Delicious! The menu has a nice amount of items to choose from with a fun twist on some traditional names. I ordered garlic naan, chicken chili, black daal! Everything tasted very well made and nicely spiced. My only complaint is the naan was a bit burnt. This order was for carry out and was made fresh! I'd definitely order the black daal again. Can't speak to the service because I did not dine in. The restaurant itself was lovely and felt very inviting.
I ate here solo, just to soak it all in... the aroma of spices, the buzzing energy of families and friends around me, the feeling of being fully present in the room. I ordered the lamb chops and paired them with the chicken biryani, and honestly... chef's kiss. The lamb chops were crispy on the outside, juicy inside, perfectly balanced with a tangy kick. You can taste the care in the marinade and the grill. Two generous chops, finished with a Kashmiri chilli sauce that really delivers. The chicken berry biryani was just as good (fragrant rice, tender chicken, and little pops of sweetness from the cranberries that worked beautifully!). I also had a mango fennel lassi, which was refreshing and light, and a perfect complement to the meal. To end, I took a chance on the chocolate pudding with chili. I was skeptical, but it completely won me over: warm, rich, and the texture was... mMmm so very seductively smooth. It was nothing short of perfection. And not surprisingly, the entire staff were amazing throughout--super kind, super attentive, and very on point about checking in just enough without hovering. I've been to other Dishoom locations, but this one really stands out to me personally. Not too busy, still glam, and just a really lovely place to spend time. A standout meal and experience from start to finish!

