A small local company that is both reliable, experienced and offers quality work at a fair price. We purchased our home here in Chehalis in October 2019 and we love it here! But as you and I both know, with home ownership comes home maintenance. We knew from our home inspection that we needed to repair or replace the leaking sectional gutter system around our house. We also noticed a couple of areas that needed repair to the existing gutters around our garage, wood shed and barn. Craig, the owner of Gutter Works is a hard working professional and takes his work and his business seriously. He is a gutter expert and custom fabricated our gutters on sight in seamless (long) sections to eliminate those leaky-dripping joints of our old gutters. I am so relieved we found an excellent and trustworthy contractor that does the job right the first time and for an unbelievable price! Well, I realize our price reflects the fact that we have a 1970's ranch style home the shape of rectangle... Jose showed up right on time (this rarely happens so I was immediately impressed), helped assess everything and was very honest. Despite how ugly the siding was, it was just cosmetic and didn't require any repairs (yay). The biggest roofing project could be deferred, but a smaller structure needed a new roof yesterday (it was decades old and I rebuilt everything but the roof 5 yrs ago so was a valuable investment). He gave me quotes on all the structures and came in at the lower range of average roofing costs. He was able to be out within a couple of weeks to do the small roof and they were timely, efficient, very clean and did a beautiful job. Jose also scouted around the structure after the job to make sure it was properly picked up after. Throughout the process he was very responsive in emails and there were never surprises. I have recommended him to neighbors and am saving to do the main roof in a year or two. He is a very honest, reliable business and family man with high integrity. I was treated like a deadbeat with a zero credit score. (It is actually over 800.) To begin, I was told the diagnosis would cost $199 but would be applied toward the bill if they did the job, which I intended to have them do. They guy came out, looked at my system for about 30 seconds, and told me I had a leaking irrigation valve (which was already obvious to me). He said the system was old and there were other valves ready to fail as well. We agreed that I should just replace them all. I asked for an estimate and he told me he would have one either by phone or email by the end of the day. There was no request for payment so I assumed we would just roll it into the bill for the job. Two days later, I called to ask about the estimate. A lady said they guy was too busy to write it up but she would email me one by the end of the day. Two days after that I sent an email asking about the estimate I still had not received. She said it would be around $1200. I said that I would accept that and to put me on the schedule and send a written version of the estimate. That is when they seemed to get defensive. They said I would need to pay them 50% of the estimate (which I still did not have in writing) before they would even put me on the schedule. After this, and the lack of a timely response earlier, I was getting a little leary of their business. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, however this is not my first rodeo, I told her I would pay the 50% when they showed up to do the job. They did not reply at all after that except to send a bill for the estimate. Not only did they demand payment THAT DAY or face a 35% late fee, but they dated the bill FOUR DAYS prior! I'd had enough of this company by then. I drove a check for the "inspection" over to their "office" and hand delivered it. I would NEVER do business with people who treat customers like this. Good luck if you do. In the end, I think they just wanted a quick buck doing the "inspection" and never intended to do the work. Sad.
