It's not very often I give a place one star, but this place doesn't even really deserve that. I can honestly say it's the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Our company put us up here or we would have left immediately after checking in. I can say we will never stay here again. We will pay for a room ourselves and stay elsewhere. So first, the few good points. Check in was quick. A van with six people had arrived just before us. Even with only one front desk person, we had little wait time. The bed was pretty comfortable. The shower was hot. The atrium is pretty. Unfortunately, none of these things outweighed the bad. 1. Upon check in, the desk clerk recommended an area on the side for parking with an additional entrance. We found it, and while hubby parked the car, I grabbed a couple things and went to head inside. I tried my card but continued to get a red light. A man came to the door from inside and opened it for me proceeding to tell me it was broken. Hmmm....okay. We later found out it wasn't a matter of the card not working and the door being broken. The security feature that locked it didn't work. All you had to do was pull on the door and it opened, so anyone could walk in. 2. I go in and head to the elevator. The door opens. I step in and there is another person inside. My hands were full, so I set a bag in the corner. The man told me that it's not a good idea because he thinks someone peed in the corner. Hmmm...okay. I quickly grabbed my bag as I realized he was probably right. The floor looked damp and the elevator smelled. 3. The whole hotel smelled!! Not of urine, but old staleness covered up with disinfectant. It was invasive. I went to bed with it in my nose. I fell asleep thinking about taking a shower in the morning. Unfortunately, even after we left it seemed to linger on our stuff. Yuck!! 4. I find our room and enter. First thing I notice is the TV is on. Kinda weird. Upon further investigation, there was an opened can of soda in the fridge. Hmmmm....okay. We figured one of the staff must have have been hanging or hiding out for a break. 5. The ceiling. See pictures. Severe water damage in room entry area and bathroom ceiling. Dangerous and disgusting are two words that come to mind. 6. Vending machines on each floor. Bonus! Not so much. I had purchased a mini pecan pie for a snack. I've eaten them before, but this one tasted off. After a few bites I had to stop. I grabbed the wrapper and found the date. Sell by 10/13/19. Oh, yuck!! Our stay was in January 2020. I checked other dated items in the same machine then checked other machines. There were numerous items in multiple vending machines with similar out dated expirations. See pics. 7. Pool was not heated and it appeared hot tub had no water in it. 8. As we were preparing to leave our room the next morning, someone had set off the fire alarm. It was apparently a false alarm, but quite eerie as it continued to sound. In it's heyday, I'm sure it was a beautiful hotel. It's far from that now. Now it's just disgusting! I really believe this hotel is haunted. Either that or it's just a bad hotel. There's weird writings on the wall, the elevator kept braking, police constantly patrolling the parking lot, and other random stuff. My hotel room even smelled like cigarettes when I first walked in. I'm not one to go out of my way to write negative reviews for businesses unless I feel it is necessary. My Fiance has stayed in this hotel multiple times and has had decent experiences. Overall the customer service is great, easy to check-in. Our key card was deactivated three times over a week span, but the front desk was great about reactivating our keys. Now, aside from the positives with this hotel; The reason I gave them a one-star review was because of the roach infestation. On our last full day, in the morning we were welcomed with a large roach on the side table near the bed. We thought about going to another hotel but hoped this was a coincidence and wouldn't see any more. However, we were completely wrong, I caught a huge American cockroach crawling on our luggage and the last roach was in the microwave eating our food. Three roaches in a day gave me the impression that they have an infestation. I had bites all over my face and neck. I'm unsure if it was because of the roaches or some other bug, but regardless it was bug bites from our hotel room. It was so bad we slept with the lights on. I attached an image below of the roach I found on top of our luggage (a little blurry). I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone who is expecting quality at a cheap price. The price and convenient location are not worth the possibility of having items be raided by cockroaches or getting bit by them. A fair mention is the water damage in the ceilings in the bathroom. The bathtub/shower filled up with water literally 3 minutes of showering. The drains seemed to be clogged and this has occurred on multiple stays. read more

