Lots of healthy, tasty choices and amazing for Sunday brunch. My family is in London from the San…read moreFrancisco area for four weeks and have been craving a healthy meal with fresh produce. After a morning touring around London, we decided to visit St.Johns Wood where a good friend lives. We stumbled upon Fego at ~2:00pm on a Sunday and the waitress put together two tables to accommodate our 4-person family outside. Salads: my wife and I split a "Chili Chicken salad" with avocado, sweet peppers, hamoulli cheese, shaved carrots and a light dressing. The chicken was tasty with a slight kick and the cheese was rich but not overpowering. My daughter got a salmon salad with avocado that was similarly tasty and healthy. Sandwich: We got an Italian panini with prosciutto, mozzarella, lettuce, pesto, avocado on a ciabatta roll. The roll was toasted (nice) but the cheese not really melted, which would have been nicer. Still, a very tasty and healthy sandwich. Finally, our 6-year old ordered pancakes with blueberries from the kids menu and was very happy dipping into maple syrup and coloring his menu. Our family tends to make lots of special orders ("avocado on the side, dressing on the side, pesto on the side,....") as we like to share and have different tastes. Our waitress got them all correct the first time and didn't make us feel badly at all. In addition to our great food and nice service, the menu had probably 2-3 items we each wanted but didn't order so we'll definitely go back. A nice mix of breakfast foods plus salads, sandwiches, pizzas and desserts (which looked decadent). Hope others enjoy Fego as much as we did.

It's a really nice place interior wise. Too bad it was all empty. The theme is Indian food and cocktails, including breakfast options. The masala fries were my favourite. I thought they would be dry style with a masala powder, but they are lightly sauced and very tasty. The Hakka noodles were all right, but needed more noodles to get a good veg-noodle ratio. The Bhel puri was just OK, it needs a lot more sauce, more tamarind and coriander. Needs more tangy tang. Comes across as dry. All portion sizes surprisingly large. Food comes out quickly. The menu is more limited than most restaurants, but I think they have picked out a good selection. They have a drink called "Bloody Gandhi", their version of a bloody Mary, although the choice of name seems odd, don't know if it's supposed to be a pun that I wasn't getting. It's towards the end of the high street and near the train.

My parents and cousin were excited to go here since it's her favorite restaurant so we made reservations and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant had massive windows with tons of natural light coming in by the dining area, which was really nice and refreshing even with the rainy weather. They also have a nice outdoor space (probably only open in the summer?) which looked nice. I let my cousin order the brunch dishes for herself and my parents, and I ordered the lamb biryani because it sounded delicious and my cousin highly recommended it. The brunch items were pretty good, even though they're dishes I normally don't like to eat. Those fries were delicious, drenched in this addictive tangy sauce and cooked perfectly. (Not crispy though) That biryani was amazing and this may be oddly weird, but that layer of dough on top to keep it hot and juicy, fell in my biryani and got mixed in by accident, but it tasted really good too- it soaked up the thick spices on the lamb. That biryani was the best I've had in my life so, highly recommend that! Side note - use the chutneys they give you. They're flavor boosters and delicious! Cons: slow service but I've noticed it's a British thing...

They did have salads on the menu, but I didn't feel confident that they would be fresh or flavorful as there wasn't much in the way of other fresh produce on the menu. The omelette is absolutely massive, for between 4.45-5.50£, of which my partner said the highlight was the chips. I myself had the cream of tomato soup for £3.50, which was served with a roll. Unfortunately for me, I didn't realize there was a danger of the roll coming pre-margarined, or else I would have requested it on the side. As it was, I didn't end up trying the roll. The soup, I am fairly confident, was prepared directly from a Campbell's soup can, albeit masterfully and without lumps the way I never could achieve at home, which perhaps is exactly what other people might have expected to receive when they ordered it. But, alas, I wasn't prepared to pay that kind of price for having perfected the art of re-hydrating condensed soup. Anyway, I would say the portions are reasonably large, and the service not neglectful but neither attentive, and the prices just a bit more than I would prefer to pay at a greasy spoon type eatery. It was, however, very clean and nice. Two stars. But why would you go here when the rest of Pinner is at your disposal?
