    Cigar and drink menu
    Chy R.

Stopped here on a whim on a rainy night. The haze of the cigars offered a reprieve by transporting us to another era of underground speakeasy and the feel sweet mahogany. The bar is beautifully back dropped against an exposed brick wall. They had an impressive list of spirits and cocktails. It was challenging to order a French Martini though. They didn't have Chambord and instead the helpful bartender offered to make one using a raspberry liquor. It didn't come out as tasty as a true French martini but it was garnished very beautifully with lemon peel, and served in a delightful martini glass. A true cigar snob would find this sacrilegious anyways to drink a martini with a hearty, fine Nicaraguan cigar. A pour of their 12 year aged Macallan will set you back a cool $15 but well worth it just for the hip factor. The Lulu's Birthday made with elderflower liqueur, along with notes pear was refreshing and offered a transformative floral note on the tongue. I have to give a shout-out to our bartender who was very helpful and even brought our ice waters, unprompted. My only real complaint would be the couches. If they just added some actual bolstered, couches, it would truly set off that Lounge-y feel.

I wish this place was near my home... old school cigar bar... great selection of fantastic smokes and cocktails... reasonably priced.

Ok I know it's a cigar bar and I don't smoke cigars but it's a really cool place for drinks if your in the square. This place is very cool with exposed brick walls leading up to the decorative old school tin ceiling. There is a cool comfy seating area around the fire place that would be awesome on a winter day. There is a nice out door seating area in the front if you want to chill on a nice day. There is plenty of comfy leather chairs with sturdy tables to hold the heavy ash trays. The beverage selection is top notch hands down with with craft beers and good liquor. Some Wana be chump came in and ordered a light beer and he was told that we don't have any light beer, only micro brews are served here. I had some aunt Sally's brew which I did like. My final thoughts are that this is a cool place for drinks if your around the square and want to experience a throw back in time when you could smoke in a neat place.

    Part of the bar.

Maduro is a classy cigar lounge with access to fine spirits and some rare craft beers. They have cigars that range for the novice mild tasters that dabble once in a while, to the pungent Dominican, Honduran, and other South American heavy hitters. Expect rare gins, Scotches, Italian spirits, aged bourbons, and tequilas here. There is always a good selection of Bell's beers, IPAs, a.cider on tap, European specialities, some serious stouts. They have a full bar, relaxing couches to get comfortable on, and on some nights live music to set the mood of this classic downtown establishment.

We just happened to park in front of the bar prior to dinner around the corner and couldn't help but take a look and we were happy we did. Located in a great area for bars and restaurants just a block from the Capital. It was a smaller, cozy place with a lot of older wood and brick. Walls were tastefully adorned. Bar seating along with a mix of tables and chairs/couches. People enjoying drinks, card games, and cigars. Appears that they had a good selection of high-end liquor. We did not sample any scotch or cigars but loved their craft beer selection. Prices were reasonable and the service very friendly. While you definitely smelled the cigar in the air it wasn't smokey. Next time we will make this a planned stop and be more adventurous and try a cigar!

One of my favorite places to hang and just... breathe innnnnn. Nothing like a drink and a top shelf cigar to stop and take in life. Can't go to Madison without going here!

    Cigar anyone?

Looking for a cigar and 3 fingers of bourbon? I'm not often, but when I am, Maduro is the place. We went for our homeboys birthday and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Felt like some classy folk! Straight out of Guys & Dolls. Having not ever bought a cigar and bourbon together in a bar before, I wish the bartender would have been a little more friendly/helpful...but otherwise I fun time!

Great place for euchre and cigars!

Alas, we have so few, and I'm so excited this concept opened! I came on a fall/winter evening, but definitely would love to come back in sunny outdoor weather. On the top floor of the Moxy hotel, Atico serves up a really lovely array of Mexican and Mexican-themed foods. They've got some really elevated entree options, but also have a host of street tacos. While their menu is a bit pricey (some were actually outrageous), the happy hour specials they had listed on the table were a great deal -- definitely would love to come back here for happy hour. I ordered 2 al pastor street tacos and a carne asada street taco. They're nicely sized and are decently full with meat. Onion and cilantro tops them off just like a street taco should be. I thought they were pretty tasty. I didn't love that the pineapple in the al pastor was chopped on top and was served cold (the pineapple, not the meat), but I still ate every ounce of both my tacos, so take my complaint with a grain of salt. My margarita was also good, I appreciated that they were willing to make it "up" instead of "on the rocks." Our server was very accommodating and able to answer questions. Overall, I don't know that the food is worth the price, but it would definitely be worth it on a rare occasion to enjoy the rooftop ambiance. The happy hour also solves for this conundrum. So, I'd certainly like to be back to Atico.

It happened to be near the theatre we went to, so we decided to stop in and check it out. They have nearly 775 different types of whiskey to choose from, which is wild! I loved that they offer different ounce sizes so you can sample a few, and they even pair it with water so you stay hydrated while tasting (smart touch). Price ranges between ~$7.50-$20.00+. The place had a cozy, lounge-like vibe and was pretty busy, but the staff was friendly and helpful. It's first come first served for seating, just like any bar. We sampled a few whiskeys and also tried their premade espresso martini. The whiskey selection was phenomenal, the espresso martini was decent, not the best I've had (it was premade), but still enjoyable (it's made with Tito's, which isn't my favorite base, but I appreciate the fresh coffee beans they used). All in all, this place is a hidden gem. Great whiskey, friendly staff, and the perfect cozy spot to escape the rain for a while. I'll definitely be back next time to try even more from their list!

I am 19 years old, and my husband is over 21. As soon as we presented our passports, the security guard at the door refused us entry and would not even look at our marriage certificate, which showed that my husband would be responsible for me here in the U.S. In addition to that, he was extremely rude and disrespectful. He raised his voice at both of us while forcing us away from the entrance, used his body to block us (even though we were not trying to force our way in--we only wanted him to review our documents), pointed aggressively at a sign stating that alcohol consumption under 21 is prohibited, and told us to "get out." The issue is that I am visibly pregnant--38 weeks--and I do not consume alcohol. We were only there to celebrate a friend's birthday. Shortly after, our friend tried to speak with him and explain the situation, but once again he showed complete indifference, simply stating that he was "doing his job." My husband and I would not have had an issue if the bar had a strict policy of not allowing me to enter, even accompanied by my husband. However, the level of rudeness and lack of professionalism we experienced was completely unacceptable. He did not seem qualified to be in a security position, as he refused to review documentation and treated people in a disrespectful manner, regardless of whether they were customers or potential patrons. After reading other reviews, I noticed that poor service appears to be a common issue at this establishment, which is disappointing, as the venue itself seems comfortable and appealing. However, after today's experience, I have no interest in trying to visit again or recommending it to friends. I hope you take this feedback seriously and consider hiring staff who know how to perform their roles with professionalism and respect. Situations like this are embarrassing and ultimately damage the reputation of your business.