Got up in the morn To find out the room was only half clean from the last person Floors were dirty, no bathmat damn near fell when getting out of shower. On the sink was a wash cloth all folded up fancy with a opened used bar of soap. No wonder my company stopped using them. And if i remember correctly this is the place that had bed bugs cause there too cheap to buy bed bug mattress protecters. DONT STAY HERE!!! Its disgusting, unclean, people tweaking around 4am in the hallways knocking on doors because they didnt know what room they were in. You have people smoking in the rooms and outside sitting on stairway when it's a non smoking with a sign on the window and doors. No security on the premises!!! Which I honestly did NOT FEEL SAFE!!! Room are filthy with stains on the curtains, dirty floors, ceilings falling apart! Checkout we went to go complain an the girl at the front desk had no customer service at all!! So disappointing. I was alerted upon arrival that my reservation had been cancelled because they had "No CC on file/CC was invalid" however no one had called me or emailed me to tell me this. They first told me they were sold out, then that they found a room, but honestly it would have been better had there been no rooms available. The hallways wreaked of dog pee (like overwhelming). The door leading out of our room to the parking lot didn't close/latch and could be pushed open unless we deadbolted it. The room was so dark and dingy. The bathroom sink was propped up with a thin piece of wood. The shower had mold and hair left on the walls that wasn't ours. The toilet didn't work right and the water kept running non-stop. The toilet didn't have a lid but instead had a moldy piece of thin plywood. The ceiling was rusting and the light cover was broken. We found multiple little beetley/bug things in the room. The elevator doors did not open/close correctly. The side doors at the end of the hallways leading to the parking lots were never locked. The bed sagged in the middle and provided no support. Breakfast was either overcooked, lukewarm, or ran out. All of this Motel "elegance" came with an actual hotel price tag of $100+ The only positive note that I have is that, with the exception of the initial staff member at the front desk who checked us in, everyone who worked there were nice and tried to help us as best they could. *I have alerted Magnuson corporate customer service to my experience and am currently waiting for a response from them* read more

I checked in Friday, everything went ok. The hotel felt scary, abandoned and haunted. The beds weren't comfortable and the room smelled bad. We completed our stay and left. The next day I noticed I was charged the deposit fee so I called unable to get anyone on the phone. The next day (today) I called back. The phone was answered and a man came on and asked how he could help, I informed him I was calling to inquire as to why I was charged the deposit after I checked out, where he felt the need to explain a security deposit and what it is for. I stopped him and told him I know what a deposit is for but wanted to know why I was charged after I checked out. He automatically got aggressive and started yelling at me, he cursed at me, he told me he was having a bad day and I was making it worse, simply for making him do a little work I guess. He refused to give me his name and told me he don't give a d*m* if I called his boss. He needs to be fired. He's prolly an owner or something which makes him think he can talk to customers however he wants but that's absolutely ridiculous! Not a very good place to stop and rest. For three days, every time i left my room, then go back to my room, the room card would not work. I would have to go down to the front desk to get the cards reprogrammed. If you don't have quarters for the laundry facilities, then you are SOL. Because there are no bill changers, the front desk don't have change, and neither does the restaurant. And the card readers for all of the machines does not work either, so you cannot use your credit/debit cards. The ice machine on the 3rd floor does not work. The floors in the restaurant were very sticky, and the restaurant is not much of a restaurant, and the wait staff is not very good at all. Its really bad when you wait for 20 minutes to be served and then you have to go find the waitress. And forget about actually taking a bath, because the tub stopper is missing, and they don't have any, and hair all over the bathroom... read more

STAY AWAY! Let me list a few reasons why this place is god awful. -Absolutely NO air conditioning. Our room never made it below 78! We had it on 50 the entire stay and not only did it not get below 78 but it even went up to 81! -The Hall ways of this establishment reek of cleaning solution used to try and mask the smell of fish grease. Once the fabuloso wears off, the stench will kill you. -The elevator was the slowest POS. It was sweltering like an oven, too small to fit more than 5 comfortably and didn't know which was was up. The ONLY elevator in this place and it should be closed for proper inspection. -Broken or missing ceiling tiles were just too classy. I guess they don't mind gaping holes in the ceiling. From our room, we could look up into the tiles and see plumbing and/or wiring that was such a nice site. -The water pressure in the shower was out of wack. The streams were all over the place. You couldn't hardly rinse the shampoo out of your hair. I'm not even sure how this place has 3 stars. I would much rather pay the extra $20 and stay at the Hampton! read more

