Four of us purchased the LivingSocial for the easy hike. None of us had been hiking in Georgia…read morebefore, so we thought this might be a nice introduction. When I contacted the outfit for scheduling and requesting an easy hike on a Saturday, Dante (the guide and the person behind the company, I think) emailed back letting me know there would be an easy hike on the following Sunday. We figured that was fine, even though that meant skipping church and doing something that would take several hours on the day before we're all supposed to be back at work. I read these other two reviews and got a little nervous, so I tried to prepare everyone in the group. We brought additional food with us. First, I get really hungry. Second, I'm vegetarian and I figured that wouldn't necessarily be accommodated, so I didn't bother to ask.. Also, I had to not let the spelling and punctuation in the emails bother me. So I got over that. Thursday before the hike, we got an email letting us know we would be doing our hike at Virginia Bryant State Park in Royston, GA and the wine tasting at Boutier Winery, about 12 miles away from the park. He also told us what he was bringing for lunch, and told us to bring our own water. I thought that specificity was helpful. That state park is 90 miles away from Atlanta, so we carpooled and gave ourselves plenty of time. We found the group pretty easily (just drive toward the ranger station and look for a group of people). The guide is really nice and friendly. He had us all introduce ourselves. During the hike, he also walked his way up and down the line of folks, making sure to talk to everyone, and, I think, keeping track of folks so no one was left behind. We stopped twice so people could have water and a snack (that we brought ourselves - that wasn't provided) and so we could take some photos. Our group paced together pretty well, so staying together was easy. We had lunch together at a covered area in the park. He set out the food (wraps, turkey, mustard, carrots, arugula, kale, dates, pomegranates). It was the perfect hiker's lunch, light, not too much. I didn't really need to have brought additional food for the meat-eaters. I did have my own no-meat sandwich. We then drove over in a caravan to the winery. We got the six tastes, which were pretty generous pours. We could have paid for additional tastes or glasses of wine. The wine was pretty decent. Previous encounters with Georgia wines had been with wines made of muscadine, which is super-nasty. This stuff was all right. I would never pay $95 for this, but it was fine for $39. Now that we know about that park and winery, we can do it on our own. I would recommend this for folks who are hesitant about hiking alone or don't know the area.

It was hard to make friends (keep in mind, I am social type of person) and do the things I love. I met Steve on Facebook. He was so kind and you could tell from his posts, that he just wanted to help people. I finally reached out to him and attended an event. It was an event that was the beginning to my "normal." It was the first event I attended and honestly was a bit nervous bc I have been to "meet-up" groups and well they weren't all pleasant experiences. Everyone was so nice, inviting, down to earth just good people. Everyone has their own personality, no one judges, we come together do fun events, events that help our community, we learn at these events...it's just an awesome experience. I could write a whole page!! The point is...I got involved with this group looking to make friends. Not only did I make friends, but these friends turned into my second family here in Atlanta. We rode in the 1964 Rolls Royce Enamour and it was a great ride. The driver was punctual, the red carpet was rolled out, and we were even given champagne and flute glasses after we arrived at our hotel. I am glad we got it. My only issue I have is we were not allowed to make any stops. It would have been nice to be able to take some pictures with the Atlanta skyline at night. I had 2 working dogs with me on leashes and left within the hour without hooking up as I did not feel safe. I had to scramble for another park on a Saturday evening, twice as far away from where I needed to be. Refund was refused, even though the office manager who I reached on Monday said this has occurred before. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau.

We arranged a 3 month stay at Ghost Hill Campground to begin in early April. The website…read moremisrepresents the campground by showing pictures of what appears to be retired couples enjoying a quiet evening on a spacious lot with grass and trees and serenity. Upon arrival we were shocked to find the campground a vast, densely crowded city of motorhomes packed like sardines in an infrastructure of crushed stone roads and RV lots as far as the eye can see. I talked to Susan a few days later and asked if we left early would we be able to receive a reimbursement. She said if we left by April 15th, she would reimburse us half of our payment, since they have a long list of people waiting to get into the campground. We jumped through hoops to find an alternate living arrangement and moved the RV out on April 12th. We talked to Susan that afternoon to let her know we were off the property and how she wanted to handle the reimbursement. Susan now changed her story and decided that they were not going to reimburse any funds. I pleaded with Susan that we would have not gone through so much trouble and additional expense if she had told us that from the beginning. Susan denied she ever offered anything. We could hear her husband berating her in the background. A truly sad place and sad situation. This is a place for folks looking for a long-term low-income environment to live. All others beware.
