It was just before 5 pm on Tuesday when we were strolling through Down Town Franklin. Everything was closing up, except the coffee shop. I needed a pick me up, so we stoped in. It smelled SO good. We ordered a vanilla latte for me, and the hubbs got himself a yogurt, which he thought was the perfect thing for a late summer afternoon. What i thought was awesome is the little tags on the wall. It's a gift station where you can buy a tag and leave it for someone else. So I did that, I bought a muffin and a coffee for -ANY- teacher that wanted it. There were hikers leaving them for hikers, Strangers for Community servants (think fire fighters and police, etc) there were a couple that I'm told leave them for each other and just shift the tag back and forth. It's such a wonderful idea. read more

A very cute and comfortable cafe in downtown Franklin with free wifi. They serve fresh ground and brewed coffee drinks made with triple filtered water, and fresh baked treats. This isn't pre-ground, pre-packaged stuff that diners serve. It's real! I personally like the iced soy latte and a cherry biscotti with chocolate frosting, baked by Helen. Mmm! There's also cool photo art on the walls by the owner Sandy's husband Tom to peruse while you're enjoying your drink and treats. The service is fast and always with a smile. I'd love to give these guys 5 stars, but I had to take one off for the remarkably slow service. Of course, this could be interpreted as part of the quaintness in this quiet, peaceful and beautiful town along the Appalachian Trail. But this was amazingly stoner-dude slow. Not that they had that excuse. But that was probably just the guy or girl there that day, and not a sign of the usual wait time. However, this little coffee/yogurt shop is on a beautiful small-town Main Street like Mayberry or something. Well, it's a lot bigger than Mayberry, but you know what I mean. It seems like the town is in a constant celebration of something, perhaps tourism, and there is alway a market town feeling, as if you had medieval economics but with modern accoutrements. I know that sounds weird, but it really is a charming little town. I felt relaxed the whole time, even waiting for my latte. Definitely worth dropping in. read more
