I have been taking classes there for about 6 months. It's a wonderful, happy, comfortable place to learn how to make furniture. They offer classes in the evenings and weekends and also have open studio sessions all week long. After taking the fundamentals class you can make pretty much anything you choose. They also have project specific classes. I'm taking a class where we make a 4 shelf bookcase (I won't use it for books, lol) It's beautiful! Well, will be. In our first class we learned to draw furniture and in the second we will choose the size and make our cut list. In classes 3-10 we will make the case. I'm so excited. If you have an interest in furniture making (or decorative boxes or anything made of wood) this is the place to be.

I had such a horrible experience here…read more Oddly enough I was an audience member, so you'd think I'd have a good time. Oddly enough I was one of only maybe 5 or 6 people in the theater, and a paying spectator, so you'd think I'd be valued on some level. Oddly enough, I was all dolled up, in a cute skirt, cute hair, faux fur coat, so you'd think someone would at least take my show of respect as a signal I should be treated with the slightest kindness. Oddly enough, I clapped, I smiled, I heckled no one, Heck I even tried to participate when the MC lady tried to get "the crowd" hyped up. So you'd think someone would have thought, "geez, she paid, she's a kind spectator, she got all dressed up like it is the 1950s and I was having a night at the theater. You may think that, but you'd be wrong. During the audience participation, I said something that was, granted, kind of dumb. But it wasn't even funny dumb. It was more like, "did you hear the question, lady?" Truth be told, I did but I guess I was absent minded and gave a dumb answer. Truthfully, it made no real difference that I made an airhead comment. I'm not even a comedian but I can think of a way to make a joke about my airhead comment -- without making me feel like a fool. But that's what the MC did, and later one of the performers referenced the airhead-y comment, effectively making me a human call-back joke. I felt mortified, even though there were only 5-6 spectators in the room. I love comedy. I follow comedians. I read about their lives. I read about comedic theory. I am fascinated to learn that Keenan Ivory Wayans says there's a "math of the joke." I am equally interested in learning more about how before she was in Friends, Lisa Kudrow studied sit-com, like it was a full time job. My point is that, while I am not a performer, I do know a little about comedy. The one thing I know for sure is that in Improv, the overriding philosophy is "yes, and..." That means that, when someone says something, the improv artist must never negate anything someone else says. Instead the second actor adds to what the first person said. Knowing that "yes and" is central to Improv, I am disappointed that at this particular improv performance, both the MC (instructor) and performer literally mocked me, negating everything that I brought to their stage: a paid ticket, a good attitude, respectful attire and a willingness to participate. What I received in return was the overriding internal feeling that "I must never return here again."

My daughter had expressed an interest in acting for some time, but kept changing her mind every time we got to the point of going to check it out. Then early this year, the urge was so strong that she agreed to let me make an appointment for her to go and see what was what. We got to the place early on a Saturday and the butterflies were starting to get the better of her, but we were able to successfully overcome them with a gentle nudge, and a guaranty that if she was not thrilled that I would be back to pick her up in an instant. Well let me tell you. That introductory class ignited a flame in her, and a confidence in herself that I had not seen before. I have never seen her strive and work as hard at anything like this ever before. Ralph, the Artistic Director; Megan, and Dan and the rest of the people at the school are the nicest, warmest and most wonderful people I have ever met. They make the kids feel safe and accepted and nurture them as if they were their own. They truly make the kids and us parents feel like family. You can easily tell by just viewing the profiles of a couple of them. They are all so the same but slightly different phrasing. The other one stars sound exactly like someone who made mistake of hiring Christine Matus. Since Christine Matus will lie in a certification about her clients as you can see from images attached, she would have no issue lying about me not being a client so I included her case notes and other documents with my name. She on the last day she spoke to my family before abandoning us when she couldn't get anymore money out of us. She was hired to represent my grandmother's estate in a probate account abounding matter with $70,000 in dispute and she billed $47,000 dollars before a month after the first court hearing. She did nothing but actively sabotaged her own case for the benefit of litigation adversaries, and extorted control of estate funds release to her trust. You dont have to take my word for it you take hers. Youtube the date of the case file notes June 11 and June 6 and hear the conversation yourself. She is currently being sued for malpractice for falling for a scam and sending $140,000+ dollars of client funds to wrong bank accounting. Tell you all you need to know that she's fighting that client to not pay them back. Her attorney in that case showed up after she terminated representation trying to settle liability before she even disclosed she had motioned court to be allowed to quit. She defaulted on that case only to suddenly have funds to answer that suit same day she extorted her fees. She refused to provide any documents even ones she received while waiting to be discharged only finally providing case documents once deadline had passed to oppose her withdrawl. If that wasn't enough, when she had to be subpoened to be forced to provide much anything we didn't give her ourselves or already had she got another lawyer a sent my own emails and documents back to us. 6700 pages ........ with less than 500 words in her case notes.

The staff advisors from housing to the bursars office come off as random, unqualified individuals in these positions. A few of their professors are also quite questionable, leaving one to wonder how they screen their teaching staff. From the lack of communication to their very basic, outdated website I now have learned that GCU isn't nearly as put together as some of the local Community Colleges. Certainly not a place I'd ever consider again.
