Old school movie theater with up to date renovations. Relaxed seating and all of the usual popcorn and candy amenities. The bathrooms are clean and the staff is friendly. I love seeing an old school business thriving. Wednesdays are $3 ticket prices. Gift cards are available in the lobby. Deducted a star because it's not the fanciest theater and the location isn't ideal. Other than that, patron here if you can! It'd be a shame to see this relic shut down. read more

Probably the nastiest popcorn I've ever had at a theater taste horrible nothing like the old AMC theater where you could put on your own butter they don't even have popcorn salt they only have regular salt packets and don't get me wrong. The theater was absolutely disgusting. We went for a date night and we left before the movie even started because how nasty the theater was. As we walked into the auditorium we were hit with a heavy feeling and smell of humid musty air. It smelled like a sweaty locker room. Got to the seats and there was a cigarette burn hole in one of them and they somehow smelled worse. I have never left a movie but left within 1 minute of sitting down here. I know it's the only theater in the area but you need to avoid until then remodel or something. read more

Employee working the ticket stand had a terrible attitude. Curly dark hair, young teenage male. Insisted that we need an ID to get into a PG-13 movie before sunset. Other worker said we didn't, yet the employee did not stand down. Also would not accept any form of identification other than driver's license. I suggest not using the Fandango app to pre-purchase tickets. I did that yesterday and when I went to the kiosk with my confirmation number the kiosk only offered ability to purchase a ticket and no means to use my confirmation number. I had to get in line at box office and show my confirmation number to get tickets I'd already purchased online! Person next to me had same experience. When I called Malco today, they did not offer a solution, telling me the kiosks have been "finicky". Just be warned, go early, be ready to still stand in line if you purchase online AND you will be charged a "convenience fee" online that the box office purchase does not charge you! read more

My parents wanted to go see a movie here and when we pulled into the parking lot, I did not have high expectations. From the outside it looks like a rinky-dinky, small-town theater. Tucked away somewhat behind the mall, I didn't even notice it from the road. But what they lack in presence they make up for in presentation. The theater was super clean. I'm talking pristine. Maybe I showed up right after a professional steaming service just finished a job, but the place was spotless from the lobby to the bathrooms and the show room itself. This is not one of the newer cinemas where they have recliners for you to sit in. This is a clean, well kept cinema with overpriced admission and ridiculously priced snacks. I would guess that I have been in every one of their theaters at one point and I've never had an issue with the picture or sound quality. If you feel like mortgaging your home to watch a movie and you can't wait for Redbox to have it, then this is a good place to spend a couple of hours. read more

My 14 year old goes to see a 7:00 movie never told when she bought the ticket that she has to have a parent in with her. was only told she was too young to see a pg13 movie ,which she is not , when she gave the attendant the ticket inside the theater. she had a parent there I was there. rude rude all of the employees. This is the best pure movie theater in town. I don't even look at the Carmike unless Malco isn't playing a particular film I want to see. The facilities are great, the concessions are fresh (and, yes, expensive... it is a movie theater after all) and the staff of mostly college kids are all great. They even had a little arcade you can pass the time at, with pac-man, Galaga, and few 2-player shooters, and claw machines. Oh, and there's a Dippin Dots machine. Who doesn't like ice cream of the future? Take it from someone who watches 2-3 movies a month... this is where you want to be. Almost forgot to mention: there are automated ticket kiosks inside the left-most doors. For some reason, people in Fort Smith tend to shy away from these. I've literally never had to wait, even when there's a line outside in the rain or the cold... and yes, the price is the same, even for matinee. It pays to be smart, I guess. read more

Worst theater in town. Poor service and broken down seats. The theater was so hot we are sweating. After 30 minutes of stifling heat, I went up to the front, missing some of the movie and asked those kids to turn down the heat. They said is as cold earlier so they turned up the heat. They said they would turn down the heat, but never did. This ruined our movie experience. There doesn't seem to be any adult supervision there AT ALL. The staff seem to be not very smart. Every time we go to this theater there are talky losers who think they are sitting in their living room. The manager refuses to acknowledge this problem nor do they have ushers going in the theater to see if people are acting appropriately. I've lived in the area long enough to remember when Malco and Carmike did not always share the same lineups. Since they've adopted the same features I've been an almost exclusive Malco fan, with rare exceptions for start times. Malco has superior sound and video as well as comfortable seating. They serve Mr. Pibb, my favorite soda, so that's a big plus. My reasons for not giving five stars: Concessions are overpriced. Also, not a great fan of decision to move exclusively toward phone and internet Coming Attraction and showtimes notice, at expense of newspaper. Having the Friday edition of local newspaper with showtimes ad and the paper's review section is a favorite of mine. All in all, I have a theater less than six miles from home but will drive 22 miles to Malco for the benefits. read more

Generally this place is good. No problem with the places, certainly no problem with concession.....HOWEVER, whenever I decided to bring one of those miniature purses that change into a backpack, the very rude assistant collecting tickets told me that there is a policy regarding bringing in a backpack and wanted to know if I would like to discuss the policy with a manager. I didn't have any desire to discuss the policy with a manager, nor did I have a problem with their policy. So "now that I have been informed" I wouldnt bring this particular purse in again; but obviously, coming not prepared for a prepastrous policy such as this, I obviously couldn't "swap out a purse" at last minute. I go inside, find a seat, and with no warning whatsoever, the assistant walks in with two security guards who take my purse away!! They followed my husband to the car to make sure my purse was indeed, removed. They never once told me that I MUST speak to a manager about their policy, they didn't tell me that they weren't going to let me in if I had this purse, (I figured that they were just informing me for future reference)....heck, I would have gladly dumped my small bag out to show them my contents if they had asked! But they never did. They handled the situation VERY poorly, and they lost major points on our grading system. Malco, you are VERY VERY tacky. And this situation should have been taken care of VERY differently, and should have been corrected IMMEDIATELY! My husband and I BOTH deserve a MAJOR apology from your pathetic behavior. read more

This is usually our go to movie theater in Fort Smith. Last night we wanted to go see Neighbors. Being two obvious adults I was shocked to be asked for the id of both my husband and I before we could purchase tickets. We are no longer carded to buy alcohol, but clearly at the theater it is important. Without complaint we both presented our id. But after purchasing tickets and walking into our movie theater we were for a second time required to show ID. Why? Isn't once enough? And if the whole purpose is to keep kids from seeing an R rated movie why not just ask for it going into the theater. Twice was overkill and rather obnoxious. I said out loud to my husband, at least we won't have to deal with the annoyance of children. But 5 minutes after sitting down a 5 year old walks in with her parents. How did she get in? Surely she didn't have id that showed her to be over 18. To add insult to injury through the entire movie we got to listen to "Mom what does that mean" followed by a lot of shushing. I feel pretty strongly the rules do not apply equally at this theater. read more
