Cherokee/Bryson City area has been my little vacation spot for the last decade of my life (I grew up coming to this area in the summers to tube). I've been coming to Qualla Java Cafe since probably 2016. I can honestly say after 10 years, I've never had a bad drink here. They have a bunch of drinks - all with pretty fun names. Again, I've never had a bad drink here so it's fun to just randomly pick one. The service is always really fast and I'm never really in their long. Sorry if my review isn't better - coffee shops are kind of hard for me to review because coffee doesn't really look good in picture form. Just drink it! read more

Stopped here after going through the Smokey Mountains. This place is super cute! They have a large drink menu from teas, coffees, to lemonades and smoothies. I've had their chai tea before and they were really good but I opted for an orange hibiscus lemonade. It wasn't too sweet and was very refreshing. They offer a variety of non-dairy milk alternatives too. There are some bakery items but I didn't see anything labeled gluten-free. They have restrooms available for customers in the back and many different seating areas. There is also a patio outside that overlooks a creek where you can sit as well. read more

On February 25, 2026, my family and I visited a local coffee shop and had an excellent experience, thoroughly enjoying the coffee. Due to our positive impression, we returned there the following day, intending to purchase a birthday latte for my partner. We were staying at a nearby casino and chose to walk past a Starbucks to visit Qualla. We requested our lattes to be prepared extra hot. When I received my latte, I found it was only warm. I informed the staff member, who responded dismissively, suggesting that I had left the latte sitting too long, which was not accurate, as I was waiting for it. She reheated the same latte. Similarly, my friends received their lattes with the same issue--they were not served at the requested temperature. Two of my friends chose not to complain, but one did raise the issue. Both staff members responded with unprofessional expressions of disapproval. Throughout the interaction, I maintained a respectful attitude, remaining courteous and polite. As I was leaving, I wished them a pleasant day, but my good wishes were ignored. This experience was disappointing and unprofessional, especially considering it involved my family. I had planned to return, but due to this encounter, I no longer feel comfortable doing so. read more

I got a very good cup of coffee here. They offer three types of roast for the drip coffee. I wanted a breakfast sandwich but that was not available. Instead you can pick up toasted bagels or desserts. A good place to warm up with coffee. read more

The coffee here is top tier and we've all discussed it a few times since, it might be the best coffee we've ever had. The employees are not talkative, don't want to engage in conversation when we do try and overall don't seem thrilled to be there. Which is odd considering the entire place is serving caffeine. Such a cozy coffee shop located in downtown Cherokee and next to the Oconaluftee River. The baristas are super friendly and their lattes are 10/10. We got the pumpkin pie lattes are oh my did they taste exactly like a pumpkin pie! They have lots of indoor seating and if we had more time I would definitely have read a book on one of their cozy couches with my latte. read more

Was in town visiting and wanted to try local coffee places so we came to this place as they roast their own coffee beans. We walked in and were greeted with a warm welcome. It does seem to be the place where all the locals hang out and work or enjoy a game chess(there was a couple of gentlemen playing chess outback.) The menu board is up above the counter or they have menus by the register. They have some unique flavors and drink options as well as a few bakery type items some made locally. I opted for the turtle dove which is an iced drink. It has Carmel and white chocolate. It is a bit sweet but has a wonderful flavor. Would definitely order again Hubby opted maple spiced shaken espresso off the fall menu. It's iced with whole milk as well. It has a good coffee flavor it's better once you drink some down and can mix it up better. It was perfectly balanced with sweet and coffee. Pumpkin scone(locally made) could have used more of a pumpkin flavor but was crumbly and paired well with coffee. Overall would definitely recommend coming here and will come back. The best bang for your buck in Cherokee! This cafe offers a twist to a normal coffee shop. I've never seen some of the items that they offered on their menu. Additionally, it is SO reasonably priced. My family stopped by the cafe during a road trip and for 5 drinks, we only paid $28.00! The cafe was decorated for Halloween/fall and an employee was roasting coffee beans during our visit Pro tip: make sure you visit the back patio for some great view and also to snap a picture of your drink. read more

This business will survive purely because it's in a touristy area and one of the only options. The staff is unfriendly and the service is excruciatingly slow. This is a great little coffee shop in Cherokee. I wanted to try something new while I was in the area and their flavors were fun and all the reviews were great so I stopped in after an early morning elk viewing and I was not disappointed. I got the black snake iced which is BlackBerry and vanilla and I have not stopped thinking about it since. I can't wait to be back in the area so I can get it again! Very nice matcha latte. Nice inside, and we ate outside by the river on a warm fall day. Good service. Decent coffee. A strong 4 stars.

Food: Holy moly. The scones are horrible. I got one peach, one mocha. They are incredibly dry and cold. Very dense and heavy. Made me wonder if I was eating them wrong or needed some more preparation to them, like heating them. The dirty sodas are perfect, though. The smoothies separate very easily, need to be drank quickly. Service: Good service. Kind people. When I got my dirty soda, the woman who called out my order was extremely quiet and mumbled out my order. Ambiance: Good. Not warm, but not cool. Many chairs for resting. When it's busy, the line still goes by fast. When not busy, it's pretty calm. Overall, the scones ruined everything for me. Rating for a smoothie I bought today. It was not properly blended and had huge chunks of ice. There was so much ice that a straw was useless. With tip I paid $9 for this. Tips shouldn't be asked for until after service is provided. Flavor was bland with no fresh fruit. read more

Super peaceful coffee shop with a bunch of fun flavors. Maybe not as strong in the coffee dept but their flavors make up for it. The menu is pretty extensive with some basic coffee options but most of the menu is specialty flavored lattes. Prices are very reasonable too! I got an iced pumpkin pie latte and I enjoyed it. The syrup they use seem different than the standard pumpkin flavor. They also added spices into the drink which I liked. It's located in a strip mall and they have a decent amount of indoor seating. The staff are very informations regarding the menu items and make wonderful suggestions. They have a lot of sugar free options available so you aren't stuck with the standard sugar free vanilla option like most places. The hubster loves frozen coffee drinks and ordered the buttered bear which was very sweet and loaded with caramel flavor. I ordered the climbing bear which is a cold brew latte with sugar free dark chocolate, sugar free vanilla and I added sugar free white chocolate as well. It was so sinful and delicious! We had coffee here every morning for the two weeks we stayed in Cherokee! It was so good I had to get one of their travel mugs to commemorate the party in my mouth. My go-to quickly became the Raven Mocker... Blackberry in a latte? Seriously?!? Oh. My. Word. It works. Totally unexpected, and somehow it works. Since we full-time RV and the baristas wouldn't let me take them and their espresso machine to make me these on the daily, I picked up some blackberry simple syrup to *a-hem* attempt to make these on my own.
