhaps that is due to the Basement level of Marks and Spencer (a different business) having a large food section? There are two different San Carlo restaurants in terms of eating or drinking inside, I would have loved to see at least a different brand to add something a little more different, similar to what you see in other department stores such as Harrods etc. They do have some unique experiences here occasionally, Manchester City did bring the Premier League and Carabao Cup trophies here a couple of years ago which was super exciting for me as a big City fan. It can be pretty difficult to navigate at first, but they do have a store plan which is somewhat helpful, the store remains modern and clean. TL;DR - Still great, even under social distancing…read more My first trip out after lockdown and Hatch seemed like a great idea. With all the outdoor seating it's probably one of the safest places in town to grab some food. And we were pleasantly surprised at how they've adapted to social distancing. Entry/exit is limited through a single entrance to the site which is manned. Upon arrival you're greeted and have the rules explained to you. First up you scan a QR code to log your contact details for government track and trace. Then you go to a table and scan the QR code there which brings up the menus of all the food and drink vendors. You can order what you want from any vendor, pay for it through the app and they bring it right to you. As always, good food and drink were on offer. I had a Portuguese chicken burger, Mark had a platter of fried vegan goodies. Once you're done you clear your own table. There's plenty of hand sanitizer as you enter the site, and most of the staff are masked and gloved. We were also delighted to see some staff cleaning tables just because someone had lingered nearby - they're doing a great job of keeping the site safe and clean. I still feel a bit weird about going out since the virus is still out there, but the social distancing and rules they've put in place at Hatch means this is probably one of the smartest choices you could make for eating out right now.
