I have been to this restaurant two times and both times were outstanding! The service was great and the food came fairly quickly. The servers did not mind explaining each dish which made me feel relaxed and comfortable. I found out later that reservations are not needed but recommended especially on weekends.

On a family trip to London we decided to stop by the corner restaurant because it was halal, 5 min walk from our Airbnb and had some high marks on Yelp. We causally walked over to find this place completely packed on a Monday evening. The host said we should have made reservations as they are always busy. Told us it would be a half hour wait. But within a few mins of him saying that a couple of tables cleared up and we luckily all got seated. Once seated we ordered up a couple of the combo platters. Time it took to get the food served was normal. Presentation was great. And the food itself was nothing short of amazing. We enjoyed all the flavors of the meats. Their garlic sauce adds an extra bonus to the meal. After dusting the platters we ordered their tea which was great as well. To sum it up: Great restaurant, awesome food, very comfortable seating and decor. If you have a large party make a reservation. We got lucky, you may not.

A little gem of a place to eat some really delicious Persian food. Deceptive from the outside, it sits quietly on a corner of Hammersmith's King Street. Inside it's warm and welcoming, a great feel of space; you can tell fun was had with the decor! We sat at the table by the window next to the giant samavar. I started with a pot of tea, a plate of the must have fresh herbs ( sabzee) and the yoghurt dips (mast- o- mooseer and mast - o- khiar ) with a basket of freshly baked bread. This was followed by joojeh kabab( chicken fillets marinated in saffron and lemon juice served with grilled tomatoes and saffron topped rice). The chicken was juicy, tender and delicious. The others were pleased with their kabab koobeedeh, makhsoos and joojeh kabab on the bone. Really good food, excellent value and great service. I will be back!

I have been fortunate to have had some really excellent Persian food at restaurants in London and around the world, but unfortunately, Mahdi is not one of them. I found the food very subpar. I had the kubideh (minced lamb kebab) and it was really mediocre. I would not return here.

I can't believe they charging you for bringing a cake in! £1 per serving , that's ridiculous. No good restaurant does that, what a shame

The average meal per person here including a cocktail, starter, mains + service charges can go anywhere between £40 - £80 (depending if you get the steak or not). It's not the cheapest place to have steaks. I've had better steaks else where, but I do enjoy the service and the restaurant as a whole. Today I am having the 200g Cheese Burger - £13.50, comes with chips. They forgot to ask how I wanted my beef cooked, so it came well done. They do serve decent food, I wouldn't say it's mind blowing but it's neither bad. Not much to complain about. I would bring friends and family, they have a huge dining area. Its kids friendly and they also serve a halal menu. There's also 5pm - 9pm happy hours on selected cocktails, but it's only available on the bottom floor/ bar area.

From this point on things went downhill VERY SLOWLY (I say slowly as that is how the rest of our order was brought out). We sat there for about 40 minutes after the starter tray was removed. During this time, another party of 5 people came in and sat right behind us, ordered, had their entire meal brought out, and our order was still not brought out. Mind you, we did not order anything special. The the manager walked by and asked me "Is everything ok?" I said NO our food was not there and our drink cups were both empty. I asked for a refill on my wife's Coke and my Water, he did have the drinks refilled and had the chops to actually ring out the refill on the coke BEFORE refilling the drink. He did nothing else to check on the other issues or even offer to see what the problem was. Our original server was totally missing in action. One other server cleared the starter plate and then another brought the meal when it finally came. Just terrible service! Near the end, our original server came back and brought the bill. I paid via my Amex and she asked if I wanted to add a tip. I said "No, not this time", to which she responded "I did kind of leave you stranded for a while". Mind you, I don't like not tipping. I know they make their living from the tips, but when the service was this terrible, I just could not bring myself to tip. This is the first time in my life I did not tip a server, so that should tell you how bad the service and management staff was. Then if all this was not enough, on my Amex I was billed twice for the meal. I would tell anyone that is looking for someplace in Westfield to eat, do NOT eat at The Meat Co.

It's one of the few places in the area that isn't "carry out only" and the food is really fresh. I especially enjoyed the soups. We ordered Thom Kha Kai, and a glassy noodle soup, to start. Both soups were totally "mmmmm"-worthy. When my fiancee requested a beer, the snarky waiter directed him to the quickie mart next door. He was completely condescending about the whole thing when we asked "So, can we bring the beers in here?" His response "Why would i tell you about it if you couldn't?!" - I was starving and didn't want to risk having a bad food experience so I decided to pretend I was in an episode of Seinfeld and just ignore it. It was the right decision, because when our entrées arrived, they were quick, fresh, and delicious. I ordered the pad see ew, and my fiancée had the red curry. Both totally satisfying. I think I would order something else next time, but it was good. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone in the neighborhood, but don't make a special trip for it. It would be perfect for a casual dinner meet up with a few friends. And the idea of bringing your own bottle of wine, is actually quite a positive in my opinion.

It's very spacious inside. Although their black bean dish Black House Daal is popular, I don't think it's something I'd reorder because I don't like beans that much in general. As a chicken tikka masala fan, I enjoyed their butter chicken the most. It's the closest thing they have to chicken tikka masala--which they don't have, they only have chicken tikka which is dry and quite spicy, has no creamy sauce. I also liked the okra fried, which is a type of fry I'm not used to seeing! It's got flavor, and I also loved the chutney and sauces on the table! I enjoyed a Dishoom Margarita which was strong in alcohol content and flavor, and a nice addition to the meal. They have an interesting drink menu, where you will find lots of nonalcoholic and rather healthy options! In my opinion, there are 2 main things to know about Dishoom: it's an Indian restaurant that is a chain, with 11 locations worldwide. The food is really good for a chain, bit it doesn't begin to come close to a restaurant that takes care of of its individual customers. Walking in, there's lots of energy. People are having a good time, there's no question. We were seated upstairs where there must have been around 40 tables. All of the staff are walking around in a hurry, cause everything here is in a hurry. The intention is to get you our in less than an hour. They want you in, through, and out. I saw this with multiple tables. Our server Yanko came to our table quite promptly and helped us make selections, both for food and drinks. For the first time in my experience eating in a restaurant, the appetizers arrived minutes before our cocktails. They came so fast that we didn't even think it was our order. And then moments after the drinks arrived, all of the main dishes and sides were placed on the table. With no way to keep anything warm. All of this with 10 minutes of placing the order. I appreciate prompt service, but this takes it to an absurd extreme. Our appetizers included the house Chaat and prawn koliwada. I enjoyed the prawns more but the flavors were facile, not close to what I expect and have enjoyed in excellent Indian restaurants. The main dishes were the Goan monkfish curry and Sali Goan. These were also just OK, absolutely nothing special. The cheese naan was soggy, though the flavor was good. This was an unacceptable texture for a naan. Dessert was Basmati Kheer, flavorful Basmati rice with fruit compote on top. In between and unneeded, was a thin layer of creme brulee. I did enjoy my tea: ginger, lemon and honey and my wife liked her mint tea. I do not know the restaurant scene in Edinburgh, we've been here for 4 days. But this is just not a place I'deven consider returning to. It's really a factory that feeds folks, not a restaurant that cares for its customers. The business model had been optimized to maximize income with lots of throughput. What's been almost completely lost in my opinion, is the heart and soul of the dining experience.
