Very poor experience with this physician. She refused to prescribe a very basic pain management medication, for absolutely no reason. She said she was going to move or retire, so I suspect her personal or professional problems were reflected on her patients. Very unprofessional. read more

I agree with Cornelia and Christine. I had another doctor there who left so I was also stuck with this doctor, and at first when it was just a small thing say like a cold, or a mosquito bite well, it was simple. But once I needed moral support, understanding, and gentle care, forget it. She is condescending, old fashioned to the point of paranoia, as in, not open to any suggestions or what you see your needs are, narrow-minded and in the end it she was being I felt really rude, to me. Awfully uncomfortable. I am NEVER EVER going back. I prefer to suffer anxiety occasionally than to be in front of someone with such little feelings for us the patients. We are not a number, we are a person with feelings. I understand that the world is full of drug problems, but some of us are just regular people, who need occasional help, for occasional general anxiety. I will go back to homeopathic medicines before I am encountered one more time but the ruthlessness and coldness of some Western medicine doctors. I anyone knows a good, nice, caring doctor please let me know. (Oh, and by the way, I have been going to this office for more than 19 years, and because of COVID I didn't go back in 3 years, I don't have insurance and they charged $290 because they said "I was a new patient" - very frustrating. I had heard from a friend that Dr. Maki was a great doctor. She may be--I never got a chance to find out because her office staff was so incompetent that they said they took my insurance, made me wait two months for an appointment, then told me they didn't take that insurance--despite the fact that Wendy Maki is listed as a provider on the site (and they had taken the insurance at that office when I went to see a different doctor for a more urgent situation that I couldn't wait two months to address). When I mentioned they'd taken my insurance two months earlier, they said they had the number but had it listed under a Blue Cross Blue Shield--which I hadn't used since the 1970s! The first visit I'd had to this office was problematic as well. They said my appointment was in the afternoon, though I'd definitely booked for the morning (I have a regular job in the afternoons). I'm hoping it's one bad egg in the staff, but the other post makes me wary. If you know of a good doctor in the Ridgefield area--with an organized and competent staff--please let me know! read more

Another doctor was working in this practice and I was going to her and liked her. She left and I got stuck with Dr. Maki. She has no personality, no compassion and is condescending....... Additionally, when you need anything from the office staff, immunization records, forms filled out, etc....it's always "2-3 weeks", to make a copy or print something from the computer? Isn't this 2012? I'm looking for a new Dr. now..... Any suggestions in the Ridgefield, CT area of a great MD with a personality! read more

I LOVE Dr. Maki! I think she is a wonderful doctor, who listens well and takes great care of me. I have been going to her since 2008 and it used to be convenient since I worked right down the block... well I no longer work in the area and I still travel about an 1 hr just to see her. read more

After reading the last two reviews I had to write one...it teaches me that not all reviews are relevant or correct ....I've been using Dr. Maki for about 5-6 years and absolutely adore her...she always is kind, interested in my well being...takes the time that's necessary and has always been there for me...The office staff is okay, but I've gotten to know them better and thus they are responding much better to me...I do think it is a two way street as with anything else...I give them a smile and attention and I get it back...I recently moved away and leaving Dr. Maki was one of the hardest parts...she is a gem. read more

Dr. Maki is warm and kind. She is a good practioner, not an alarmist. She listens to me and gives me a straightforward honest impression regarding the issues that concern me as her patient. I strongly disagree with an earlier review below that she has no personality, compassion and is condescending. She is straightforward and honest. I don't think that is unkind when it comes to my health, I feel she is very interested in my health. She encourages, perhaps challenges me to be accountable and make good choices in this regard. She is not quick to prescribe medication, which I appreciate as all medications have some side effect. I feel lucky to have Dr. Maki as my physician, I think she cares about me and my health. read more

I have been a patient at Family Medical since the 90s and could not speak more highly of Dr. Maki and her staff. She is kind, funny, no-nonsense in the best way, has taken the time to get to know me and my family and has comforted me through some of the most difficult times of my life, including grief and illness.
