A good spot to get food. It's fast and casual dining which was perfect for what we were looking for. A quick dinner after a long day of driving. The chicken was tender and it went so well with the different sauces they had for us. I loved the cilantro sauce. That was my favorite one. I loved the ribs. The ribs had a very sweet and delicious sauce. The meat was so tender and fell of the bone. The sides were good too! We got the yucca fries, rice and elotes. We got the horchata which alcohol and without alcohol. My daughter chugged the horchata and the horchata with alcohol came with churros. The churros was a nice way to end our meal.

The food here is pretty solid! We ordered the chicken along with the esquite with mayo, poblano rice, Mac and cheese, and salad with the jalapeño cilantro, aji, and chipotle crema sauces for takeout. The chicken was super juicy, and the jalapeño cilantro sauce went really well with it. The other sauces were good as well, but I would probably opt to try other sauces instead. The Mac and cheese was solid, and I really liked the esquite. However, the rice was a little disappointing, and I wish it had more flavor. We also ordered three tacos. I thought they were okay, but I would probably just stick to getting the chicken and sides next time. I would definitely come back and try some of the different sides and sauces!

I think I may prefer this location of Al Carbon in Charlottesville! Got a handful of small tables for two person seating. They also have outdoor seating in this location. Ordered para papa with esquites and fried plantains for sides w/ Aji sauce. Chicken, as always, was extremely good: soft, tender, juicy, and the meat easily came off the bone. The chicken skin was neither too rubbery nor too crispy. Just right. First time trying esquites, and it wasn't too bad. Good blend of sweet and salty with this premium side. Fried plantains in this location seemed much more "full"? Not as burnt looking. The plantain sauce (which I highly recommend), that comes as extra cost, came in a bigger container too: very good news. I don't know of any other Peruvian styled chicken restaurant in Charlottesville, so this place is definitely worth hitting up. TIP for first timers: I recommend fried plantains, green rice, or Mac & cheese for your sides. These are my top three, I usually get one of these three every time I pay a visit. The Fried Yucca here is also great, eat it before it gets cold!

Food is amazing! Flavorful and delicious. Chicken , roast veggies, charro beans, yellow rice, and nopalitos con chorizo. All good stuff.

I usually get a lot of recommendations from coworkers, friends, and family to try new places but no one had mentioned this place to me. I think a lot of that has to do with the location. It is tucked away in the corner of an extremely busy shopping center that includes the Alamo. There are lots of food options near them but somehow they have managed to stand out. The service here is top notch and should come as no surprise since it is family run. It has feeling of getting a home cooked meal from Venezuela. It's as advertised. The food is exceptional and really matches the prices reflected on the menu. The picanha was tender and well seasoned. I will be coming back and trying more of this menu. Could not recommend more

I didn't know what to expect but we decided to try their Pabellon beef bowl and the beef and pork empanadas. The Pabellon bowl came with an arepa on the side. It was our first times having arepa and we enjoyed the saltiness flavor of it. The denseness of the arepa was a new experience for the both of us, it's something that you just have to try for yourself! The bowl goes well with the light, creamy sauce that is brought out with it. Their menu is great, such a nice assortment of soooo many things I absolutely LOVE, but our server told me how amazing the taco assortment and the smash burger was that we got one of each, with me getting the smash burger. Our food came out rather quickly and was amazing, fresh, tasty, and PERFECTLY PREPARED!!! My smash burger was excellent! Exactly what a smash burger should be. I asked for jalapeños to be added to it and they added fresh sliced jalapeños which nicely enhanced the flavor. I typically don't eat the fries that come as a side dish, but these were so darn amazing that I ate them all! It's a one-block kind of town, not the place you'd think to go for Central American cuisine. The building is on the older side, but they've done a nice job with it and it has some charm. The menu includes pupusas and various other Latin American cuisine, notably possessing a vegetarian section. Notably, they have a time set aside on Sunday afternoon (which is often when I'm eating at restaurants) where they are apparently in pupusa prep mode and say that these delicacies may not be available. However, I dropped in just after 5 and they told me they were good to go. The classic options they offer were well rendered here. A queso loroco, which the menu explains in detail, offered large flower buds and a strong flavor contrast. The accompanying sides of pickled cabbage and sauce made for a typically dynamic flavor experience. And the great thing about ordering pupusas is that you can really get the size of meal you want. Three makes a good meal, but you could just get a snack, or add an appetizer. But despite the lack of care put into the appearance of the restaurant, the food is quality and service is quick. 5-10 minutes for your meal to come out and I'm sure it's made pretty fresh. Fries are nothing special, might even be a frozen brand but who knows. Plantains are done so well here! They are cut into small slices so that there is more caramelization on each piece, which enhances the flavor so much. And of course, the chicken. Super juicy and flavorful. Much better than a cheap rotisserie chicken. You will tear through this thing in no time because of how good it is.
