Limited menu of sandwiches but they focus mainly on pizzas and calzones. Everything I've eaten there so far has been very good.

I am from Chicago and moved down here 30 years ago and have yet to find a pizza close to what I would get in Chicago until Friday night!! Ordered a large deluxe original crust. Very meh. I got wings and bosco sticks carry out. Maybe the food tastes better drunk. The bosco sticks seemed a touch overcooked. The cheese inside was not stretchy or melty. The nacho cheese tasted cheap. The wings were ok. Nothing special. They were tiny. I just didn't want to finish anything because it wasn't as good as I expected. The food was great, ambience super fine! Christmas party going on and we had a really bad service from our waitress (Tami). Apparently she was making judgements about us to excuse her to serve us, like you guys are ready for checks when we're not, rudely, after that she brought us the check, cause she judged us drunk! And believe it, she said that in our faces!!!!!!!! Thankfully we were not drunk at all to remember all this. Super inconsistent with what we're expecting from her, since we said that we're not ready for checks. Anyways, hopefully this feedback will help with quality of service! I've lived in Lafayette Indiana my whole life, and I've grown up with Tom Riehle in his establishments around town, and have been...will always be...a big fan of his. Magoos is a small place with big attitude filled with local Northsiders. The wait staff is well trained and very nice! hubs and I were there last Friday because we'd heard rumors of this phenomenon deep dish pizza now being served. We got the Detroit style pepperoni. Holy S%!T was is delicious! Perfectly crusty burnt cheese around the edge just like it's supposed to have. Loads of toppings! The chew to the crust was perfection! You know how sometimes you can catch a glimpse in the kitchen at a place and wonder if you should actually eat the food after seeing what you've seen? Well, not here. There's a large opening for you to look right in, and the chef is amazing! The live music is always great! The patrons are incredible. We were bellied up to the bar and in no time everyone was laughing to talking with everyone. I think they have cash drawings here as well. I didn't get a pic but the outdoor seating is quite nice too, with speakers so it has ambiance too!! One last thing; even though Tom DOESN'T have Sauvignon Blanc they DO have wine. The Pinot Grigio was surprisingly good for this little hometown bar. They even have challises for you to drink your wine from like every princess should have!!! read more

First timer at Magoo's. Great pizza options! 2 members of our party got a rum and coke and I ordered a margarita. Drinks were mixed well. We ordered a 16" Detroit-style pep and sausage and a 16" hand tossed deluxe. Wonderful! The Detroit-style had a nice caramelization of the cheese. Sauce was not too sweet, not too spicy or salty. Stopped in on a Wednesday evening for pizza and beer. We were the first customers in at 4pm. As soon as you open the door, you can smell the pizza. It is slightly overpowering at times but not bad. Magoo's is non-smoking and has a renovated patio for smokers. We ordered the Chicago-style pizza and it took maybe 15 minutes to arrive. It was hot and very filling. I consider this a 'destination pizza'. It is the type of pizza you drive to get because you like it that much. They have everyday tall boys for $3 and other specials. It is a local, after work crowd with a mix of young and old. We always enjoy coming here and look forward to coming back soon. read more

I'm a bit of a pizza connoisseur, but I had never heard of Magoo's a week ago. Now, we've had carry out pizza twice in a week. This review is only limited to their Detroit Style deep dish pizza. Both times we had the pepperoni and sausage large. Hands down, this is the best pizza in Tippecanoe County, and probably the surrounding counties. I'll have to try their other pizza styles soon. read more

I have been to Magoos three times now and haven't had the best experiences, the first time I ordered a regular hand tossed pepperoni and sausage and got a sausage and onion barbecue pizza, very surprised to take a bite and find out it was a BBQ pizza so obviously they gave me the wrong order, I tried again and ordered a regular hand tossed with pepperoni and sausage and it was done correctly but didn't wow me what so ever, I do like Detroit style pizza occasionally so I read on the menu that a small two topping 8 pc was $14.00 and was made in sqares with crust then toppings the cheese and sauce on the top which is a traditional way of making Detroit style pizzas, I didn't look at the pizza when I picked it up which was a mistake and the $14.00 two topping 8 pc pizza turned into a $17.80 6 pc pizza with little to no sauce and the sauce was not on the top it was under the cheese and topping which is not how it says they make it on their own menu, so even with tax it shouldn't have been more the $15.00 and it looks like they charged $14.00 for the pizza plus added a charge for the two toppings that the menu said it came with, bottom line either they have no clue how to make a Detroit style pizza and have no clue what the menu says on there website or they word the menu sketchy so you don't understand the preparation and actual cost, my experiences have led me to the point that I probably won't go back anytime soon and if I do ot will be to try the Chicago deep dish which is one of my favorite if not my favorite style of pizza anywhere, but due to the high cost of their Chicago deep dish it scares me to order something I won't like or enjoy, my advice to the owner or management would be to look at the website and and make sure your menu items are correctly priced and make the pizzas the way your menu says or write how you prepare your Detroit style pizzas because you do not prepare them the way it says on the menu read more
