There is a girl/ lady that works there that has such a dynamic personality. If you have been there, you know who I'm talking about. Her name is Shannon. Simply the best. While I lived in Willits, this video store was my savior for video entertainment. Huge selection of the most varied movies I have ever seen. I am now living in McKinleyville where there is a huge video store that pales in comparison to Main St. Music and Video. Truly a case of quality over quantity. The sweet, sweet folks that work there are always helpful and kind. They are as varied as the video selection. My interest in movies/documentaries is quite wide. Whether it was foreign, GLBTQ, main stream, obscure, science fiction, TV shows or something you just read about, they will probably have it OR will order it for their inventory. It's rental or sales for the videos. Main St. Music and Video is one of the few things I really miss about living there. Please tell them hello for me when you go in. Maybe some of the long timers working there will remember me, Mr. Movie/Spider Man/Sponge Bob. They also have a large music section but that was not my interest. Go, go, go to MSM&V. read more

As walk in the store I am always greeted with a mock look of "not again" and then a smile. I am always looking to buy but never want to look for the movie myself. So I put on my most charming helpless look and the clerks help me out. They always have time for the customers and the knowledge one would expect from such a store. If it exists I do believe they will find it for you. As far as mom and pop shops, most could learn from the friendly outgoing staff here. read more

I've tried to come here a handful of times in the years I've lived in willits and it's always been a terrible experience. I've never actually gotten them to accept my business. I came in once a few years ago looking for a copy of the Hobit, the woman behind the counter ignored me for the longest time until I demanded her attention. She responded shortly that they didn't have it and weren't going to get it, which is hard to believe, then resumed pretending I wasn't there. My husband had a similar experience. The other times I've been there whoever is behind the counter will see us, ignore us and then mysteriously disappear when we are ready to check out. Recently they added a little restaurant and we decided to give them another chance. again, the people behind the counter saw us and promptly walked away and never came back. We joked that we should just take the food we wanted since we can never get them to accept our business, but instead we did the right thing, but our items back and went across the street to Busters who are always friendly and willing to accept our business. As far as I can tell, they don't want to serve people they don't consider locals, who were born and raised in Willits. We lived here for years and years and never had any luck with this place. SO disappointed!! I had read negative comments about customer service..asked a few people at work. NONE of them go there and I work for the largest employer in our County. But I decided that I wanted to support local small business now that I have moved here from Redwood Valley to be closer to my work. Guess What?? SO unfriendly! Wanted a piece of mail as a form of ID plus a photo ID. What does a piece of mail prove? Who carries a piece of mail in their purse? I offered company photo ID PLUS CDL..and of course bank card. It's 4th of July weekend in Willits so most people know what getting through town and finding a parking space was like. My checks have my address...nope and not polite or in the least concerned that I wasn't going to become a customer. She just said "It's the bosses decision..have a nice day" and walked away! Guess what? It is MY decision not to go back, and when asked..I will tell it like it is!! Okay, I am done venting. Will go on Xfinity or ANY site online and pay whatever to rent a new release. I am going to upgrade my Netflix and start ordering DVD's by mail... read more
