It's an old building in need of some remodeling and reviving but it's spotless and the real jewel here is the people that work there and the passion that they have for producing a great product. Today they seem to be more social and civic-oriented. The chapter near me is in Elgin, IL, a distant western burb of Chicago, just south of Interstate 90, and their Friday night fare offers a choice of Haddock, Catfish, Walleye, Shrimp, or a Grilled Chicken Breast, including sides of slaw, baked potato, fries, rings, or seasoned baby reds. Rolls and butter are also provided as well as generous amounts of tartar sauce, lemon and butter. All entrees are priced between $11-$13, and service is from 5-8PM Fridays at the hall, which is located at 112 Villa Street in Elgin. Parking is in the rear of the building, service is on the second floor. There is a full bar, and their hours are longer than just the dinner service. We opted for the catfish, as it was a whole fish, bone-in, lightly battered, and it's been difficult for us to find bone-in cat lately, most everyone serves filets. American habits, I guess.  Also had the walleye, and exceptionally large filet, nicely breaded, and went with the onion rings for a side, large whites with a tasty thick beer batter. Both fish selections were prepared perfectly. Crispy coatings, flaky, moist flesh. The slaw was creamy but with a little bit of kick to it. Service was fast with an affable professional waitperson who came around just often enough to make sure our drinks were kept full. I had been once before. 2016 apparently, and I wrote about it on this site. At that time, the service was on the lower level, but it's moved upstairs which is roomier and lighter. I'll go several more times before Easter, I guarantee it. While I haven't checked their calendar recently, they also used to serve special dinners on National and German holidays.

We started shopping the makers market, which didn't have a lot of vendors, but had enough of different things to make it interesting. Then we had charcuterie cups filled with crackers, nuts, chocolate, fruit, salami, and cheese. A bit overpriced for what they were but glad to have something snackie. We also had a flight of mimosas, and finished off the day by making a beautiful Bouquet of fresh flowers. They did have pancake vendor as well. I didn't try it since I wanted a savory snack. I wish the food choices were advertised better. It was a small sheet of paper on a table. I never even knew this was a possibility but stumbled upon it, thanks to the power of Google, when I was looking for a venue that would accommodate 50-ish people for my son's baptism reception lunch. This place definitely won't break the bank by any stretch of the imagination. The only downside is that it's not much to look at. The hall is nice and airy, 2 walls of windows let ample light stream in, and a wall of floor to ceiling mirrors reflect the light. The floors are wood, and the walls are cream, which provide a nice neutral palette for decorating without worrying about clashing. There's a tiny little kitchen in the back corner, complete with microwave and a full-sized refrigerator. Obviously they don't cater or anything, which is both a plus and a minus. They don't even have a coffee maker on hand, so be prepared to bring your own. What they do supply, or at least claim to, are 6-8 tables and 40-50 chairs. What we found when we arrived were 3 tables and about 20 chairs. We never did locate the rest of the tables and chairs, but we made due with what we had. This place isn't fancy by any stretch of the imagination, but if you're looking for a nice facility to hold a lunch or a get-together that isn't in your home, Algonquin's Historic Village Hall is a great option. We will definitely keep this place in mind for our next party.

You can tell Concorde center takes great care of the land. I will say this venue would be best for weddings under 100-110 people max. It's the not biggest. We had 95 people and it was perfect with enough space for a dance floor and photobooth. A few downsides that could be worked on is you have to choose their preferred caterers. They give you only 3 options. First option never got back to me. I called and emailed them multiple times and never heard a word back. I would advise Concorde to take them completely off their list. Second place was pricey and out of our budget. The woman who owns it was very busy and seemed uninterested in our event. The last place I had no choice but to go with was 31 North. Which we were dissatisfied with their food. I also wish they would allow you to go into the homes a little earlier than 10 am. Considering it can take hours for a bridal party to get ready the day of. Other than that everything went very smoothly and I'm glad I choose this venue close to home.

I have to say the vendor list could be better- we ended up using The Caterist which was outside the vendor list without a fee. Overall a great location for a memorable wedding and flexible staff.
