I hired Makeover My Yard to address irrigation issues in the front and side areas of my yard. Evan proposed a design that included dry creeks, underground water filtration and berms. Based on this project, I would not recommend this group. The dry creek and underground piping are fine. However, they did not use the shade of stone that matches my existing landscape, which we discussed in our consultation. And the above ground berms have not routed the water successfully - instead they made the situation worse by creating new water dams in the yard. After the project ended, I contacted Evan four times over four weeks as these issues need to be addressed. Nobody at the company has responded. I invested $7000 into this project and it will cost at least $3500 to correct the issues with the rock and the berms. Given their poor customer, failure to provide what was promised and refusal to do anything to address the situation, I would not recommend this company. read more

We took them to small claims court and got a ruling in our favor. That was Feb. 5, 2019 we are still waiting on the check. Wish us luck.

I had an extremely positive experience with this company and everyone I interacted with throughout the process. I will use them again and would recommend them to anyone else. They constructed an 1,800 sq ft sports court surrounded by a retaining wall and landscaping, all in front of a connected 1,000 ft. paver patio, covered porch and walkway. The wall and patio have built in landscape lighting and are surrounded by tasteful landscaping and drainage solutions, transforming our awkward, sloped plot into the awesome backyard we pictured and that we can actually enjoy. Extremely pleased with the quality of work and our experience with Evan (owner) and everyone we partnered with throughout the process. They were incredibly patient with me as we worked through many different design alternatives (large project and a lot of challenges with the grade) and through a lengthy process with my incompetent HOA management company, and were terrific helping to coordinate with the folks I had to bring in for the concrete work (offering to handle some of their work when the first company I had lined up turned out to be in over their head). They recognized additional potential issues with our drainage mid project and installed additional drains and piping. The office manager was in touch with me constantly throughout the several month process of actual construction. Would give 6 stars if I could. Won't review on behalf of others, but only after work began did we come to find out that they also did stonework and landscaping for a home down the street from us that we had been admiring since it was installed. read more

Make Over My Yard did our landscaping for our front and backyard and they also built a paver patio to our pool, including a retaining wall. Let's start with saying we cannot say enough good things about this company and the entire team! If we could rate them 10 stars we would. The whole experience from the initial consultation, the design and to finishing of the project was excellent! Communication was great, they always got back to us right away and answered any questions we had. The crew is fantastic - very skilled in what they do, and they were utmost respectful of our property. You could tell the guys took pride in their work and it showed. On top of that, each evening, they cleaned up after themselves and made it look like there wasn't even anything going on at our house. They finished the work in 8 days, paver patio, landscaping, and all. The result turned out better than we could have hoped for and we are so very glad we chose Make Over My Yard to complete this project for us. We highly and wholeheartedly recommend them and would never choose anyone else for any of our future landscaping needs. read more

Makeover My Yard really left us in a bind. They responded to a bid that we put out through Angie's List for help with 1. repairs to an external retaining wall and stone walkways + porch flooring 2. installation of railings around the porch and going down some external staircases 3. general clean up of yard and gardens. We were initially impressed with the responsiveness and agreed to the quote that was provided to complete this full scope of work in 4-5 days. They were supposed to start on a Monday. They did not start until Tuesday and that was OK. But, after 3 days on the job, they then told us that they would not be able to complete the installation of the railings (#2 above). The work that they did complete was good, but they quoted us on work that they were not able to do. We understand that mistakes happen, but we expected more direct and proactive resolution so we could have adjusted our plans sooner. Makeover My Yard did end up making it right and compensating us for their mistake and our inconvenience, but only did so after we shared our negative experience in reviews of their company. read more

I called Makeover my yard about 3-4 months ago to get a quote on finishing some small projects around the house (install cap on my retaining wall, install Tennessee slabs (vertical) next to my stone steps with a 12" wide x 4" deep band of river rock next to the slabs and add another retaining wall). The quote took about 1 month to get which should have been the first red flag. Then i sent a final detailed email with the complete scope for Paul to agree and write the contract. When i said OK lets get this done it took Paul their PM another 1-2 weeks to get me their Contract. I signed it and asked for a rough schedule date of install. It took weeks again to get an answer and found out they were out into July of 2018. Project size is about $3,300.00 nothing big. There crew came to install the wall cap and do the Tennessee slabs(vertical) on July 14th & 15. July 14th they installed about 90% of the wall caps. The wall caps looked good. I get a phone call on the 15th from Paul stating they are done, it looks great and when can he get the final payment. I told him i was not home to review their work and would be home about 5ish. I got home about 3:30-4pm just as their guys were leaving. So i walked it and found multi items that were not satisfactory. I called paul to go over the list of things that did not look right. See list below: - The stone slabs where not straight running up the steps/hill. They were in and out by 1-2"s - The slabs were not even in line up the hill. They had dips in them over about 1-2"'s - The slabs at the bottom of the step were installed straight and not notched for a finish look into the stone caps like we discussed. Plus one side was about 2" short, unfinished - Caps in the stone as they but together because they were not cut to a smooth finish surface - at the top of the steps the walls just ended in the middle of a step. No thought into how to finish it - River stone was only about 2" thick and not 4" thick - Slabs were only 12" wide and not the 15" wide like we discussed (This was not discussed this day due to me not catching this issue. I found this out when i had to finish the project myself. See below for more info on this) Paul did come out to review these items but was in a hurry for his weekend vacation. I went over these items with Paul. Some of the things that Paul stated about each item are below and in order from above - (Paul) Your stone steps have not perfect so as the guys his a rocky edge that makes the straight line. Stone is not perfect. (I said) Paul i agree that in 4 situations (i pointed them out, very small) the steps do have a edge bigger then the others but why would you not call and tell your customer this isn't going to look right and i need to cut these off. I would approve about 1-2 hours of cutting them. (Paul) if i called all my customers jobs would take forever. (me) Really, it just shows lack of Landscaping professional or Quality Control - (Paul) Stone is suppose to look natural (Me) Why would you not pull a string so they line up? (Paul) This is not something that we typically do and should not have even done this project - (Paul) I miss understood what you wanted but if i cut the slabs to notch out for the stone cap it could break. (ME) It could but only if your guys don't do it right because the weight should not be resting on the tip of the notch. (Paul) how would my guys know to notch out for the wall cap (ME) your the professional and do you think it looks good/finished (Paul) No but Chris what do you expect out of $10.00 hour guys (Me) How is what you pay your men my problem?? I expect a landscaping professional to take care of the finish look like even if we didn't discuss ever detail. I shouldn't have to tell you when to cut a stone, how to cut a stone, how to end the slabs. Paul agreed to come back that next Monday/Tuesday to fix everything. He also told me he would have to do it himself, he is getting heat from his owners because they bid it to low, this is not a HardScape job and they knew they shouldn't have touched this small project. I agreed to let them come back as long as someone from their company managed the workers. He said OK they will fix it. Then he asked for Payment. I told him no am not paying you full payment. I gave him some money but held 1k. The next Monday they arrive to fix everything. I get 2 texts saying they are done and here is a picture. I stated i will look at it when i get home. I get home and it is worse then before. I wrote a letter and sent to Paul with pictures from Mondays rework. To this day i have not heard anything from the owners. I had to finish/fix this project myself. DO NOT HIRE THEM. I will end up spending more than my 1k I held to fix this. More to say but no more space to type. I have pictures. Three other companies had come out and not been concerned about that. I waited for another week and called her. She said she would send me a quote. It's been a week and nothing from her.
