I brought my teenage daughter here on a legal professional's recommendation after a serious…read morebreakdown of trust between my daughter and her first counselor. This is important to my review because my daughter went into her first visit at Cornerstone very apprehensive, extremely pessimistic about the prospect of being able to trust another counselor, and frankly, pretty irritated with me for "making her do this again." I had met a few weeks earlier with and been very impressed with her new counselor at Cornerstone, their staff, policies, etc. At that standard first visit (where the counselor meets with just the parent), the counselor was very bright, approachable, attentive, and not rushed. She asked questions and took the time to hear the full answers, asked for clarification rather than assuming and moving on, and took time to give a thorough response to my questions. She was appropriately measured in her reactions to sensitive information, was not dismissive, and was very encouraging, describing in detail the experience she's had working with teens going through similar challenges, which put my mind at ease. After the visit, the receptionist took the time to work with our family's schedule to nail down times/dates, and went through one-by-one scheduling every session (bi-weekly) through the end of the school year. She said we'll take time to do the same thing in April or May for the summer visits, but that she wanted to wait until we'd know our summer schedule better to reduce potential for missed/cancelled visits. When we arrived for my daughter's first visit, the office staff was warm and inviting, the atmosphere was very comfortable, and the counselor was casual, relaxed, and eased my daughter's anxiety about the visit through natural, unassuming introductions and conversation. She gave me a moment to inform her of a few changes since our first meeting, then I left the room. After the session, as soon as we got outside, my daughter said, unprompted, "she is awesome!" She went on and on about the positive, comfortable nature of the session, how the counselor really focused on what she had to say, and said that even though she was still going to have to take some time to trust her new counselor as they get into the heavy stuff, she feels really good about it and is actually looking forward to her next visit. Conclusion: RECOMMENDED!

I am excited to help you become resilient and regain control of your life. Together we will work on exploring feelings in a non-judgmental environment, finding effective coping mechanisms, and improving areas that you wish to work on. My name is Julie Wilson, M.S., ALC, NCC and I am proud to be your future counselor. As an Associate License Counselor, I am under the supervision of Dr. Kelly Owenby LPC-S, NCC. I utilize and appreciate most theoretical approaches. I find myself often using a person-centered approach with cognitive behavioral techniques or dialectal behavioral techniques. I also have a love for art therapy and play therapy. Ultimately, my sessions are tailored to the client's individual needs for successful outcomes. As a counselor, I value the importance of building a successful client-therapist relationship together. I believe in collaborating to work on therapeutic goals. Together, we can work toward empowerment. I look forward to working with you and am so excited to be a part of your healing journey!

His appointment time was 8 am, by 8:15, I asked the extremely rude desk clerk/receptionist what was happening, and he says "Dr. Hirsh has kids and she is getting her kids off to school". I have 3 children, all under the age of 12, and manage to be on time for work every day. So she finally showed up at 8:30 and apologized for her tardiness. For my follow-up, she didn't even bother to show up. This has been the most unprofessional experience I've ever had. I would not recommend this practice/business to anyone. From the staff to the doctors, they do not respect people, their time, nor their money. I genuinely wish I could give this business -54 stars.

As I stated above I had been referred from my general doctor and been waiting for my appointment for 4 months. I got a text the morning of my appointment canceling my appointment, I called instantly and was told my paperwork had to be scanned and uploaded to their system (which isn't a problem) I was just never told to do so, I had all the paper work printed and filled out and told her I would send it over right away but my appointment had already been filled. So I waited 4 months for a appointment they filled within 1 minute. The next time the could see me is 3 months from now. Overall wait time for mental health 7 months?! Do not recommend.

On my last visit, I had the opportunity to read my chart and each visit was recorded as."High Risk Heterosexual Conduct" I did not appreciate being labeled high risk, although my partner is the one who stepped out on me on occasions during break up while we were in supposedly a monogamous relationship. When asked to have the high-risk removed, I was told that was not possible. But what I do understand it's a permanent part of my medical record which will affect my life insurance premiums and any jobs which look into your medical history to determine your eligibility and moral compass. (Federal employees). Needless to say, they have lost my trust. I did not go to the clinic to be labeled and judged I went seeking help and counsel. I must say the nurse is very professional and understanding, but could not advocate on my behalf shestated her hands are tied. She could bring it up to the board, but she doubt that any decision would be made in my favor. Your personal doctor would not write this in your medical records. He would simply write your diagnosis and prescribe the medicine. This is the price you pay for free and reduced medical care from the state and government, please read your medical records if you go to to thrive and see what they have to say about you and your private life.
