If its Tuesday, and you're on Eglinton West... YOU MUST DROP IN! Mainsha has a local reputation for one of the best "toonie Tuesday" specials in the City! Come with patience as the place is usually packed, and the service can sometimes be slow - but leave with a few orders... One is never enough for me! $2.50 gets you a nice big piece of chicken, rice and peas and a small side of coleslaw. I also suggest getting a fresh juice as well! Bootlegged albums and movies can also be purchased from some creative street vendors outside lol

I had better jerk chickens before but I just love the toony Tuesday deal where you get a nice meal for $2.5 There is some line up and about 20 minutes wait but it's worth it.

It has that Smokey jerk chicken flavour that you can only get in Jamaica. Their jerk chicken is fresh, never behind a glass to be heated. First your get your rice (if you're going for the convo) and then you go outside and the chef puts either Jerk Chicken or Jerk Pork into your plate. You can get a small for $11 or medium for $18. You can also just get meat only for $12 (small), large was maybe $20. The hours are odd though. 8:30pm-2:30am so you might not be a person that eats that late, but if you do, perfect spot! There are a couple of seats in here, but it's mainly for takeout. Cool staff as well.

When it was time for me to order a different girl (girl2) helped me. I accidentally told her small jerk chicken then after I changed it to a large. girl2 gave me the dirtiest look, and girl1 told her to just change it for me. When it was time to pay girl2 said it's $18 then quickly changed her mind and said $19. I handed her $20 and then girl2 asked girl1 for $1 change. Girl1 questioned the $1 change because normally they would give $2 change for a large jerk chicken. I did not say anything as she was already giving attitude and her face was not having it. It was also not my turf. Girl 2 basically changed the price for my jerk chicken based on her mood. Terrible service from girl2. Not impressed... Food is good but unfortunately her service brought down the rating.

So some web searches found Sheryl's - located on Eglinton Weat near Dufferin. A higher power encouraged me to go in, but making it pour rain right as I was getting in. Immediately I could smell the Carribean spices. Mmm mmm mmm! I ordered by curry goat roti, wish coleslaw and Diet Coke. While I was waiting I spotted their authentic Carribean breakfast menu and I knew this was a good place! Now I need to figure out how to get there for breakfast. Anyways on to the to the goat roti. It's bone-in but there was very little bone in mine. My diabetes was thankful that there was no potato filler in it. But the taste. Yummy. The flavour built for the first few bites, to a crescendo of greatness. I should also mention that the roti shell was a dhalpuri roti. I'm not used to Jamaican places offering a superior roti shell. Overall this is an 8/10. Cost was $24. I will repeat.

Real friendly staff and community, I went on Jan 2 and everyone was greeting each other wishing everyone a good happy new year and the server had manners (not always the case at Jamaican restaurants) Great ambiance with lots of natural light coming in. I'd highly recommend.

The space is super clean and welcoming with a solid variety of menu options. I went for a half dozen beef patties, served piping hot and incredibly fresh. The flaky crust and flavorful, saucy beef filling deliver that authentic Jamaican punch. Definitely not skimpy or dry. If you're in the GTA area, grab some. Awesome value for a satisfying bite that doesn't disappoint.

So I asked in the voicemail if they still sold "mini patties" because I had a work Christmas party coming up and wanted to get some. Never heard back. I even went as far as getting these "Randy's" patties from a big box supermarket that actually the real Randy's had to put out a disclaimer about on their insta. No, Randy's does NOT SELL frozen patties at Loblaws or No Frills. But who does sell them is Randy's Roti and Doubles. Completely different restaurant. So I hope for whoever is reading this, that clears that up. I'll leave you try those yourself if you want. Uuughh, ya. Anyway, I digress. Time pressed on and I had to decide if I was still bringing these patties for the potluck. Sent my hubby for a box to eat for us, a frozen dozen for a co-worker, and what do you know...they still sold cocktail size patties but only pre-ordered. Did that, and let people at work know I was bringing "Randy's (IYKYK) Jamaican beef patties" for the potluck. Ya, that's literally how I signed it on the potluck list. I know, extra. Anyway, they were so good!! Can I tell you the box my husband brought home that day...I'm ashamed to say I ate 3 ...not in a row, lol! But seriously, I had not had breakfast or lunch so two sufficed for a waaaay late lunch and I had one later. I also had not had one since the pandemic. They were so freakin' good! Better than the last day before shuttering their doors during the pandemic when my hubby waited for at least an hour and more. I don't remember them tasting so good then and I was underwhelmed, but still sad and angry to see them go at that time. I remember going when I was pregnant because I had a craving. The patties are packed with flavourful meat and nice flaky crust that is so tasty. The staff are professional and got the job done on time for pick up the next day of the potluck. Let's just say I'm so elated that y'all are back. Keep doing what you do and remain the undefeated BEST patty in Toronto/the GTA. Yup! I've been to Scarborough and they are good but not Randy's. So glad you all are back and better than before, IMO!

Kingston 12 Patty Shop, located in Little Jamaica on Eglinton West, opened in October 2023, is one of the newer players. Their patties, in my opinion, are excellent! In addition to the traditional beef filling, they also offer chicken, ackee & saltfish, vegetable, beef and cheese, and more. On this visit, I bought a mixed dozen of their beef, chicken, and vegetable patties, as well as an ackee & saltfish one. They were all good, with a decent amount of filling and a nice light flaky crust that was embossed with their logo. Nice touch! If patties aren't enough for you, they also have more substantial food, such as drum chicken, curry goat, oxtail, ackee, and more. I'll have to try some of this next time.
