My parents have been customers for years - they had all their jewelry and wedding bands custom made here - and always raved about the service and quality of work. When it came time for my own engagement ring, I strongly encouraged my now fiancé to purchase it here. Sadly, he did not listen, but I did buy my wedding bands at Maitland Jewelers. First, they inspected my engagement ring, and shared with me the unfortunate news that it was broken. They told me that they could not touch it but instructed me how to get it fixed at the original place, of which I was incredibly grateful. Nothing they had in stock looked good with my engagement ring, but they ordered in a few styles for me to try, that we mutually picked out of a book. When those came in, I didn't love them either, but we ordered a few more to build for a custom piece. They turned out beautifully and I am over the moon happy with. I cannot wait to actually wear the band! I also had earrings custom made out of diamonds from a ring that belonged to my deceased father. They also turned out beautifully and I cannot wait to wear them at my wedding. They ladies who work their, their gemologist/goldsmith - all absolute delights and experts at their craft. I brought in a few pieces for Maitland Jewlers to inspect and fix for me and they were so knowledgeable and informative! They work so hard at getting your pieces back to you quickly! Recently my mom lost her mother's bracelet and they were able to perfectly recreate it! Then when the stone fell out of my grandmothers necklace that my mom wears, they helped her pick the perfect replacement stone. I am so grateful to Sylvia and Carl at Maitland Jewelers! I wanted to get my engagement ring and wedding band cleaned as it's been almost four years since I've had them professionally cleaned. Since I drive by Maitland Jewelers all the time I decided to call and see if they could clean them even though they were not purchased there. While I was on the phone with Sylvia I remembered I had a necklace, also not purchased there, that needed repairing. The necklace, from my wedding, is incredibly special to and I was heartbroken when a few weeks ago the chain broke. However, I realized that I had a second chain from when the original jeweler messed up the inscription. But I couldn't figure out how to get the chain from one pendent to another. Enter Maitland Jewelers. Sylvia quoted me $30 for the repair, and let me know that they wouldn't be able to do the repair until after Christmas. Perfectly reasonable since it's probably a very busy time for them. Not only did they clean my rings for me at no cost, but the jeweler, Carl, was able to move my necklace chain from one pendant to the other while I was there in the store. And because it was a quick and easy fix he did the repair at no cost. My experience at Maitland Jewelers, how kind they were, and how they made me feel meant so much to me. Going to Maitland Jewelers was an all around incredible experience! I wanted to get my ring polished up before our wedding and they were so accommodating. They polished it and I couldn't believe how sparkly it was afterwards! Then they were kind enough to offer me coming back to drop it off for a couple hours to do an even deeper cleaning (which we ended up doing) and I couldn't believe my eyes. The ring looked brand new! God bless the people of the store. Took in a necklace of mine that's gold filled.. so just a cheapy but favorite and special necklace to me to get a simple clip repair. They did it free of charge and were really nice. Could've easily charged me and I would've paid but they didn't. Megan & Carl were terrific. My wife had her wedding ring enhanced with a diamond halo and rebrushed to look like it did originally as well as resized. Carl was also able to rebrush my wedding ring and add back some stamped dots that had long worn off. These rings were 39 years old and Carl made them look just like new and the day we were married 39 years ago. They were not elaborate, expensive rings, but Carl still took the time and effort to make them look outstanding and made us very happy. A large national chain had quoted a few hundred dollars to fix my ring from snagging. I went to Maitland Jewelers today for a second opinion. They were able to tighten the prongs as a courtesy. The shop keepers were very friendly. When I actually NEED to have a major repair done, I will definitely choose Maitland Jewelers. read more

I have never been so offended by a jewelry store. My son served in the United States Navy. When he graduated from The United States Naval Academy, we purchased a miniature, gold replica of his class ring. I wear it around my neck on a gold necklace. Now that my son is gone, I would rather loose just about anything I own before losing that ring. I took the necklace to Jewelers of Maitland. I wanted to replace the jump ring. Even though it appeared to be fine, I would be heartbroken if I ever lost that class ring. I went to Jewelers of Maitland planing on getting either one that was soldered or a double ring. Instead, I was told they didn't have anything they would put on my necklace. Shocked, I said, "You don't have any jump rings." I was told "Not one you would want to put on that." in a condescending tone. Not only are they so arrogant they think they know what this piece of jewelry means to me. Their attitude of being to good to sell me a jump ring only insures that I will not come back to their store in the future. It works out better for the retailer if, when you have a customer in the store, you befriend rather then insult them. You can judge people and loose out on what could have turned out to be a long term beneficial relationship. read more

Shop small! Great shop with a modest inventory of unique pieces and estate jewelry. If they don't have what you want they can order or make just about anything. The jeweler is the best in town hands down. If Carl can't fix it, it can't be done. I was able to get the shell on my grandmother's pin redone here after everyone else in town told me it wasn't possible. It was sent out to a special cutter for a couple of weeks and returned to me beautiful once again. I knew it wasn't an expensive piece but it meant a lot to me they treated the repair like it was as important to them too. Will be back! read more

I went to Maitland Jewelers to get a battery replaced in my Tag watch that I wear everyday. The signage said they were having a sale and there were about 4 other customers there when I walked in. The older lady (think she is an owner) asked how she could help. I told her I just needed a watch battery. She told me that they did not have time to replace a watch battery due to the sale. They certainly don't know how to treat customers. You don't turn away someone with a definite sale to help someone that could waste 45 minutes and not buy anything. And, if they would have changed my battery, I could have browsed the cases and found something I couldn't live without. Oh well, they'll be out of business (AGAIN) in due time. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!!!!! I had my bracelet fixed there two times and it broke again the third time. Mind you, its nothing fancy or expensive , it's a silver bracelet very thick and durable and was given to me by my late Father years ago. . I've been wearing it non stop for 7 years.. I went in today to have it repaired for the third time. I was greeted again by the same boisterous , cocky sales guy that the second he greets you, his tone is very unwelcoming . I asked if he could help me out or give me a discount because this is the third time in 6 months Im returning with the same problem. It keeps breaking where they supposedly soldered it. He told me that no mater where I take it , it will keep breaking. I found that to be the most pathetic answer. He also shouted " I don't give discounts"!!!. At that time , I said my business is done here. He replied " good, we're glad to have you not come back". I'm in shock that an independently, small owned jewelry company , who is up against much larger chains like Jareds, International Diamond Center, etc. would risk damage to his business and name in this small community of Maitland because of $20.00. Thats how much I paid each time to repair my bracelet. I was still willing and offered to pay for the repair a third time, if he could just give me a little slack since his jewelers work failed twice. There was no reasoning with this guy and he certainly had no concern for customer contentment or guaranteeing the work of any repairs. Find another place to shop or repair your jewelry.. This place hasn't a clue on how to treat customers. read more
