For those unfamiliar, a letterpress is an old-fashioned, manual printing machine; the kind invented by Johannes Gutenberg that was used from the 15th to 18th centuries. Steam Whistle uses several of these restored machines that date back to the 1940s. Their paper cutter dates back to 1903! They also have over 100 cases of lead type as well as hand-carved wood typeface and designs. Their shop has plenty of papergoods to choose from off the shelf, or you can do a custom order if you need, say, birthday invitations printed. Steam Whistle sells individual greeting cards and postcards, stationery sets, leather bound books, and posters. I picked up a vibrant Cincinnati poster that matched my room decor perfectly. Every print in the series is different, since each press of the paper is done by hand. Even with the same design, no two prints are alike.