Worst hotel...or actually even motel I stayed at. Dirty, old, weird smell in hallways and room. Breakfast buffet was limited, a bit cold, very messy, kids running around everywhere and dropping food, spilling drinks. Made to order omelette - worst one I've had, ever! Didn't even eat more than two bites. People rush to the buffet line like monkeys after a banana - maybe they thought food was about to run out or they never had buffet. Satellite tv kept loosing channels and "rescanning" for satellites. Free wifi is very slow and unprotected - so pretty much anyone can steal your info off you laptop/iPad/phone whenever you connect, since anyone can connect. $79 with taxes/fees came out to $180 for two nights - this hotel isn't worth $50 a night. Most Days inn/travelodges/super 8's have better service, rooms and beds then this place. STAY AWAY!!! Many other hotels around the area, if you have to stay around Desoto. Never stayed around here before and never will again, might as well go 5-10 miles north. 9 miles west on I-20 Hilton Garden Inn - $5 more per night and totally better/different experience! read more

I honestly must say i am the up most disgusted by this place. I went in with high hopes. To be honest i think it's a VERY nice set up waking in. Even my boyfriend said while standing in the lobby "this place is really nice" and then we walk around the corner and fall in love with the big open ceiling and flags. But then it turns for worse once the first room we had seems like a dirty motel. We walked in and it just had a humid feeling in the room. It just didn't fit so i immediately turned around and asked for a different room. After that. It took atleast 15 mins to even get in our room because the guy at the desk advised if the card doesn't work try doing it again whilst lifting the handle and jiggling it(shouldn't take this much effort to get in my room) Then we finally get in after going back down stairs and being advised to use the back door, as soon as we walked in my boyfriend was disgusted by the smell. The remote turned on the tv and stopped working so he had to down load the app on his phone to control Samsung TVs. But there was a loud tune behind the volume on the Tv which made it not possible to watch. And to top it all off the ceiling looked moldy. And the sheets felt so sticky and damp we didn't stay longer than an hour. This whole motel is run down and in serious need of a deep clean. Everything looks and feels cheap. Does this place even have air conditioning? I've been in my room for 3+ hours and it's finally down to 75 degrees. It's now 2am! Why am I placed right next to the elevator? The bed is hard and flat. No give, very uncomfortable. The pillows are a joke. Why can't I close the curtains to make it dark? People can walk by, look right in to the room and see me. I can see them just fine too. The bathroom counter is quite literally falling off the wall. Literally! Not figuratively, or immaginary... LITERALLY! Barely any water pressure to flush the toilet. My company payed for the room, otherwise I would NEVER have stayed here. Avoid this relic and get a good night's sleep somewhere else. Few breakfast in the morning? The pool was freezing cold and the hot tub was cold. Our bathroom was filthy upon arrival. The dresser in the room was broken. The tv was also not working. Broken vending machines and dirty mattresses in the hallway. We called for towels upon our 9pm arrival and were told, "I'll see what I can do." Called again and was told "Ok." Two hours later we went to the front desk and were told "We'll bring them to the room." A pipe in our room then burst. We called and were told, "Maintenance is out so put some towels down because I'm not changing your room." Then we were hung up on. At 3am the ceiling caved from the weight of the water and fell upon my 3pound dog. At this point I am irate. At 9am the next day we receive a new room which was available the night before. That night we chained and locked the front door and left out of the back. When we arrived again the front door was still chained but open the dog was missing and a do not disturb sign was placed on the door. So I go to the front desk, two little girls have him and claim he was at the front desk and they wouldn't keep him so they were trying to find the owner. Upon talking with the concierge this morning about not receiving a call from the owner or manager like I was told I would, she brings up the fact that they forgot to charge me a pet fee. You almost killed him! I explained to her that the pet fee is not my problem anymore and they need to figure out what they will be doing about my bill in its entirety. The only courteous folks I encountered were the staff serving and hosting the breakfast. I Stayed the weekend at the hotel would not recommend. The pool area was closed, the recreational area was very limited. A lot of noise coming from kids roaming around the hotel aswell as the night club. The rooms - small pillows, bed sheets very thin, beds very firm hard mattress, tv was good new and clear picture, Air conditioning was barely working the thermostat said near 80 the entire weekend would not cool off, fridge was working well cooled nicely, microwave worked. Breakfast included. I liked the staff interactions were helpfulI but late checkout was denied from lobby. I think management is not keeping up with necessary repairs as they should being my biggest reason for low rating. read more

