I visited an OB last week for consultation to check the redness and lump-like on both breast. Upon checking, she said that it could be an so she prescribed an antibiotic for 1-week. When I asked her the cause or reason of this she answered "Hindi ko alam" I mean she doesn't have any idea or she couldn't give any reason what might be the cause, maybe the food, environment, etc. She will not give you any knowledge or advice if u don't ask for it. I'm very disappointed and will never go back to her because of that experience. Very unpro to think she's a doctor. read more

My toddler wasn't feeling well so I tried to take him to a clinic only to be told they did not serve pediatric patients. Well.. my hotel was close by so I gave this place a shot. It is a large medical facility. There were a bunch of people streaming in and out. I walked right up to information and the lady there assisted me in finding a pediatrician for walk ins. Less than 30 mins later I was having a consult with the doctor. We paid the doctor directly after the visit and left with a prescription and peace of mind. If only it were that easy back home. The facility itself needs an overhaul. Very dated interior. I shudder to think about their surgical facilities and such. read more

Dr. Alma Fibes A. Mallabo is a horrible doctor at this hospital. She is arrogant, condescending, and very unprofessional. She doesn't listen to the patient. When you try to talk to her she is immediately confrontational and talks down to you like you are stupid. She is the bottom of the barrel. This is the doctor the front desk sends you to when all the good doctors are all ready booked. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU AVOID THIS HOSPITAL. read more

I personally do not like hospitals, but if I had to choose one it would definitely be Makati Medical Center. My family has been going to this hospital for as long as I can remember (I was born here, haha). It's an institution in the medical world with some of the country's best doctors practicing here. I don't remember the last time I was confined here (knock on wood!) but my lola was 2 years ago and I can attest that they have top grade quality of service! The nurses were all so nice and very professional, coming in at the right times and making sure my lola was okay. The doctors also did not leave her side whenever she needed them, I was super impressed! My personal experience of Makati Med with my relatives have all been good and I have nothing to complain about their services. Super glad I was welcomed into this world at the right hospital (good job, Mom)! read more

For as long as I can remember, my family and I have gone to Makati Med for anything from doctor's appointments to medical emergencies. The Makati Med ambulance numbers are listed as emergency contacts in our household, and should any of us be in immediate need of medical assistance, it's to Makati Med we go. Although not as fancy-schmancy as St. Lukes, Makati Med is still, in my opinion, one of the best hospitals in the Manila. They provide quality doctors and an array of various medical procedures, and as far I've seen, the nurses manning the nursing stations are all very nice and polite and really do try their best to help you with whatever you need. They've renovated some portions of the hospital so it all looks nicer and sleeker, and there are a variety of restaurants and convenience stores sprinkled around the buildings in case you get hungry. There's even a David's Salon somewhere in there! In case you need to get a haircut too, I suppose? If you have the unfortunate luck of being sick and having to be confined for the night, the rooms Makati Med offers are very nice. Even if you get the smallest room, there's a TV and a bench for visitors to sit and entertain themselves while they visit you, and - this may be my personal opinion - but the food is GREAT. I don't know what it is about it, but I really love hospital food. Anyway, for great service comes a pretty hefty medical bill - as those of you without medical insurance know - so once you step in make sure you have your cash or your medical card at the ready! read more

I have been to several hospitals and nothing beats the service of Makati Medical Center. Yes, it's a bit old (for the older wings at least) and some of the rooms are not yet renovated, but the compassion of their doctors and nurses is unbeatable. I've been confined there several times and I have always felt comfortable and at-home when staying at Makati Med. I like how the nurses really took care of me after my surgery and made sure I was feeling better. Their facilities are also getting updated. They have been renovating the hospital for quite a while now, so the whole look and feel of everything is becoming more refreshing. One complaint I have about Makati Med, though, is their parking, which doesnt seem to be enough. This may be a good sign, assuming that most cars belong to patients who visit the hospital, but at the same time, it's also a turn-off especially for those like me who don't have the luxury of a driver. But this doesn't stop me from going to this hospital because all the doctors who I love are all there. I just go really early or park in a nearby parking area and just walk a bit. read more

My brother had a fever for two days straight the day before we were bound to Baguio. My mom didn't want to take risks so she told me to take my brother to a nearby hospital in Makati. I took my brother to the emergency area and had him checked. There was a short line and it was only a few minutes before it was my brother's turn. A nurse checked het temperature and we were led to the Pedia area. They took a sample of my brother's blood and we had to wait for a an hour or two for the results (Pretty quick if you ask me). They had chairs so my brother and I just sat down. Everyone was so nice and assistive. I could also see that everything was clean and sanitary. The lights were bright enough to not make the hospital look like a dim lighted haunted place. While waiting, we looked for foor and discovered Burger King inside the hospital. My brother loved BK so we had to order a sandwich for him. After eating, we went to the pedia again ang got his results. He only got a viral infection and was recommended to take some prescribed medicine. We bought the medicine he needed from a drugstore that was also inside the hospital. I found my experience here very satisfying. It was convenient and quick. read more

