What started with grand expectations, has unfortunately turned to dissapointment and outright fraud. Foster Fogerty made a salient (and charmingly folksy) pitch to our CrossFit gym in the spring of 2012...a clearly willing (read: easy) sell to a bunch of health-focused families wanting to explore the growing trend of family and shared farming. Many members and member's friends were in attendance. We go the spiel on the seasonal offerings and how the deliveries would be coordinated (he delivered all of our bins to the CF gym each week, we swapped our empty ones and the cycle continued). While I pride myself in rarely EVER getting taken for my $, this was a doozy. The product options were simple: $550 for a 1/2 'share' and $1000 for a full 'share'. The difference in price is the expected amount of food provided in the bins weekly. Fine. He even provided examples of what to expect (of course, with guidance that different seasons will provide different produce). Fine. This share was to cover the entire calendar year, with the reality of around 30 active weeks of produce (he referenced challenges experienced in the dreadful summer of 2011 and some spotty period during transitional plantings). Fine. 30ish it is. Give or take. Keep in mind that the money was paid, in cash/check UP FRONT. Checks paid, balls in motion...then the deliveries began. With first meager deliveries, some of us shared, comically (and a little nervously) pictures of our produce, post trimming of all the greens (think tiny carrots with entire stalk attached). First two - three deliveries were the same; after some apparent complaints (the resulting produce, if carried across 30 weeks, would be staggeringly expensive per week based on the $550), the deliveries came 'trimmed down', with a few more add-ins. Then soon after, sporadic misses in deliveries (explanations: too hot to pull veggies...it was May)...now the real concern began. Well, sparing any more disturbing details, the 'final' tally for deliveries was around EIGHT (8, ocho) before they abruptly stopped. The natives got restless...emails, phone calls, carrier pigeon relays (snark, obviously), to no response. Last deliveries were around end of summer, early fall, hard to tell since they were so inconsistent. Warnings of impending litigation thrown at them as well, and deservedly so. Mind you, from this one group, 20+ families ponied up $550 (and a few $1000)...that's a LOT of jack up front for what turned out to be nothing more than a several-months long con game. Did he over commit? Probably. Has he tried to rectify? Not in the least. This review will be followed by a complaint to the BBB. Just make sure you heed my advice and....RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Instead the deliveries stopped and so did their communication with us. Many families in our neighborhood went in with us as we tried to support our local farmers and get healthy food. Instead, they took thousands of dollars from us with nothing in return. DO NOT USE THIS FARM. Don't make the same mistake we did. Hopefully this farm will one day grow a conscience and stop taking money from others with nothing in return.
