Still a great midwestern bar--cold brews, everyone is welcome, and the servers work as an efficient team. Service frankly is beyond belief at this comfy, relaxed downtown institution. Of course I got the wedges again--they were superb. But this time I added the Buffalo chicken poppers--they are juicy perfectly prepared boneless wings. Stopped in for a late lunch in middle of week on a road trip through area. It's a bar with an expanded menu of good items. My wife ordered the patty melt with sweet potato fries. She stated the sweet potato were cooked to perfection and patty melt was good. I ordered a chicken/provolone on chibata bun with french fries. all our food was better than bar food. Several places were closed and they were closing early due to the holiday weekend and staffing. The menu looked great! We wanted to try several items which I have no issue with since we don't mind leftovers. We got a full order of biscuits and gravy... it's a lot so be prepared. Really good with a good amount of sausage and great biscuits. The Farmer's Omelet had fresh ingredients and good. The Pecan Pancake was huge with chunks of Pecan. I really enjoyed it. The service was great. She kept our water and coffee cups full and had a great cadence checking in to see if we needed anything. Great experience. read more

Been here several times and the food, ambiance, and service has been excellent. Try the 12 oz Pork Tenderloin sandwich. OK beer selection, limited but it had 2 excellent IPAs on draft which works for me. read more

Frequent regular here; Last time we ordered take out they sent a bloody rare burger home that would likely kill a horse if it contained E Coli. Might be a while before I could stomach another. Bottom line, usually the best burger this side of the Missouri River but bloody enough to attract a vampire bat. Update 02/10/2023 Still serving rare hamburger. Last time you get a chance for E. coli or a lawsuit. read more

Not the best experience. They were so busy when we arrived we had to stand and wait for a table. It wasn't clear that's how it worked. We had to flag down a server and ask if we just sat wherever or what. She said they're all full but just stand here and one should open up soon. We didn't have to wait very long, maybe 10 minutes. (We started to sit down at one table after the party left and another guy came up and said oh we've been sitting here in the bar waiting on that table...so we let them have it and shortly after another opened up.) Our waitresses seemed very stressed. She took our drink order right away and then came back and we placed an appetizer order. She came back a third time and we placed our food order. (The place cleared out about 20 minutes after we sat down.) After 45 minutes she came back and said "your food is going on the grill now." I asked about our appetizer order and she said oh shoot I think they forgot. About 20 minutes later we got our appetizers. After another 30 minutes we finally got our food (we were actually standing up to go pay and leave when she walked out with it). The food wasn't even that great- super salty and the breading for everything from the fried mushrooms to the shrimp had the same peppery breading. I'm only giving two stars because she did comp our appetizers which was nice. read more

Stopped by here for lunch today after seeing the positive reviews. The atmosphere was pleasant and had great service. The food wasn't very good though. I had the pork tenderloin sandwich and it was really dry, like over cooked dry. I opted for the house made chips for extra cost and they were way over cooked as well and tasted like they were fried in old oil. . My wife said her shrimp Po Boy wasn't great either. I tried one of her up-charged sweet potato fries and it was limp, yuck. This place has great potential but they just didn't execute on the food. We both agreed we would not go back. Hope this review helps the restaurant do a better job in the future. read more

What a great little gem in Boonville, conveniently located in historic downtown! Great architecture and cool ambiance. The service is stellar. And the menu is very versatile! I got the 'piglets' which a large serving of pork tenderloin pieces battered and fried with sauce... different and I loved it. Had a good spinach salad too. Visited on Saturday 5/29 for lunch. I had the Rueben, wife had the Tenderloin, and friends split a Philly steak sandwich. Everyone was happy with their food. Simple bar food, but it's done well, fresh and tasty. I tried a bite of the tenderloin and it was one of the best I've ever had. It wasn't pounded thin like most. Juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, and it wasn't full of gristle or fat. The wait staff was exceptional. There was only two of them and the place was full. They really hustled, knew the menu, and had great attitudes. The decor was rustic and there was decent space out back for drinks/dinner outside. read more

After a few nervous moments and the bright lights shining in on us, we were released with a warning! We were greeted by Maggie herself! She made us a drink made a few recommendations and we ordered! My husband had the McMaggie. He thought it was a good hamburger - plenty to eat. Barely touched his fries as he was full from the burger. I needed to be gluten free and ordered the hamburger without bun and subbed the spinach salad with raspberry vinaigrette for the fries. Tasty and didn't get "glutened." Yay! read more

Even though it was about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the place was packed, and although the service was a little slow, the food was absolutely delicious. We have been there twice this season. First time pizza was burnt. 2nd time was 8/17 with 8 adults, 2 toddlers, and an infant. Waited an hour and was told pizza oven wasn't working correctly. We got the last pizza after an hour and a half. We put it a box and left. Waitress was apologetic. Owner didn't come out or offer to comp drinks on either visit. Poor service twice in a row. We were on our way to KC the other day and when lunchtime came we decided to detour a few miles to downtown Boonville. We're glad we did. First a little background - I'm a sucker for a throwback tavern. There is no need at all to update that old paneling or take down the circa 1967 beer signs, even if the beers no longer exist (Pabst Light, anyone? I didn't think so). Happy moment number one was the no smoking notice on the front door. We were all expecting the worst based on the impression from the street. Okay, this place is way more "quirky charm" than "trendy hot-spot" but again, that suits us. They did have an impressive draft beer list, though, including several regional craft beers. The waitress knew all about them, too. We shared fried pickles, a cheeseburger and a grilled chicken salad. The pickles were great - slices, which we prefer. Perfectly seasoned and I think the ranch dressing was made in house. The salad was HUGE - we could have made a meal of it. Chicken was still hot. Nothing fancy, but good and fresh. The burger was also huge. I'm glad I didn't have to eat the whole thing. The fries were good, but not amazing. We would happily stop in at Maggie's if we find ourselves in the area. read more

Food: I ordered the BLAT sandwich with sweet potato fries. It came on a ciabatta roll and it was a good twist! For me the bacon was too chewy and there was a lot of bacon. I would have preferred less bacon and for it to have been more crispy. The sweet potato fries were very good and so was the sauce they came with.
