We don't sell Magnums in America, so you must understand my dismay when I have to clamber back onto that plane to go back to the ice cream void in the states, so when I was wandering through the Olympic Park and found a Magnum store I nearly sprinted toward it. They only have a few of these stores and they pop up occasionally. The store is only in the park for 7 weeks, so if you're in London TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS SITUATION. It's £3 for a Magnum with 3 toppings. Essentially it's an ice cream lovers haven. For my Americans who don't know what a Magnum is, I'm not talking about the gun, I'm talking about something significantly better than the gun. It's a ice cream bar with a thick layer of chocolate, it's the ice cream that God (or gods depending on your religious affiliation) eats. So, at this store you can customize your own Magnum. Yeah... heaven.
With a flurry of toppings from traditional ones such as white chocolate, hazelnuts, almonds, chocolate sprinkles, to a bit obscure ones such as Goji Berries, Chili peppers and Rose petals you choose three toppings, they shake it up. You choose your chocolate dip: white, dark, or milk, and they sprinkle your toppings on drizzle it in more chocolate and then a chocolate Magnum button to finalize the whole bar. I could barely wait the 1 minute they asked to let the chocolate harden. I wanted to face plant in my divine concoction: my choice was a vanilla ice cream bar, dipped in milk chocolate, sprinkled with rose petals, hazelnuts, and white chocolate, drizzled with white chocolate. Try it, it was amazing.
This store was such a good idea. I can't tell if I'm happy it's not in Atlanta or else I would eat my way into certain heart disease and diabetic shock. If you're in London, you don't even have to splurge, it's only £3 for what I got. Enjoy yourself, and treat yourself. The only problem is that the line will probably be excessively long but still... to me, it's worth the wait. read more
