My journey with Heather started about 10 months ago when I hit a point in my life where I was ready to make better choices regarding my fitness, my nutrition and my overall approach to healthy activity that didn't just include my daily walks with my dog. I was skeptical about finding a personal trainer. I grew up as a very competitive swimmer and getting MORE than enough exercise in the pool. After experiencing a major shoulder injury in my last year of high school, my swimming career ended abruptly. I will say that not only was there physical pain, but a lot of emotional distress as I knew everything I had worked for in the swimming world had come to an end. I went off to college, did the college thing, ate bad food, slept til noon and didn't get much physical activity that wasn't involved in tailgating and making my way to class each day. Fast forward to last December (30 years old): I had a job that had me in different cities 3 times a week and dinner consisted of restaurant food or Cheez Its... needless to say my figure quickly went out the window. As the traveling started to wind down, I knew I wasn't happy with how much I'd let myself go. That's when I found Heather. I can truly say that taking that leap was one of the greatest things I've ever done and by far one of my greatest accomplishments. I'm stronger, happier, more active and got my confidence back. There have been several obstacles for me this year but Heather has been consistent about supporting me, motivating me and most of all, being a friend that brings out the very best in me. Always pushing me to be better, always checking on me during and after our work outs and coming from a truly genuine place... I could not be more grateful to her for helping me on this journey. I'm a former D1 athlete and I thought I knew everything when it came to working out with weights, bands, and cardio. As I got older, previous injuries were taking a toll on my body. As a competitive athlete, you push through, right??? For years, I watched the owner's, Heather and Roger, work with several people in my condo association gym. It was obvious they knew what they were doing. If someone struggled with a specific exercise, they immediately adapted the task so they could finish and be successful. Proper technique was always key with them. I took a leap and decided to workout at their gym, Made Possible Personal Training. When I came to them, I could hardly lift my left arm without pain. I'm disappointed. Disappointed that Heather left New Zealand to head back to the US and I lost my awesome PT! Heather is amazing and I can't recommend her enough. I met her when she was working in New Zealand and I was lucky enough that I got a coupe of months training with her. I'm not a natural in terms of pushing myself to exercise, and the whole concept of working out is a bit daunting to me. However, Heather quickly pushed that daunting feeling away and made me feel totally at ease, and within one session she made me want to come back for more. She is a such genuine person with a kind heart, and will put any person at ease regardless of their situation. You can see that her work as a PT is so much more than just earning money - she really cares and wants to make a difference. Heather has a knack of knowing how an individual needs to work, whether hard core or a softer approach - I've seen both styles with her and I feel I sat in the middle - she pushed me in a way that suited me, working me hard and making me hungry for it, without me resenting it. Heather and Roger are the best! I meet so many people my age who "used to do that" snow ski, water ski, bike, hike, workout etc. Now I'm like one of those people you see in adds that say hey i'm in better shape now than I was ten years ago. The thing here is that I really am. When i was turning 55 I was a "used to do that" guy. Most things I liked to do when i was younger resulted in pain and disappointment rather than fun. Now I'm turning 65 and all of these things are possible and fun again. I could not have gotten here without the shared dedication of Heather and Roger to my well-being and fitness. These folks have a way to motivate and challenge me that makes me want to work on myself to achieve new things. I, like many people, work out because I have to. I would much rather play sports, but that gets harder when you don't have a team of people to play with! I get bored easily going to a gym or going to traditional classes. My husband and I found Made Possible Fitness six years ago and I have not been bored yet!