This hospital needs to improve their discharge process. Right now it's horrible. They should have some kind of computer program that can facilitate this process. Medical care is good but you would think the billing system would be a little more advanced. You get charged another day for a room just because you're waiting for them to pepper the bill and paperwork!!! That's awful!!! If you can make it to St. Luke's, do so, they're a lot more organized than Makati med. read more

The Makati Medical Center, AKA Makati Med, was once considered the country's premiere medical facility. It was where the rich and famous would go for any and all reasons, from simple check ups to major operations. About two decades ago, however, its prime position was overtaken by the likes of St. Lukes and the Asian Hospital. There were even reports that the hospital at the corner of Ayala Avenue and Buendia was deep in the red. Then, business magnate Manny V. Pangilinan was rumored to have agreed to take over the management of the hospital. In order to recover lost ground, a new wing was added and facilities upgraded. Today, Makati Med is back as one of the top hospitals in the country. It's former grand entrance has since been covered by a new building, and for some reason a few fastfood joints were allowed to operate inside the hospital premises. Practical, perhaps, but you won't see the other topnotch hospitals take this route. The lobby almost feels like a mall. Whether this is a good thing or not remains to be seen. But for now, the Makati Med that was known for excellent, if expensive, medical treatment is back. read more

Makati Medical Center has been a hospital I've come to trust. The facilities are great and clean and the staff are diligent, helpful and warm. I also like the fact that there are different types of restaurants, cafes, fast food chains and convenience stores within the building so you don't have to stray far away if you want to stay close to your loved ones who are hospitalized. A big thing for me as well is the vibe of a hospital. Some hospitals can feel claustrophobic, hectic or scary but I feel none of those in Makati Medical Center. Recently, my grandfather had an accident (He fell from a ladder while gardening because he wanted to remove the leaves on the roof.) and he was confined for 3 whole days there. I'm very thankful that his nurses and doctors took good care of him. The hospital fees can be pricey but you will be paying for quality equipment, services and doctors so it's very much worth it. read more

Had to go to a hospital as my chest pain kept on coming back. Once reached MakatiMed I felt beeing in good hands. Dr. de la Rosario was very kind and easy to communicate with. He explaned me what could be wrong and in order to find out if it was my heart he suggested a coronary angiogram. After the procedure he told me everything's fine. So it wasn't my heart. Ufff. Makati Med is the hospital where I gave birth, so I have a lot of affection for it. I have always been treated very well there. The staff is competent and the physicians are highly qualified. The best doctors in Manila actually have a clinic at Makati Med. Although it is not as modern and shining new as St. Luke's (another top hospital set in Fort Bonifacio), Makati Med has everything one can need. It has a food court on the inside (with Burger King and Pizza Hut, all junk food, what sounded quite weird for me as a foreigner, I must confess), a pharmacy and other facilities. Something I appreciate is the business center located at the Tower 1 on the 1st floor. If you have an emergency and need a computer, just go there. They also make photocopies. read more

My grandmother, who used to be the head nurse of Makati Medical Center, once told me that Makati Med. used to be the hospital for famous celebrities and locally-known business magnates. She would often tell me stories how beauty queens, who are supposed to be the embodiment of grace and good moral character, would be rushed to the hospital late at night after a drunken stupor. A year ago, I remember accompanying my brother to Makati Med. for an update on his jaw line reconstruction surgery. The moment I entered the hospital for the very first time, I immediately noticed how the whole place looks just like a mall. They have Burger King, Dairy Queen, Mini Stop, and even a small, lovely gift shop. The rooms of confined patients are also big and comfortable enough to accommodate relatives and visitors. Each room has its own personal bathroom and television. The only negative thing about this place is their system. It's not as fast as other hospitals out there. When my brother was confined there for his actual jaw line reconstruction surgery, I noticed that the nurses were conducting several tests that I believed were not really necessary to the whole operation (but I could be wrong; I am not a legit doctor yet). Fun Fact: Makati Medical Center is like the home of the cutest doctors and nurses. mmc sure is one of the leading hospital in the country. customer service wise, try contacting them via phone and they will put you on hold for so long that you will just give up. like seriously whoever manages the phone system should check with people that they put on hold if no one is picking up on the other line. small details that can be over looked. read more
