Most of their foods come in compostable and environmentally friendly to-go containers, which I really loved since I could just bring any leftovers home easily. Since I had to bring food for a flight the next day any way, I decided to buy myself another one of their vegan meals, which had loads of quinoa and chickpeas, beets, and other vegetables! All the foods I ate were so perfectly seasoned, well cooked, and very healthy. I love finding places like Doktor Mat whenever I travel, since it allows me to nourish my body while I still taste a bit of the culture and environment. Every meal or purchase comes with a shot of apple cider vinegar + turmeric. It's a really nice touch to healthify their customers even more! The friendly man taking my order was so helpful and accommodating to my requests and questions especially since they didn't have an English menu and I could not understand half of what was on the menu (in terms of ingredients, description, etc). I got the miso salmon meal, which was so perfectly seasoned and cooked! It's not fully cooked, but it's not fully raw either. It's barely cooked, but the texture is so smooth and nearly melts in your mouth. It came with a few other vegetables in their own unique salad/dressing/marinated form, which I loved! Definitely a go-to if I ever go back to Stockholm!

I was lucky to get a ginger based vitamin shot with my order for free, but don't know if it's a regular thing there.

I was a regular at Blå Lotus in my teenage years, and in the 15 years that's passed very little have changed. That warm, cozy scent is the same. The India inspired decor is basically the same. And all the delicious sandwiches I used to spend all my money on are still on the menu, still named after worldwide deities, and the two pots of delicious chai (one soy, one regular) are still simmering on the stove. The only thing that has indeed changed, is that the two inner rooms are no longer smoke chambers. My thirties self feel that this is only for the good, though my teenage self would probably have disagreed :) My usual favorite on the menu was Freja - a delicious hot sandwich with chevré, tomato and parsley salsa, and It's still there. Though on this visit I'd already had lunch, so I went for another favorite: Isis - hard bread sandwich with slices of feta, tomato and parsley/garlic salsa. It was just as divine as I remember it. And so was the chai I had with it. I remember the cakes as being equally heavenly, but had to resist them this time. I love places that are able to withstand time and the changing trends, all the while staying genuine and true to their core. It is the proof of true jewel. And I do love Blå Lotus, and Stockholm seems to love it too - because it is just as packed as 15 years ago.

The pain au chocolat was also excellent: crisp layers with just the right amount of dark chocolate. Coffee was smooth and rich, and refills on brewed coffee are free. The café has a relaxed vibe, and even though it was busy, the service was quick and friendly. Prices are a bit high, but worth it for the quality. Recommend if you're looking for a great coffee and pastry spot, convenient to city center. Outdoor seating if you're lucky enough to land a spot. If not, there's a nice park across the way, if you order take away.

Although the passageway where the interior seating is situated seemed awkward it actually worked out well. Service, despite a crowd, was fairly quick, I would rate the coffee an A or 9/10 on the scale of strength, low acidity/smoothness. It is espresso based and made to exact order. There are serval options for milk (whole, oat, 1/2 and 1/2, etc). The major complaint would be that there is no easy place to throw away your rubbish, nor is there a place that is clearly evident to bust your dishes, which is much needed given that this is a super busy place.. The staff is too busy to bus tables regularly, which backs up the availability of seating . This is the major reason for a one star deduction.. TIP: You can buy beans or ground coffee for home brewing.

Once they were open, it took a long time between us being given menus to finally getting our food- 50 minutes. They should've given us our side while we were waiting for the board. We ordered a side of salami and Swedish cheese and the hairy pig board. I enjoyed the side, but the board not so much. The board consisted of wild boar sausage with broche bun, wild boar taco, peppercorn fries, and wild boar lasagna. The board was quite heavy and salty. I didn't have enough stomach space to even try the taco. I did enjoy the fries, but it's not enough for me to want to return.

This place is tucked below street level and is very intimate and downright cozy with its low beam wood ceiling, wood tables in every cranny it can fit to accommodate guests, and a tiny little bar. You can find this place outside by the wooden sign with the boar on it, then simply peer down into the low window and if you see a hairy pig nomming on a sausage, congratulations! You're in the right place. We stopped in not long before closing time and that was probably the only reason we were able to get a much coveted table. The barkeep was nice and let us put in a quick order while also getting us drinks. Unfortunately for me, there were not very many gluten free tapa options on the menu, but there were a few naturally gf. The salami and sausages were thought to have gluten so I went with the smoked shell on shrimp, a cheese dip, and some salad with olives. I wasn't crazy about the smoked shrimp but the olives and cheese were good. The husband enjoyed a sausage in bun which he said was great. Overall we liked the vibe and I think if you can eat the locally sourced meats like my husband it's probably a pretty solid place. If you're gf or allergy you'll probably still be hungry at the end of the meal like I was.
