Newest Dairy Market spot finally opened! I've been very excited for Maizal and it was so tasty. It's not your typical assembly line style restaurant. Everything was so fresh and some of the most unique, amazing flavors. I went on their grand opening and looking forward to seeing their full menu unveiled

Outstanding street tacos. The best I've had in C'ville (displaced Torchy's). We had tacos and the Chef's burrito. Really good flavor

I wanted to like it but it was bland. It also didn't help that I had to wait a bit longer than the rest of my family for my order.

I've had the pork black beans plantain egg and cheese arepa a few times and it's awesome. I got it recently in bowl form with an arepa on the side and it was a ton of food for the value. My boyfriend had a sliced steak arepa maybe with avocado and it was also very good. The empanadas are also amazing!! Food is knockout and the arepas are stuffed full for what you pay. So good. Definitely would order again!

I didn't know what to expect but we decided to try their Pabellon beef bowl and the beef and pork empanadas. Everything came out quick and the empanadas seemed to have been made to order and were hot when brought out to us. The empanadas were crispy, hot, and full of meat filling. The Pabellon bowl came with an arepa on the side. It was our first times having arepa and we enjoyed the saltiness flavor of it. The denseness of the arepa was a new experience for the both of us, it's something that you just have to try for yourself! The bowl goes well with the light, creamy sauce that is brought out with it. The staff are kind and helpful, glad to have been able to support a local business in Charlottesville!

If you are looking for a lively atmosphere for a date night or a night out with friends, Mas tapas is for you! The staff here is incredible; helpful with their selections and operates like a family. When introducing others to Charlottesville, this is my go to. I cannot even begin to unpack the vibrancy of the food. Anything with aioli is a hit! It's a reminder of the strength of the Charlottesville food scene. It glows with that warm, golden-hour energy -- the hum of conversation, the clink of glasses, the scent of garlic and olive oil drifting through the air. Every dish feels like a small act of intention. The ultimate real pleasure is the rhythm of the place: tapas arriving slowly enough to savor, fast enough to keep you leaning in for more; an atmosphere that manages to feel both lively and deeply relaxed. It's the true peak: a simplicity and richness; a love note in the shape of a restaurant. Must try: - Gambas à la Parilla - Datil Con Tocino -queso con marmelada -ensalada Lechuga -papas bravas

I recently had the blood sausage and it was $18 for a single link which is way more in the Argentinian place outside of the downtown mall. The sausage was not flavorful, and it was very oily. I also got the duck confit and it also was not very flavorful. There was minimal seasoning and it was very oily. We ordered the mussels and some of them were gritty, and there wasn't much flavor from the Sofrito.

It's a small spot on the side of High Street that's probably easily missed. Gratefully had parking spots right outside and when we walked it, we were immediately greeted. We took a few minutes to scan the large menu on the board and the more comprehensive one on the counter. We ordered the quesadillas, fajitas, and pixie and were cautioned that that would be an enormous portion (very much appreciated the honesty on that one and was true). We ordered it anyway since that's what we were craving! It's a small spot with 3 booths and a few smaller table areas. SERVICE Quick service spot where you order at the counter, find seating, and 10 minutes or so later your food is made in the kitchen and can be picked up at the pick-up counter a few steps away. We picked up our quesadillas and fajitas from the counter, and our pozole with pork was brought over to us with tortillas, cilantro, and onions. FOOD Absolutely delicious and so worth the value! The quesadillas were chunky with chicken and pozole was hearty and well spiced. Loved every bite of the pork, cilantro, and hominy!!! Can't find this in a lot of spots and so glad they do it here. The beef fajitas were also well done with a solid portion of sautéed vegetables and 3-4 tortillas! OVERALL Absolutely agree that this spot is underrated and a gem....quick, no frills unassuming spot with friendly staff that never disappoints. Would 11/10 recommend if you want Mexican food. We've already got this spot pinned for Mexican in C'ville favorites and are looking forward to going for our third time to try out more options.

It was flavorful but it was hard and the pork seemed old and dry. Maybe it was recycled or maybe they microwaved it to death. But I could not finish it. It was authentic but it was not what you would want to serve. I debated taking it back to the counter. I ordered two tacos. They are usually great. Today, nope. The Cabrito was okay today and the carnitas a little fatty. But the most disappointing thing is that they were not hot. Maybe they died in the window, but dead they were when they hit my table. The only thing saving the experience was the tostada...and the homemade tortillas on the tacos. All fresh. Even the signature sauce stand was different. The sauces today seemed very runny compared to how they usually present. I did get a fountain Pepsi and it was perfect. Overall, love the new spot and the decor. I will go back because i live their food. Assuming today was just an off day.

At the end of our meal we were given a bill that was about 30% higher than listed on their menu and was told that the updated, correct pricing was located by the checkout register. Ridiculous! They need to get new menus or inform patrons when they are presented with the menus that ALL the prices are different. I assume the blue marker was rubbed off many of the items. As for the food, I liked the menudo, but the chicken was unfortunately dry. Won't be back and wouldn't recommend.

Authentic, Delicious Food…read more Honestly, I've been going to this location for the past six or seven years and the restaurant has only continued to improve. First off, they used to be in the back of the Latino store that is now conveniently connected to the restaurant. After the owners acquired what used to be the horrific Chinese restaurant, they completely remodeled the place into a colorful, vibrant location. Equally as vibrant as the decor is the food that is served at this restaurant. Everything tastes wonderful, and the flavors are well blended. Most of the clientele is still composed of Hispanic people, which to me, is a sign that this place serves authentic cuisine. I believe this location is technically Salvadorian. If you are looking for a sit down, authentic Hispanic restaurant, then this might be your place. It's certainly the most colorful and most inviting in my opinion. My only gripe with this location is some of the inconsistencies. For one, they need to update their menu. Items on the menu are no longer the prices that they used to be due to inflation. I believe the actual prices are up by the counter, so if you plan on eating here, I recommend taking a picture of THAT menu before sitting. Another inconsistency is that they sometimes have chips and salsa and other times do not. When they have their chips and salsa, it's excellent, and they make an incredible salsa through and through. Please keep this in mind before dining here!
