I had some pretty hefty work done with Dr Rigney and here is my honest takeaway : Key difference with my three visits at Athens Advanced dental was, Dr Risinger was not there to give me bs or talk to me like a child. He was courteous , patient and stating the facts of what he believed was best for me with options. I felt like he wasn't trying to sell me on anything, just the facts and answered every one of my many questions. I also felt zero pain with major work done. He was the only dentist in 10 years that took his time to explain any and all concerns I had including insurance questions and didn't make me feel like I was just a sale. During a visit for two fillings, the technician applied numbing gel to my gums but didn't allow it time to take effect before administering the injection. The pain was excruciating. From there, the procedure became overwhelming. I understand that certain tools and techniques are necessary, but the manner in which things were done felt incredibly inconsiderate. Instruments were inserted without any reassurance or concern for how I was coping. I was visibly shaking and crying from the intensity of it all, yet not once did anyone pause to check in or ask if I was okay. The experience made me feel less like a patient and more like a task to be completed. Compassion should never be optional in healthcare, especially during moments of vulnerability. I'll never forget the feeling, I now get extremely anxious when walking in.

The left side came unglued and was springing up and poking me. Very painful!! I guess 28 years of the glue holding was a good long time, but time was up! I called my regular dentist and they could not help me, instead referred me to an orthodontist. I went there, and upon leaving I could tell what they did was not going to last, as it felt very thin for some reason. I was right, the very next morning, the retainer sprang loose again and I was in the same boat. I called Dr. Coker's office and spoke to Mary, who had me come in right away. I should have called Dr. Coker in the first place. I went in, and his assistant thoroughly applied the best adhesive ever and got my retainer back in place. I imagine it will hold another 28 years or better! I would highly recommend Dr. Coker's Smile Studio for any and all tooth situations and especially emergencies with your adhesive glue!
