I ordered takeout of their house noodles and shrimp rolls. The food was yummy and was still super hot when it was delivered. The quality of the food was good though I do wish there had been slightly more veg/meat in the noodle dish, especially since it's referred to as a "meat lovers combo." The portion was great and you could even increase the size for an additional $3 to make it a "dinner portion". Overall the food was yummy tasting, just not the best thai food I've ever had or even the best I've had in GR. I would for sure order again and maybe just try something different. read more

I ordered takeout of their chicken pho. It came super quick and hot from a delivery service. The noodles were still in really good shape and they included a lot of greens. The quality of the chicken was really good. It was tender and all good white meat. They give you quite a bit too so the portions are great. The broth was less flavorful than others I have tried but that being said it wasn't bad. Just had less depth than others. I would definitely order from here again and try something else. read more

Biggest plus of this place is on site parkIng. Finding parking is hard in this area. This is quick service Thai restaurant. Order at the counter, food will be delivered to your table. Although this place doesn't look like much when driving past it on Michigan street, this is actually one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Grand Rapids. It also helps that I live within 5 minutes of the restaurant. This was a previous location of Erb's Thai which had hours only for lunch. Mai's Thai is open for lunch and dinner time and you can get take out, delivery or eat in. Whenever I get take out and order in person, I always get my food within 5-10 minutes. Prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food. My personal favorite dishes are Pad Thai with Tofu, Gang Gai curry or Curry Peanut. I got Mild+ and it was SPICY! Not much of a pad Thai flavor came through over the spice, which was disappointing. I have ordered from here over the phone and then picked up as well as through Uber Eats. I am happy to say that they have yet to mess up any of my special requests through either ordering channel. And since I don't get anything deep fried, it also holds up really well during delivery. The lunch portion is hefty and I about always have enough for a leftover snack. I typically get the drunken noodles with no veg. Weird, I know. It's got a great flavor, the heat levels are dead on and they sauce right to the edge so I don't get stuck with sticky dry noodles. Lousy! 1 piece of broccoli for my wife's vegetable Curry. Spice when she want none, and just turmeric. Mine was the Bangkok Chicken (I got 5 small pieces) ordered medium plus and got Zero spice, and it's red in color! Not to mention it's like a soup and tastes like smoked barbecue sauce. I'm so disappointed in my Mai's Thai experience. We ordered via Uber Eats on a Friday night, deciding to branch out from our typical Thai choices. I ordered medium heat for both entrees and they were both so hot we couldn't eat much. I actually love spicy food and have had so many Thai dishes ranging from medium to hot that I know what I should expect in a medium spice level. This was almost inedible. The Crab Rangoon was filled with what I can only describe as old oil. So chewy and stale. Way beyond any possiblity of being called "enjoyable". I could probably brush off the poor spice level situation if the Rangoon were edible. I'm sure this was just a bad night, or due a particular apathetic employee, but I'm not sure how I could risk returning. $30+ take out down the drain. read more

Discovered this little gem because all of my favorite Thai places are closed due to COVID-19. It's really quite good! Their "extra hot" is perfect (actually hot!) Vegetables are still crunchy and everything tastes so fresh! Green Curry needed more eggplant and basil, but Curry Pad Thai was perfect. Meat portions are smaller than some other places might be. My Tom Yum soup only had 2 pieces of chicken in it, but it was very flavorful. Crisp rolls would have been good if they were cooked longer. I thought they tasted underdone. Today I got Thai Iced Tea, Lime Leaf Curry, Masaman Curry, and Crisp Rolls. I added a note requesting that the rolls be extra browned, but that was ignored so I had to remove a star. Other than that, the tea is wonderful and refreshing and both curries were delicious (apart from not having enough meat.) This is my first time trying the Lime Leaf Curry and man! Pad Thai here is amazing. Not only does it taste good, when I ask for it to be very spicy it's actually very spicy. A lot of times when I order things spicy it's nowhere close to where I want it to be. They actually made my food too spicy. It's so appreciated. Not only that but the price is good here too. The veggies, which are green and red peppers, are plentiful and fresh. Now, I know what you're wondering: Yes, I did get Mai Thai's for dinner tonight. I added carrot and I thought it went fantastic. The heat is REAL, which I love. Medium is spicy enough that i get that hot buzz without losing my appetite. Tonight I also tried the shrimp rolls....imagine your on the beach and the sun is setting. Your toes are cozy in the sand that's still warm from the afternoon sun and you bite into a crispy, crunchy pocket. This crispy, crunchy pocket houses a giant, juicy shrimper .....yeah, you DEFINITELY need the shrimp rolls. The pair comes with a fruity (I think pineapple) dipping sauce. The good in this is the take out window, and things smelled and tasted good. The majority of what we got for $50 tonight was rice with sauce. The soup was mainly broth and cheap vegetables like onion sprouts and celery, with 2-3 pcs of what I would call 'adolescent' corn, lacking largely in substance. The three dinner meals we got were over 2/3 rice, with a huge lacking of meat and veggies. First and last time eating here. read more

Coming in for the weekend from Chicago, we weren't sure how good Thai food would be around here. We have so many great options in the Chi, but this place definitely satisfied our taste buds! Not good. Spring roll had zero flavor. Siam Chicken, I took two bites and couldn't finish. Tasted like they covered it in some sort of McCormick's or seasoning salt....