On a random Thursday, the wait was an hour but no complaints on my end. My friend and I grabbed seats at the bar and ordered Tamarind Mezcalitas. Did I expect to find an actually great mezcal cocktail in London? Absolutely not. Am I thrilled it happened at an Indian restaurant? Absolutely yes. The vibe aims to evoke 1960s Bombay Iranian cafés. I can't speak to that firsthand, but the closest comparison I can offer is: Bombay meets Bourbon Street. A 1920s Indian speakeasy. Live jazz floated down from the balcony, filling the room with warmth and energy. After conferring with our server, we landed on a few dishes to share: Lamb Chops: Exquisite. Perfectly cooked with a spiced crust and plenty of meat. Makhmali Paneer: A savory marshmallow in the best way possible; charred outside, cloud-soft inside. It genuinely redefined what is possible with paneer for me. Chicken Ruby: Dishoom's take on butter chicken--and hands down the best version I've ever had. I didn't know butter chicken could taste like this. Chocolate Chai: Think Mexican hot chocolate, but less sweet and perfect with food. I didn't plan on ordering one... and ended up having two. I don't know when I'll be back in London, but I do know that when Dishoom opens in NYC, getting a seat will be nearly impossible. And deservedly so.
VEGAN REVIEW Absolutely believe the hype! Amazing vegan English breakfast with an Indian/Iranian cafe twist. Great unlimited oat milk chai. Lovely ambiance. Servers work as a team, you won't be neglected even when it's really busy. Went to multiple locations & it was consistently delicious!
This place was super yummy! The line went outside for quite some time as it's a super popular place but they managed to seat 2 of us at a 6 people table for an hour or so before another group comes in so I was extremely grateful! We only waited around 20 minutes which was great on their end because they are super great and attentive with seating walk ins. Super chic and glamorous I felt like I transported into luxury. We ordered a few things from the fish appetizer (amritsari), side of greens, the special biryani and the ruby chicken curry! I also had a very yummy old fashioned. I thought the amritsari was really yummy but it gave my friend the runs for the bathroom cause it's quite spicy. The side of greens were definitely needed as a long day of London travel didn't really consist of much greens. The chef special biryani wow'd us in term of how large it was I definitely would say bring an entire family to share as it was quite salty and filled with carbs so I would say I had regrets of ordering side of rice. The ruby chicken curry was my favorite and it definitely tasted amazing with that side of rice. I can't wait to come back again and try other things on the menu!
I was seriously craving Indian food and my husband found Dishoom. We were too late for a reservation, so we decided to try our luck walking in and wow, the line was out the door! But don't worry they've got a system down. You get a buzzer and can wait at the bar, where we grabbed drinks and apps while vibing in the dim, vintage, speakeasy-style interior. The wait was about 25 minutes, which flew by with the lively atmosphere. When we sat down, we ordered: * Lamb Shank Biryani * Chicken Ruby * House Black Daal * Cheese Naan The biryani came with a flaky roti crust, and our waitress even offered to peel it back for my video . The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender and every bite had meat no skimping here! The black daal was creamy, savory perfection, and paired well with everything on the table. And the Chicken Ruby? A rich, flavorful curry that had my husband talking about taking a bowl of the sauce home. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. We'll definitely be back next time we are in London. Bonus: for every meal ordered, Dishoom donates a meal to a child in need. Love when great food supports a great cause
We knew we wanted to eat here when we were in London, so fortunately we reserved. We got our table right away even though there was a queue. The service was fantastic which is a feat itself when you think of how busy it is. A well oiled machine. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the Ruby Chicken, Grilled Greens and Tandoori Chaat. All were amazing. We loved our experience here. Would come again and highly recommend
Went here based on YouTube travel videos. Also, made a reservation ahead of time because of its popularity. If you like spicy food, this is the place for you. We've had spicy food in Southern California, but in comparison to how it was here, what we had before was toned down. There's no holding back at this restaurant. I wondered why the portions seemed small and just contributed it to European culture until I realized the food is so spicy that we could only eat so much in one sitting. The servers were friendly enough, although I wish they had left the pitcher of water on our table instead of us waiting for them to refill our cups. Better yet, milk might have been better. As for the restaurant itself, it's a mix of retro and modern. The bathrooms were really retro, like the toilets had the pull chain and the sink had the 2 different faucets for hot and cold. It's a nice restaurant, just know that eating the food here is like being on an episode of "Hot Ones".
Whenever we are in the area, my friends and I frequent this place pretty often. This time I switched it up and decided to try the lamb chops and okra fries. To my surprise, it was perfect. I ordered a side of rice but honestly the lamb is so well seasoned you don't even need the rice. As for the fries, it was my first time trying along with my friends. They're very picky eaters but tried to be open minded. When I say all our faces changed after trying it. We ended up with three bowls because no one wanted to share. I know many have their own idea of okra but I promise you it's worth a try. A small reminder as well, while they tend to seat pretty quickly, it'll save you the headache to make reservations ahead especially if you're like us and had a party of 5-6 ppl.
Was able to make a reservation here earlier in the day for dinner. Dishoom is one of the most popular Indian restaurants in London. This one is located in Kensington. First off, the staff are so genuinely friendly and helpful. We arrived early and were quickly seated. For our party of 3, we ordered the Nalli Nihari Biryani: a rice, lamb, and lots of spices covered by a puff pastry. My description doesn't do this dish justice as it was so flavorful. I don't like lamb, as it usually has some gamey taste. There was none of that here. It was tender and so flavorful. We also ordered Tandoori Chaat, which had pineapple and sweet potatos. So many flavors and it all went well together. The chicken tikka was good and came out as expected. The chicken ruby was fantastic, and had so much flavor, with just a bit of spicy kick. We thought there was going to be so much leftover, but between the three of us, we almost polished off everything. This easily was the best Indian food that I have had.
TikTok did not steer me wrong. My dad and I came on a Saturday afternoon for lunch - without a reservation - and they were able to promptly seat us - but just asked for the table back at a certain time, which was no problem for us. Their menu is meant to be shared - and share we did! I started with their watermelon sharbart - like watermelon juice and soda water - very light and refreshing. Then, we shared lamb samosas, the dishoom chaat, the chef's special, and a chicken roti wrap. Honestly, we didn't even touch the roti wrap and took it home because we were so stuffed after everything else. The samosas were hot, fragrant and delish. The chaat was exceptional - sweet, spicy, tangy - but also warm and cold; it was a sensory experience. The chef's special was lamb with rice and chicken liver, served in this flaky dough and...it was just so good. The whole meal was amazing. And service was fantastic as well; he took time to explain the menu, gave his recommendations, and was great at making sure we always had chilled tap water (a novelty in London). While we were stuffed and didn't try it, dessert looked amazing. I did take a chocolate chai to go and...YUM. It was decadent and the perfect sweet treat to end the dining experience.
Another day of being disappointed by another Dishoom branch. I really do not understand the hype at all. It's intensely fine and the vibe is nice and the service is good but the food is so aggressively mediocre I just can't fathom why this place has the reputation it does. I've tried all of the hits on the menu at other locations (black daal is good, chicken ruby is good, okra fries are good, broccoli salad is as good as a broccoli salad can get) so tonight I opted for something else and got the pau bhaji. As with everything else I've had at Dishoom, it was good, and adequately priced. Would I order it again? No. Would I recommend it? Not really. The best thing I've had at a Dishoom branch to date is an espresso martini which is a bizarre thing to say about a chain of popular Indian restaurants but for me it's the truth. Service really is good though and they have a smooth system. You can get out for under £20 a person easily if you aren't drinking.
This is our second time at Dishoom, first time we went for breakfast and this time was dinner. Can hands down say it was the most authentic food I've had since India. Food: extremely flavorful and delicious. The spice levels did not disappoint. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu. Cocktails: okay, would be more fun if they were more unique. Ambiance: this place was packed even when we had our reservation at 21:30. Would definitely recommend a reservation, not sure how long the wait would have been. read more
This is a chain but the provide good food and equally good service! Reservations are tough because they are always booked and busy! How ever if you are a smaller party and dont mind sitting in their bar area you can get a seat without a reservation. I ordered the chicken tikka with rice and some samosas as an appetizer. Now they weren't my favorite samosas I've ever had. But they were good and came with 3 different sauces. The chicken tikka awesome very flavorful and tasty! It also came out quickly! This place is a must visit if you are ever in the UK. read more

