We hired Justin to be our property manager in 2022, since we are military and were moving out-of-state. We fired him this last September (2024) after we discovered he was slum-lording our property. When the tenants he put in (without notifying us ar all) skipped out after a month and a half of paying no rent, my husband made the trip from California. We didn't tell Justin he was coming as we wanted to see for ourselves how he was handling our property. There had been Many red flags (still-uncollected deposits, difficulty getting him to communicate with us, getting half information from him, clearly cropped photos, etc.). My husband went to the house alone and found the house in need of Many repairs, reaking of dog piss, as well as completely unlocked. Whether that was from the cleaners we got charged $900 to do a half-ass job or from potential renters that were just given the keys by the office to go view the house (that literally happened while my husband was there) or from Justin's own neglegence, we'll never know. The cherry on top was when we looked at the final transactions with Justin and saw that he had taken 10% of the security deposit. When we challenged him he said he was considering it "income collected" and so was taking his cut. To say we shut that down Hard is putting it mildly. We also demanded the unpaid pet deposit money he failed to collect when his tenants moved in. Currently Justin, as well as his (wife's) real-estate firm of Coldwell Banker, is under investigation by the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission. It turns out that Justin had zero qualifications to act as our Property Manager as he does not have a real-estate licensed.

So naturally, when I got the news that I was going to be spending almost 4 months in Altus, I quickly put in my request for a room. And let me tell you, my experience was far better than I ever imagined. Mike and Skylar are absolutely phenomenal landlords. They made the process of booking a room with them super easy. They were always quick with their responses if you had any questions and were quick to fix any problems if they came up with the house. While I was there they were making upgrades to the house and doing some small renovations to make sure we were getting the best experience possible. Not only that but they were there for any questions you had on life after Altus if you needed it as well. Crystal, the cleaning lady, comes once a week to make the place look like new. I had heard of other crash pads having issues with their cleaning lady but never with Crystal. Lastly, The Bat Cave will give you the opportunity to create friendships that you'll carry with you throughout your entire career. Didn't matter if you were a KC-135 guy or a C-17 guy, if you were at The Bat Cave you were one of the bros. Couldn't have asked for a better group of dudes then the ones I got the chance to live with while I was there. So if you're looking for a place to stay, the search stops here.