How in the hell does this place even have over 3 stars?! It should be condemned and closed and have negative stars!!! Please, whatever you do, do not stay here!! Yes, the carpets are stained, whatever. But the reason why they are stained became apparent quickly; the housekeepers just don't care! Hair in the bathroom, old coffee bags in the coffee maker, there's these ceiling tiles by the door? Stained and falling apart. Weird smells when you come in too as if they're trying to hide something. On top of that, the microwave doesn't work at all (won't turn on even though it's plugged in), the faucet to the sink sucks and feels like it's going to break, and the toilet keeps running water all night long. I figured I'd turn the toilet off at the faucet, well obviously this has been going on longer then you'd think because even that's worn out and won't turn it off!! Also the elevator sounds like it's going to break and is extremely slow (they only have 1 by the way), the vending machine only takes cash (but the drink one allows card?!), The curtains they put in the rooms are pretty much see thru. They have the type that aren't but they only cover a tiny bit and are not moveable.. also, no window you can open! There's no workable fan vent in the bathroom, maybe it's that always open type, and maybe that's why the ceiling tiles are stained... The air conditioning doesn't blow much as if it's on a super low speed, and it doesn't get cold at all! I had it set to 60 just to bring it down, my room never went below 78! Oh and the door? You can barely open it, because for some reason it feels as if the door is either stuck, or the handle assembly is going to break off. It worries me that any time I come back to my room that it could be the last time I can enter it. On another note; This place looks and feels like a warehouse building, and be expected to walk as if you're walking miles just to get to/from your room! read more

My mom, granny and children had the joining suite and my king sized bed had 3 small pillows that kept falling through the cracks of the bed. I called the front desk (around 10:30pm) and simply asked for more pillows to level everything off but the guy at the front desk said there were no pillows and he said he suggest that I push the mattress up some more. First of all, the guest has no business pushing a mattress because of a housekeeping or setup error. Secondly, I am a petite woman, I can NOT push a king mattress. On top of that, the jacuzzi was open to the public and was GREEN and foul smelling. The worker tells me, OH WE HAVENT CLEANED IT SO I WOULDNT GET IN THERE IF I WERE YOU. Mind you, somebody's kids were in there. THEN the worker says AND FOLK WONDER WHY THEY GET SICK. I only came here because we had a power outage due to a recent storm. I am NOT satisfied with the lack of hospitality. I try not to be too critical because as a former hotel manager, I know things happen. But when your customer service HORRIBLE with no empathy to try to resolve issues, there is no excuse for that. read more

The Bobbisox lounge is a raggedy nasty place to be in. It seems unsanitary, honestly felt like i was in a ghetto shanty town drinking hole. The manager was a horrible belligerent host. Rude, awful and just plain s deterrent to have a good time. I honestly would este more to this hotel if Bobbisox Lounge was closed or had different management. If you come to the hotel BYOB, because you're more likely to have a good time there than the bar itself. I don't know how it's in business when it only attracts sketchy people. I recently stayed at this hotel during the winter storm here in Texas. I had visited many times in the past. This time, the rooms were booked and the room I had reserved had a mildew odor from a burst pipe. Even though I had already checked in, the front desk ladies were extremely helpful in assisting me to cancel my reservation with no fee and called around and helped me find suitable lodging. This prevented me from having to do the legwork myself. I was fully refunded in 24 hours. read more