One of my favorite meals I've ever had! This place is a must-visit, with kind and attentive servers and just an incredible range of flavors and spices. I'd recommend at the very least ordering all of the chef specials. Cannot wait to come back again, specifically for dessert! read more

This is a great spot if you're looking for great, affordable Indian food (I didn't see a dish over £20). We visited for the first time around 5pm on April 4th without a reservation (highly recommend making a reservation, we were too jet-lagged to think about that). Fortunately we were seated for an hour slot. Shout out to our waiter, Danny. He was a great service and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the Chef's special (nalli nihari biryani with lamb), chicken ruby curry, house black daal, and garlic naan. Note that the dishes don't automatically come with rice. Everything was amazing, and I can see why this is a beloved tourist destination. read more
I stoped by this spot while visiting London, and I am so glad I did! It was a great experience and I had a wonderful time! The check in was fairly straightforward, they give you a buzzer and have you wait by their bar area. The interior is cozy with nice lighting (though it's huge Resturant). The customer service is great, I waited about 30 mins or so and had a nice glass of wine while waiting for a seat to try the delicious food. The whole Resturant is filled with delicious aromas so if you are hungry be aware (because the wait can be harder haha). They keep checking on you to see if you need anything, and once the buzzer goes off, they take you to your seat. I wanted to try their Nalli Nihari biryani; it's delicious lamb (not too gamey) and it's topped with a crispy flakey pastry. It was absolutely delicious, and the sauces were so interesting and great to dip them in! Their Nihari sauce on the side was great. Overall, I am glad I stopped by this spot, because it was neat to try a biryani that is covered in pastry (that looked so fun!) and it tasted fairly good. I would definitely be back when I visit London again P.S I took uber to this location but it didn't seem like there was a lot of parking there (as it's by the busy street of London!) read more
Amazing Indian food with great service and decor. Had an rsvp for a weekday lunch. Was seated right away and a lot of old school Indian signage and knick knacks welcomed us as decor. Ordered some garlic naan, dahl, chicken tikka, and the chicken ruby. Everything was ridiculously good - particularly the dahl and chicken ruby - these were absolute must-gets every time. Will be back - hopefully sooner rather than later! read more
Some of the most delicious Indian food I've had. The special goat briyani was great. The butter chicken or Tikki masala was one of the best I've had. I think Dishoom is a commercial success but where most chains fail, Dishoom succeeds. read more
Our third Dishoom location in London..we went for lunch. As we visited right at opening time, we were one of the first to be seated and begin dining. Though we were only one of a few tables in the restaurant to begin with, food delivery took a while. When we ordered more naan, we specifically asked if it would take a while to not hold up our meal. We were told it would be very quick but ended up waiting almost 10 minutes. Then, after asking for the check, our server decided to not bring it to us for another 15 minutes, even after we asked 2 other servers about it. No idea what all of that was about, but it soured the experience. All in all, food is great as usual but service was subpar. read more

