Had a great first experience going to a pottery class/event at Blue Skies. This was probably the first time in almost 20 years I worked with clay again since my highschool art days. The owners and staff were so friendly and helpful to all the yelpers and offered many do's and don'ts to come up with a successful clay piece. Even after the event, I was able to connect with them on social media to discuss the finishing process as I wanted go continue to work on my piece and handpaint the details! Blue Skies has a beautiful studio space and a lot of room for many people to work in! Would definitely plan some date nights or consider coordinating events here!

My boyfriend and I participated in the one time 90 minute wheel class. The staff were so nice and encouraging. They do such a good job of fostering a healthy, creative environment. The pottery itself came out great and we purchased two of our pieces. I loved this experience and would definitely come back.

Very disappointing experience. My daughter and her friend started hand-painted ceramic projects…read morehere in September while both were dealing with school and work schedules. They returned in October, November, and December as their schedules allowed to continue working on the projects. During those visits, they explained multiple times that there may be gaps before they could finish and pick up the pieces. They were under the impression this was understood and that holding the items would not be an issue. Now that their schedules finally allowed them to go back, I drove my daughter over to pick up the pieces, only for her to be told they no longer had them and that they had been thrown out. She was then told they only hold items for 40 days. That was not clearly communicated to her, especially considering they had specifically discussed their school and work schedule situation during prior visits. What made it worse was the response. When my daughter asked why no one called before throwing away paid customer projects, she was told they "do not call you guys." When she said she had spent a lot of money, the employee responded that it was "$40" in a dismissive way, as if that amount did not matter. To my daughter, that money mattered. More importantly, the project mattered. These were hand-painted ceramic pieces made by two friends during a busy and important time in their lives. You cannot recreate that exact item or that exact memory. It was not just pottery -- it was something personal. My daughter left very upset and almost in tears. I understand businesses need policies, but a strict 40-day hold policy should be made very clear, especially when customers explain ahead of time that school and work may delay pickup. A simple phone call, text, or email before discarding paid projects would have avoided this entire situation. I also do not understand how a studio that serves students and families can expect someone attending any type of school, including college away from home, to always be able to return within 40 days. If that is the policy, it needs to be clearly stated upfront and repeated before items are discarded. Very disappointed in how this was handled.

I visited the studio frequently, as the employees took notice of my frequent visits and stated they would get the gnome ring tray again and to keep checking. When it finally came in, I purchased it because my husband could not find a piece that he wanted to paint that day. As we drew closer to Halloween, he finally found something to paint. The friendly employees gave us a big wheel bowl with examples of how to achieve different looks. To ensure a great, vibrant color, she instructed us to apply three coats of paint for maximum coverage. At each table, we were provided with water and a bucket of brushes. They also gave us a tray to pick out our colors. The tray consisted of three small, three medium, and one large main color for you to choose your colors. They will gladly provide more paint if needed. I knew I wanted a speckled hat for my gnome, but was disappointed they did not offer me a toothbrush to achieve the splatter look I was hoping for. My only real issue was the brushes. When painting, brushes are everything. The bristles easily came off and stuck to my ceramic piece. I had to carefully inspect my gnome and remove the fallen bristles to make sure they wouldn't be baked into the final product. Once we finished, we gave our pieces to the employees, who said it would take one to two weeks for them to be glazed. The studio also charges a $12 per person studio fee.

I went with my 4 year old niece. Cara (the owner) was very nice and patient. She helped us pick out our pottery and colors. She helped set up my niece with her palette and paintbrushes. We had fun painting and drying, then adding glitter. They spray your work with gloss when you are done and you get to take it home the same day if you don't require it to be food safe - otherwise, they keep it for a week or two and apply glaze finish on it. Overall, we had a great experience because the ladies were nice and attentive; the process was seamless and smooth; and it wasn't too expensive. They have a variety of ceramic sculptures (including Sesame Street & Disney characters for the kids), cups, plates, and canvas. PS. They let my niece play with paint and finger paint on the paper-covered table while we waited for our pottery to be ready. They were so nice!

Internal stakeholder management issues notwithstanding (non-vendor side), the experience was wonderful from top to bottom! Having never been here, nor painted pottery since I was in 7th grade, I called Artsy to find out what to expect. Stephanie who picked up the phone didn't have the answer to one of my questions (it was her first day!), but found out and called me back right away. We walked in on a weekend morning. Sylvia, another lovely employee, greeted us and explained the process. The interior is clean, zen, cheerful, colorful, neat and well-organized. My child chose a ceramic and colors, Sylvia laid out the paints, and the père-fils duo got down to business while I settled in a nearby cafe to get some work done. (There is actually a cafe in the back of the store, but it was closed at the time as I'm told they're soon moving to a larger space up Main St.) Although FamCo's senior team member reported that the junior associate gave up halfway and significant intervention was required to help execute his vision and meet the project goal, the assignment was completed with pride, and turned out to be a perfect rainy day activity. Prices vary but most projects are under $35 at the time of writing, more for larger pieces, and includes everything (ceramic, painting, kiln firing). I wish there were some more choices but my child was happy with what he selected. The finished object would be ready to pick up in 10 days, and the senior official in charge was responsible for monitoring the schedule and ensuring timely retrieval of the gift. However, two weeks and an alarming question later ("so when are we supposed to get it?"), it was clear the directive had not been followed, and the Chairman of SteerCo was urged to "come along" on Mother's Day morning to support the final step and ensure deliverables are achieved within deadline. Once again, Sylvia met us as we picked up the finished project - which looks quite much nicer and different in its glazed and completed form than the raw material - and even kindly offered to take our family photo holding it. Artsy also offers workshops & classes, kids & adult paint or pottery parties, summer camp, and mobile events. Whether you want to paint something for yourself, make a gift for someone else, or just find something fun and crafty to do, I highly recommend them!

It was ok. There was only one person working (our "designated party host") who also was attending to multiple other painting customers and others who wanted smoothies made. She was overworked and overwhelmed. Another mother and I wound up helping the girls in the party with their slime, going so far as to grab the materials needed, hand them out, and help mix and give directions. There were other customers who even arrived, waited at the front door for 5 minutes and then turned around and left due to no one being able to acknowledge them. Our party host did the best she could given the constraints. We've been to many other birthday parties here before and we did not have the same great experience hosting ours. I received an email a few days after the party asking for my feedback, which I filled out honestly. Never heard anything back. ‍ We will return to paint some pottery, but won't ever have a birthday party here.
