I am new to the LA area and my brother's wedding events spanned two weekends in mid-October. My sister and Mom were coming in from DC and also wanted their makeup done, so I took to Yelp to find someone who would come to us and who clearly was familiar with working with darker skin tones. Val was the first one I found and after going to her website, I straight up prayed that we would be lucky enough to work with her. And we did! She met us in random locations in Santa Monica and Malibu, made us look and FEEL beautiful, and above all, made us as comfortable as she could. The makeup matched our skin tones perfectly and was perfectly in place for the whole night. She even saved our butts for a last minute photographer for one of the events! Day of! Honestly, Sharon is so good at what she does, I don't even think I needed a trial because I absolutely loved what she did but it gave me peace of mind and reassurance. I told her all my concerns (oily skin, hair that doesn't hold curls, etc) and she made sure it was all addressed. I had SO many compliments after my trial and on wedding day. My hair normally doesn't hold a curl but I wanted cohesive waves and they held the entire night without making my hair feel stiff. She was perfectly on time too. Her arrival, set up and doing my mom's makeup, my sister's hair and makeup and then mine. She ended perfectly at the end time we aimed for too. When you own a business - and as the business owner you fail to come through - it is the owners responsibilty to ensure the customer still has a positive outcome. This is not who these girls are. STORY: Last week we had a trial done for a wedding and it was decent - very basic - nothing flashy and using basic MAC makeup I can buy myself - we committed them to the wedding. Yesterday - THEY canceled on us; while this happens, I understand - this "team" refused to refund the $ for the trial. It was not my fault they canceled - we committed them both based on the trial - if I didnt like the trial, I would have still paid it as that's how it works - we know this - BUT it was THEM who canceled. Furthermore, Both didn't need to cancel either, they explained the circumstances and one could still perform for the wedding - but apparently they cannot service the client independently. We would have been ok with at least one of them. I was told if I wanted to get my money back, I would have to give back the make up used in the trial. Really? this is how you run a business? So with little time to go and a budget - we are left having to find someone new. We found someone professional who actually has a contract - not just text message agreement that they can bail out on. I…read morewas unsure if i needed a makeup trial beforehand, Ashley was open to tiger option but encouraged trying some looks to be sure were on the same page... WOW! I cant imagine a bride not having a trial! It was awesome meeting Ashley and discussing things before the big day. My mom and I asked her to explain everything as she was doing my makeup which was a really eye opening experience as to just how much goes into the bridal makeup process. She created a look that was flawless in person, and would be eventuates in photos which is SO IMPORTANT! On my wedding day, Ashley showed up to our venue ready to go with makeup chair, supplies and a fantastic energy...
