This Block Island bar is an absolute "must-go-to" spot for nighttime sing-a-longs, drinking, and dancing in the iconic Mobil shack on the dock! They have live music every night. Dave and Scott are our favorite musicians. My husband and I have been here multiple times with friends or by ourselves, and we always have a great time. Drink prices are decent. Staff while efficient are also pleasant. When it is slow, they engage customers in dialogue. When it's busy, they quickly make and serve drinks. This place has a special place in our hearts... This place is awful. They said we were underage when we're over 21. My friends and I are 23 and they denied serving us alcohol on a TUESDAY. It's a joke. They also didnt ID half of us and then the rest of us they denied us. Very poorly run. read more

Stopped by the other day with family. It was quite busy with COVID going on and for a Saturday. The staff was really moving and there was some seating. The staff made sure the sanitize everything. It has a good view and wide selection of drinks. Reasonably priced for Block Island. We came here twice and would totally come again. They are right behind Payne's and the taffy shop. This bar has a great location with a great view, unfortunately the bartenders are very rude and disrespectful, and we're being incredibly rude towards my whole family when everyone was well above drinking age. I am still shocked my daughter and fiance (25 and 27 years old respectively) both got their ids taken from them and were not able to be served. Manager was also very rude towards us when we got things cleared up with police and had ids given back to us. The staff at this place was not only rude, but also disrespectful, yall should take your money and business to a different bar on Block. read more

Favorite bar visited on BI. Why? Because of the beautiful setting on Payne's Harbor. Bright and inviting space. Kind of hip, more so just brand new with cute lights and a clean bar/sitting area. Cash only, and you will have to pay for each drink up front. Lots of straight forward drinks kind of new classics like Tito's with a splash of lemon (the Jona-thin). Love the sense of humor mixed with nice vibes. Def not a divey bar, at all. Come here to start the night, and look at some gorgeous boats docked. Enjoy! read more

I have a review from many years ago for Payne's Dock. And I'll say the same. Good people good drinks some staff could be a bit faster however it's a solid place. Block Island is made up of many and most places including Mahogany Shoals seem to welcome all. I'll be back soon and report differently if needed... So I went back on Sunday evening 7/19/20. $12 cups of ice with a splash of vodka and Coffee liquor Is hardly a mudslide...unfortunately for me I left a tip also. Didn't feel welcome this time back however I didn't see or hear what other reviews have written. Bad vibes bar. Do not go if you want to be treated with dignity and respect, and if you don't want to get ripped off. One of only two bad reviews I had ever Yelped. 1. Charged different prices to different people who ordered the same drinks. 2. Overcharged someone on another tab by 20 dollars. 3. And worst of all. My nephew and his girlfriend were carded. Although they were both 22, the manager of this bar, rude as can be, 8/9/19 confiscated their ids and said they were going to call the police. His parents went to speak to the manager to vouch for their son. She told them parents lie. When the police came and cleared their ids, manager didn't apologize. She told the young man he should put his parents on a leash and then still refused to serve them. 4. This used to be a special place where they cared about their customers. Now in my experience it seems all they care about is ripping off customers and making a lot of money. Sad. read more

If I could give this bar 0 i would. The "manager" was so rude for no reason. Wouldn't accept my ID even though I'm well of age. Don't work at a bar if you don't want to deal with people drinking. Great bar, great nights, great music and great drinks!! Love this place. Good Good vibes and sing alongside! It made the week. Even lost my jacket and they were VERY helpful. Hard working bartenders and excellent music and choices of music. U can be inside or outside. Away from the noise or a part of it and ohhhh the views!!! Best bar on block island. The bartenders know what they are doing and serve everyone with a smile. Most of the bartenders that I came across on the island were miserable. The live music along with the harbor view makes this place a great spot for a night out. read more

This place is violating so many COVID rules, it's upsetting. Almost no one in this bar was wearing a mask and the bar was completely packed, there was no place to distance from anyone. Also I should have listened to previous reviews because this bar definitely welcomes a RACIST clientele, as I witnessed (the very few) patrons who were people of color being treated poorly. Overall the vibe here does not reflect the positive vibe of Block Island and I would suggest taking your business elsewhere. read more

Horrible service. The bar "manager" refused to serve me even though I am well over 21, and was not drunk or rowdy for I had just arrived. Apparently she has never seen a Maine license before. Even though I was upset with the service, I ordered a water and sat down. Later, she came up to me randomly and asked if I needed anything, I said no, and she replied "good" with an extremely rude attitude, when I was minding my own business. If you go to Mahogany Shoals and expect a pleasant experience, turn around and literally go anywhere else. Disgusting. read more

Great drinks with an incredibly rude management and staff. My brother and his best friend (both 21 years old) got carded when they ordered their first couple of drinks and when they went to get a third drink, they were carded again and harassed by the manager. My brother's friend had his ID confiscated and the police were called. When the police arrived an hour later and cleared his ID, the manager refused to apologize. She told my brother's friend that she will not apologize for doing her job. Another staff member told them to go somewhere else if they didn't like the rules. Both young men had valid identical Maryland IDs. A few days later, my boyfriend and I stopped by for a drink (he's 22 and I'm 23) and our IDs were scrutinized as well. The same staff member stared at them for what seemed like forever and put them under black light for a long time. When she realized that we were with my brother and his friend, she finally gave them back and served us. Very unfriendly to young people. They should be able to recognize a valid ID. read more

From the moment we walked up to the restaurant we were already confused, no hostess or hostess table. Told we could get take out or wait till 6 to sit down. Take out selection was nothing special so we decided to wait till 6 to get the dinner menu. 6 o'clock comes around and we seat ourselves and don't get waited on for 20 minutes as waiters and waitresses passed us again and again. Finally, the bartender has to come over and tell the waiter to get us menus. Menus come and they turn out to be the same as the take out menu. Another 15 minutes pass and the bartender has to come over again and take our order this time. A little bit later a waitress asks for our order which we told her we already ordered with the bartender. Then, about an hour passes and the bartender has to go check on our food and it's not even made yet. Finally about 15 minutes later we get it and no waitress or waiter comes to see how we're doing or if the food was even good until the end. Two stars because the food was good but not good enough for an hour and 15 minute wait. Bartender deserves raise. read more
