During my research of Boonville, The Cive showed up several places. Therefore, it was the first stop on the 2 day adventure for lunch. I got the specila souo - clam chowder, and it was delish. You could tell it was homemade based on the doneness of the potatoes. We had the Cove burger and the Flamethrower burger. One with crinkle fries and the other with seasoned so we could share. Both types are skinny fries and very good. The burger was so big O could barely fit it in my mouth. Bobbi Jo took great care of us, and everything was priced very reasonably. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be a regular. Lots of seating in and out doors. I imagine it's very busy in warmer months. Great place for good food and friendly locals. read more

Good local restaurant away from downtown. Probably not for someone who came into town on their bicycle (it's about a mile and a half from all the older buildings and the Katy trailhead), but if you came by car, it's a quick trip. I came in for a super late lunch/ early dinner, so it was absolutely dead at the time. I was the only customer. The staff wasn't chatty, but they were polite and my meal came out hot and quickly. The food was what you'd expect from a local bar/restaurant. The food isn't fancy, but it's tasty and the prices are reasonable. When we planned our trip, we planned to stop in Boonville on our way west. It is one of 3 or 4 spots we typically stop when headed west but I really wanted to go back to a restaurant we had enjoyed on a previous visit. Unfortunately, their hours are now 7a-2p with no dinner service. So, I once again turned to my fellow Yelpers for a recommendation. Based on over-whelmingly positive reviews, we decided to try the Cove Restaurant and Bar. This is truly a place patronized by the locals and not on the radar of many travelers. I my mind, it's more of a bar wanting to be a restaurant than a restaurant with a bar. That said, this is a very unassuming, unpretentious place for dinner. The menu has a good variety of salads and the like, a nice variety of sandwiches, pasta, and a list of specialty burgers. BUT, the menu also includes seafood entrees, steaks and even frog legs. I ordered their Cove burger which comes with bacon, jalepenos, fried onion rings, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and onions. Served with 1 side - I had the crinkle fries. This burger definitely makes my top ten list of best burgers ever. My wife had the flatbread pizza with pepperoni and green peppers and said it was excellent. Mom and I had a hard time finding it at first because they were going through some renovations and there was no name anywhere on or near the building but, the GPS directed us there and we went in and was glad we did! Very friendly staff and it seemed like lots of locals frequented it often. The food was phenomenal and the portions sizes were just right! Staff was really friendly and the atmosphere was nice. They had indoor and an outdoor patio. This makes my fourth or fifth time eating here when traveling through Missouri. The place is always clean, staff always friendly and the food always delicious. I eat the Gator bites most of the time. The best gator you can eat outside of Louisiana. I've also had their beer battered fish sandwich that is quite good. You really have to be looking for this place in order to find it. My number one criteria for eating somewhere is whether or not the locals recommend it. That's a true sign whether or not it's worth eating. read more

This was a wonderful lunch stop surprise. When we first drove up, I thought that this couldn't be the place. It looked like a store in the middle of a parking lot. But inside it was nice and full of friendly people. I had a chicken Caesar salad and husband had a chicken bacon wrap with homemade chips. Both our meals were so good. My chicken was freshly grilled (you can have it fried if you prefer) so it was warm on top of the salad which is my fav way to eat this meal. I keep forgetting to snap a photo before I dig in. We got here at 6. Ordered drinks and food by 6:45. It was after 8:00 when we got our food. Waitress didn't refill beverages while we had to wait. And when my mother asked to speak to the manager, Jacob came and was rude and disrespectful to my 87 year old mother. His behavior was totally unacceptable ... lying to her, and totally dismissing her. He asked if we had a reservation... they weren't too busy when we got here and we got seated right away. The kitchen doesn't know if we had a reservation! So belittling to think we would accept that as the reason. Food was great. Our family of 8 went in today for a late lunch. One member arrived early to get seating and placed an order for a drink. The rest of the family arrive approximately 20 minutes later. The place was not busy but we were immediately informed a party of 30-50 would be arriving in an hour and a half- that was the last of the communication with any staff. We were never waited on, the original drink order never came, yet others that walked in after us were served. After 35 minutes of nothing, we walked out and went to the restaurant across the street where we were immediately taken care of, even though they appeared to be thinly staffed as well. After asking for our salads they came within a minute at which time we were told it would be another twenty minutes for our meals.
