Very comfortable , nothing fancy, atmosphere. I asked for a head shave ( no straight edge though) beard, eyebrow and mustache trim. Carl did an incredible job-truly the absolute best beard trim ever. As my beard lengthens, it gets curly on one side but not the other. Carl has been on the job at Phil's since 1965!!! I told Carl I was 7 years old in 1965 and Patsy Menilllo was cutting my hair back then. Carl chuckled and shook his head. Carl, total pro, wrestled the uneven, mismatched mess into something that I have always had a difficult time receiving: A beautifully structured beard. I will be back in a few weeks for another trim. She said she couldn't remember the name of the barber they got, but he was great, had a big beard and dark, thicker framed glasses. She also mentioned that it gets pretty busy on Saturdays and you may have to wait a bit. When we came in on Saturday, there were two barbers cutting 2 clients, no one was waiting to be next, except us. We took a quick seat and then from the back emerges the barber my friend described, awesome! (I also noticed there was a 4th barber in the back room, just hanging out, playing a guitar and waiting for a customer)...this is a cool and chill place. Comes to find out this mysterious bearded man is named Ray. He was absolutely fantastic with our son. My husband and I honestly could not believe how calm our son was as Ray was cutting his hair, he barely moved! It was really a great experience and so happy we chose here to get his hair cut. We will totally be back. side note: we must have walked in at the perfect time, as we left there was 3-4 men waiting for haircuts..

Personality was not even good either as she had a condescending bad attitude for a business owner. I will never make the mistake of coming back to this dump ever again! Good barbers always take about 15 or 20 minutes to cut my hair. This one thought she was under the gun and did it in five minutes or less. It's 12:10 PM and she says she has to go out at 1 o'clock for an errand... I guess she can't tell time either because she had plenty of time to do my hair the right way instead she totally hacked it up! The younger man, like his particular clientele, has no class, manners, or business acumen. He cuts hair while talking on his cell phone, arrives late at the barber shop while his clients wait, and leave them in tr chair to chat with his friends who stop by. He relies on electric clippers to do a job that was once done by skill and with a steady hand. Perhaps the children lining up for their weekly haircuts don't mind the customer service, but the strong base does. A barber shop is a traditionally sacred place, a place of respect where there is a code of conduct and trust that should not be violated. This barber shop is slowly becoming more like the world at-large, and that is bad news for those of us over the age of 25. Go before noon and it's great. After noon and be prepared to deal with bro's and assholes getting their tri-weekly "haircut."