After being referred to Dishoom by more than a few friends, we made sure to add this to our itinerary when planning a birthday/Christmas in London trip. Prior to our visit we had already eaten at Zuma, Lita Bistro, & Vatavaran so we were quite excited since all the other dining experiences were exceptional. Thank goodness we had reservations because the place was absolutely happening on a Monday at 5:15 pm! We were seated very promptly at a fantastic table near the kitchen amongst the hustle & bustle of the kitchen. The place was alive! We were exuberantly greeted by our server, Bela 154, and given an introduction of the top menu selections. Our first selections: Lamb Samosas - 4/5 Black Daal - 3/5 Chicken Ruby - 5/5 Chicken Tikka - 4/5 Naan - 3/5 Roomali Rooti - 4/5 Pretty quickly we realized we wanted to order more food, rice, and another bottle of water. We waited patiently but our server never returned. A gentleman, Prateek, in a red festive top came over and asked if we needed anything and we were delighted he was attentive to our looking around for some attention. We asked for a bowl of rice, two more clean bowls, a menu, and another bottle of water. We received the water and an additional bowl fairly quickly. We were waiting to finish our meals (chicken ruby & daal) to eat with rice. The problem is that it took our rice about 25 minutes to arrive which was surprising because every other dish came out in lightening speed. Too quick! We barely had a moment to even relax and enjoy before it all came out. After waiting, we flagged Prateek over to ask about our rice and he told us it would take another moment. We 100% believe the order was originally not placed/forgotten because as soon as we asked about it, it appeared. By the way, we still had not spoken to our server, Bela, since she took our original order. When the rice arrived, imagine our surprise when Bela came over to ask if we were finished with our meal! Well, no. What we wanted was to make a few more selections. Our second selection: Vegetable Samosas - yuck 0/5 the pastry was so thick and dry! Corn - 3/5 where was the butter? Before our second selections arrived (we wearily ordered these btw, as we were already feeling neglected by this point), Prateek came over to let us know that we would need to hurry as there were large groups waiting. Wow, we had officially been there under an hour, of which 20+ minutes was spent waiting for a bowl of rice. But yes, we promise to finish quickly so we refrained from ordering a birthday dessert, & opted not to finish our second selections which was fine since they were not special. We also had the pleasure of receiving our bill with most of the dirty dishes still not cleared from our table. There had been one earlier clearing from Prateek after we ran out of room on the table and stacked the plates ourselves. I will include a copy of our bill. We received the check at 6:19 pm, reminder that our reservation was at 5:15 pm! When Bela finally made it over to give us the bill, she asked us for the first time how our meal was. Underwhelming. My husband informed her that our service was neglectful and that she perhaps needed more help. We understand a place being busy and give much grace as I was in service myself for ten years but this was just not a nice experience. We had heard so much about the amazing Indian food in London so we are thankful we had an exceptional experience at Vatavaran a few nights before. Go for the vibe. If you end up getting better service than we did, then consider it a triumph. As for the food, it comes out so very very fast that it tells me it may be sitting pre made? This was not our experience at other places. The food was cooked to order. Well, I guess they did make that one bowl of rice to order since it was in fact the one dish that took forever. Sooo tasty!! 5 pounds for only 2 pieces of naan is a bit much, but the food was so flavorful. Especially enjoyed chef's special biryani. Incredible!! Also had the popular chicken ruby, suggested by our server. The chicken ruby was tasty, but on the sweeter side and underspiced to me. read more
Service wasn't great at this location. The waiters were rushing around juggling too many tables so we felt rushed and uncomfortable. Besides that, we found the drinks to be fairly decent and food was above average. Will try another location the next time I'm in the UK because we really enjoyed the Chicken Tikki and Black Daal dishes. read more

Our family enjoyed an excellent dinner at Dishoom Kensington tonight. We had an excellent appetizer of papadum with tangy chutneys. Then we had a broccoli salad, okra fries, along with coconut curry goa fish, black dahl, ruby chicken. The entrees were great! We also had paratha and garlic naan. The brulee rice pudding at the end was very good. Service was excellent. The room was crowded and everybody was having a good time. read more

One of the best Indian food I have had. The Indian restaurant in the states are typically mom and dad shop with small space and average interior. But, this place looks high end with professional staffs. What more do I need to say XD. read more
OMG the food here is amazing! I'm going to dream about it until I come back. They have so many vegan options. Definitely will need to come back to try the rest of the vegan options. Literally the best! A must stop anytime I'm in the UK. Their black daal is seriously next level. I keep chasing this high anytime I go to an Indian restaurant and none of them live up to Dishoom. We also got the house chaat, chota papad with mango chutney, Mattar paneer, paneer Makhani, and some garlic naan. The curries don't come with rice on their own so we also got 2 sides of rice (although we probably could've made do with just one). Everything was so delicious and I'm so sad my trip Is almost over and I can't go back again before I leave! read more

Honestly for a chain this place was really good. The interior of the restaurant is stunning. My only complaint was the size of the chairs - i guess they don't have big butts because it was a tight fit lol The food was awesome. We got the chaat which was creamy and delicious, okra fries that were super crispy! We got the ruby chicken and another dish I can't remember the name of. Both were flavorful. All the food came super fast. My only complaint was that our waitress was so slow at bringing us the bill lol read more

Beware if you can't handle spicy food (like me). I really wanted to be able to enjoy everything but struggled to because of my low spice tolerance. Had a No-Hafta Colada (non-alcoholic piña colada basically), Mango Lassi, Okra Fries, Dishoom House Chaat, Chicken Ruby and another chicken dish. read more
