The Deets: When I went to visit my parents on the recent Easter holiday, I saw the glass eggs I had given them in the past and it reminded me of my visits to Hot Sand on Cookman Ave in Asbury Park where they were purchased. I cannot believe I didn't come on Yelp and show some love but fixing that now. Hot Sand is a shop that is more like a showcase or gallery for some of the amazing glass blown/sculpted items they create and sell. Best thing I can recommend is to look at the pics here on Yelp as well as their own website to get a feel for what they offer. Speaking of offerings, Hot Sand also has interactive opportunities to help create your own glass blown/sculpted items with their artists in the workshop area in the back (check out their website for details/FAQ). Their website states the "immersive, exciting hot glass experiences are one-of-a-kind" and I agreed with what I saw on my visits there. Beautiful glass art made and sold as well as interactive opportunities with the staff does make Hot Sand a unique experience that I recommend visiting when in Asbury Park.

My party agreed to the 6 pm class instead, however, it was not mentioned prior that this was actually a kids class that was scheduled. The instructor had the 3 of us adults and the few children doing different projects and so there was little to no direction throughout the class as well as much distraction. What was supposed to be a fun night out for my mom, sister-in-law, and me turned out to be a huge headache. We were all so relieved when we were finally rushed out the minute we finished our paintings.

We ordered a party for twenty people and they were able to accommodate our every request-extra room, extra time, ordering food, etc. We started the party right on time and finished right on time, something I haven't seen happen at any party I've had in a while. I was amazed. The teacher, a 16 year old girl, was also very professional. She helped my friends and made sure that every person, no matter their artistic level. I was very impressed and very pleased with how the paintings turned out. I would highly recommend this business for classes and parties.

When a response from me was not sent to them confirming I received the email, they had my phone number, why did I not receive a call. So not knowing, I showed to a closed Uncorked, I called the business number listed only to hear that I was sent an email cancelling the class due to the lack of sign ups. Ok, First, cancelling the day prior to a scheduled event does not give the customer an appropriate amount of time to plan something else in lieu of the original celebration plan. Again considering they had my phone number why didn't I receive a text or phone call to confirm. This morning, I found the email and responded and asked for a REFUND of which I still have not received! I expressed I had no interest in scheduling another event, and not I have not received a refund. You would think considering that it was cancelled by them I would have received it already! I WILL NEVER SCHEDULE ANYTHING WITH UNCORKED AGAIN! GIVE ME MY REFUND!

The owner said they could not do that one. We had a good sized group and had prepaid months in advance. Our group was very disappointed as most were from out of town and loved Ocean Grove OCGMA Tent community. The manager would not even honor a Groupon price. We had 20. Plus people attending. The instructor was very unmotivated. No personality. It was a job she gets paid to do nothing more nothing less. Go somewhere else or don't pay in full, make them put it in writing what they said they would do. Otherwise you will probably waste your money and be frustrated like we were.

Michelle was our host and she was very nice and willing to help. When you walk in you pick your seats and start collecting your supplies (colored sea glass for the tree). The one thing that could use improvement is explain everything upfront since everyone works at a different pace. Also, explain how the decorations are affixed. I glued down my lights but didn't realize there were beads that can be strung on them. That's why explaining upfront would help any confusion. Overall, it was a great time and a BYOB event.