Room was not cleaned the entire 3 days of our reservation.We tried to call front desk to voice our concerns, phone in room did not work properly (received a busy tone). Went to front desk, no one was present. As a last result, called on personal cellphone to inform them our room hadn't been cleaned after the second day, was informed the housekeeper was gone for the day and she would get to our room the next day which was our checkout day. Called hotwire to complain, hotel manager falsely stated that we had the "Do Not Distrub" sign on the door. We trying to address issues directly, staff seemed to place blame and question guest versus trying to make things right. Unprofessional staff and very outdated hotel. The only COVID-19 precautions that were taken were the requirement of masks but not clean and sanitized at all. Stayed on June 7-9, 2019: Staff was nice. This hotel was horrible. Upon entering the building you hear music from the inside night club. Once checked in and up the elevator when elevator door opened to my floor all you smell is weed smoke. Once I made it to my assigned room the refrigerator was standing wide open with spoiled towels laying in the bottom and the floor around the refrigerator was wet. The room smelled awful. Contacted front desk about situation and they sent a guy up with me some towels. I had to inform him about the refrigerator because they thought I wanted towels smh. This MCM puts the hotel chain to shame! It has an uncaring staff (maintenance was working on the air conditioner since it wouldn't work and the front desk wouldn't move us because we had our two Chihuahuas. Maintenance then proceeded to leave the door to our room propped open, with our stuff in the room (a computer and 2 iPads) and went home for the day). Came back to find we had no air so they moved us to a handicap room with two double beds, nots like the room we had to move out of. First night, no air 4 hrs sleep. Second night four of us in two double beds in a room that had been smoked in making your mouth taste like you licked an ashtray 5 hr sleep. This hotel is dirty, out dated, the pool had gravel in the bottom, has an unpleasant odor and is in serious need of some TLC! I wouldn't recommend anyone pay more than $50 to stay here, a long cry from their "best" price of $119. read more

The lobby wasn't bad as I walked in, everything looked clean. The staff was nice and friendly, but what got me was when I actually got to my room. The room had a stale smell to it almost like it had been smoked in and they cleaned it as much as they could hoping no one would catch it, the floors were stained like crazy and had something laying on it that I didn't even want to to touch to find out what it was, the dresser had sand in it and along with what looked like a bug, the walls were stained and looked like something had been spilled on all over, the bed I picked to sleep in I went to look for bedbugs, didn't find any but there was potato chips crunched up under it, and the ceiling hadn't been cleaned, and the door didn't end have a peephole it was just the precut hole for one so anyone could just walk by and look in. All together the room was just really run down and not what I expected at all. read more

My husband, daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights. It was a relatively nice place. The rooms were clean and comfortable except the air conditioning didn't work super great. We didn't complain though. The indoor pool was super cold but was nice. The hot tub was more like a Luke warm tub with jets the first night and the second night it was hot but the Jets wouldn't work. We were told kids broke it. The arcade room they advertise is a foosball table and two crane prize games that don't work. It says they have a kids club but the staff doesn't even know what that is. My daughter definitely enjoyed the indoor playground and we did all enjoy the breakfast. We might stay here again but not for the pool/hot tub. I will say the staff members are great. Everyone we dealt with were kind, courteous and very friendly. read more

If I could give them zero stars, it would be more adequate. No A/C, no sheets for the hideaway beds, no extra pillows for those beds, tv volume not working, not enough hot water, and the fans not brought to us until after 10:30 pm! Who does that? Where do I start. The carpet in the room and halls need to be replaced ASAP! It is filthy and outdated. The furniture is old and in bad shape; if the desk is touched a little to hard it is going to fall apart. Only 1 bath towel and 1 face towel is in the room; Really! It has a stale smell in the room and the halls. The continental breakfast is a joke; bread, cold cereal, and waffles. The lobby, and dinning area is very misleading regarding your stay. The dinning room food was very good and they had a great $7.00 special for today (Sunday- seafood gumbo, cabbage, yams, and neck bones). Thank God no carpet is in that area. The worst of all is that a booked through Priceline and it is nonrefundable, other than that I would have checked right out of there. Never, Never again will I book a non-refundable room thru Priceline or anyone else! Money thrown out the window. This facility needs to close down and remodel ASAP! Disappointed read more
