I find the owner to be very rude, scary and condescending. He did a repair on my bag and didn't stand standby what he said when it broke again. He charged me so much and I couldn't believe he denied ever fixing it. He lost his temper, spit as he spoke to me and cursed at me. He sent me out of his store in tears. Main Shoe Repair in Livingston is owned by the Caldwell Shoe Repair which gets very high marks. I highly recommend these businesses if you have shoes pocketbooks, or leather goods in need of repair. Yesterday, I brought in a suede jacket that was torn. The owner quickly came up with a solution, (create a patch and sew it in such a way that it looks like it was meant to be part of the jacket), and in 2 hours, I got a call that the jacket was ready. I picked it up today and the repair work was fantastic. I will bring all of my shoes and leather repair needs to these ships, and so should you. DO NOT USE. I brought in a pair of dress boots for a new heel. After I picked them up I went to put them on and the zipper fell off in my hand. I brought them back to repair the zipper and he wanted to charge me. The zipper worked fine when I brought them in and fell off when I picked then up so he definitely is responsible. He told me he would have to take apart the leather to put the zipper back on and it was a big job. He insisted the zipper would not go back on without taking it apart. He even demonstrated how the zipper could not go back on from the top. He was very rude and nasty. I left the store and after 5 minutes I was able to get the zipper back on and it is now working properly. Not only was the owner rude about insisting that I pay for the repair, but he was DISHONEST about what needed to be done to fix the zipper. DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN WITH YOUR SHOES. HE IS NOT REPUTABLE!! read more

I was so nervous to get my beautiful bag fixed because the leather is very high quality. The intricate detailing around the shoulder strap had come loose and I didn't think it would be possible to repair. Isaac assured me it would be fixed within 2 days. He called me after 1 day to say it's ready. When I picked up my bag i was stunned. There was absolutely no way to tell that the bag had every been broken. His work was literally perfect and I am so happy. I intentionally waited a few months to write this review to make sure that everything stayed in place, and the strap feels just as strong now and looks just as beautiful as it did the day I picked it up. For my most recent pair of boots that I took to get fixed, the bottom of the heel had fallen off and the leather around the sides of the heels were also falling off. These boots are years old and they look brand new! I've taken many other pairs in (boots, dress shoes, men's, women's), all with the same result. I don't ordinarily take the time to write reviews, but this one deserves it. I wandered into Main shoe repair because I happened to see the sidewalk sign that said they fix handbags. I had just returned from a trip and had a tote bag where the handle needed repair And all of the stitching needed reinforcement. The owner, Isaac, greeted me with a smile and assured me that he would take care of it. Less then an hour later called to let me know he had finished it. When I returned, I brought an expensive handbag with a complicated metal clasp that had broken. Isaac said he would do his best to fix the clasp. No more than a day later I received a call that all was repaired. Not only had he fixed the clasp and secured it better than before, but he also cleaned the whole bag for me free of charge! I will never go to any other repair store now that I have found a local, friendly, reliable place for shoe and handbag repair and cleaning. I highly recommend this merchant! read more
