Maxol Filling Station
This filling station is, to sum it up, a bloody nightmare if you just want to get some fuel and go,…read morelike most filling stations it has a shop attatched, and although they probably make more money from the shop that they do in fuel, they would need to sort the infrastructure out a bit, Picture the scene, van with 3 hi-viz clad blokes pulls in at the pump, one bloke puts fuel in whilst the other two sit there, then all three go into the shop and spend the next 15 minutes wandering round the place before getting someone to make them a sausage and bacon soda. Repeat this for every pump and you get the picture. On top of this, the queues at the till are quite slow due to the amount of rigmarole surround fuel cards that everybody seems to use, then they pay seperately for their Daily Sport, Red Bull and 20 Regal whilst you quietly fume. All in all, best avoided during a weekday unless you're running on fumes!

Welcome to the future! Forget queueing up at the pumps or the cash registers to pay for your fuel,…read morejust go to Go! If you haven't been to one of these garages yet you're missing a trick! The fuel is as cheap as any of the other garages out there and you can be in and out in 5 minutes, plus it's 24 hour! The reason I used this service was because the other garage I go to was closed as it was after 11pm. The self service machines are easy to operate and while you're filling up your car the touch screen monitor plays a video explaining where your fuel was sourced from and how it got to you. I actually found this interesting - turns out Go provide the fuel for all of norther Ireland's buses and train so it must be good. There's loads of pumps so you won't have to wait and as previously stated the fuel is exactly the same price as the high street rivals (Tesco's, Asda etc). I can't think of a reason not to give Go five stars!

The other two are Maxol stations with modern Spar stores joint on whereas this garage is a little bit old school, with a smaller more personal local shop attached. There are six pumps here selling unleaded and diesel, they also have a vacum service as well as an air machine for altering the pressure in your car - the air machine takes coins (20p) so there's no need for tokens or to even go in to the shop if you wish to use this service. The shop is paypoint friendly meaning you can top up your gas and electric here - they also serve a small selection of hot pastries and everything else you'd expect from a local corner shop. There's often great food deals on - the counter next to the checkout has the best bargains. The staff are fantastic here, always ready for a chat and generally pretty chirpy! It's next door to a chippy and a chemist too! No ATM at this garage but they are okay about using card for smaller transactions! Needs modernised slightly but does the job just fine!

The off sales section is in the back corner and although not particularly big has a good selection of drinks. There is plenty of parking and an in store cafe. For many years I used to work nearby, and this would have been somewhere I called into most days and done the bulk of my weekly shopping here. They have a large car park outside, and a covered trolley bay and cash-point before you walk in. The store is large, well stocked, clean and spacious. I was able to get a lot of items here that were unavailable elsewhere. They do great lunchtime offers and they stock a range of sandwiches and flatbreads from a local Northern Irish company called Deli Lites, which are absolutely delicious, and it's always satisfying to know they are supporting local businesses. They also have a fantastic salad bar where you can make yourself a small, medium or large salad with a fab range of salads, pastas, boiled eggs, etc, or you can choose something hot from their deli counter. Their chicken fillet burgers are really tasty! This Sainsbury's also has an on-site cafe which I've eaten in a few times, and it's always been good!

It is sandwiched between a BP Garage and a cheaper Tesco's Petrol station just up the road. The main pulling power of this garage is the Spar and ATM. The Spar is really well stocked selling fruit veg, magazine, newspapers, cigarettes as well as the usual household items. Not too many garages sell gas canisters and coal these days but this one does, worth noting, especially in the winter months. Serves its purpose but it's not going to win any prizes for value but it might for convenience.

They also do steam cleaning for MOTand PSV checks. The car wash is operated by two people which makes it quick and efficient when there is a line if cars waiting which is common on a Saarurday. All in all its hard to beat this car wash , so if you live in the area or maybe out for a day trip you might wish to avail your car of this service and wash off all the muck from our lovely country roads .

It is also useful if you are with toddler who is petrified of the usual petrol station car wash machines, as it is all manual. Extreme Clean offer a car wash for £5 which is good value and they will give your car, van or lorry a coat of wax for an extra pound. One extra little thing they do is clean the inside of your doors and your alloys. I must admit that I was a little bit worried that I was going to get soaked when the attendant reached for the door handle, all those childhood super soaker moments came flooding back, but to my surprise I stayed bone dry and the inside of the door looked nice and shinny. The service was excellent, the wash took 5 minutes and the car was gleaming, we even splashed out on a coat of wax. Big spenders eh? The one other thing I learned about this business is that it sells gift vouchers far all its services including valet. So why not show someone how much you love/hate them by treating them to the ultimate car wash experience.
