It's a good vets and I would recommend it for people in the area. We just felt happier attending the Doherty's clinic but I'm sure everyone has different needs for their pets. Glenburn have been running their surgery in this area for over 20 years and I'm sure they will continue to do so for a long time. I haven't heard any bad stories about them, as is becoming more increasing with vets nowadays. You can depend on Glenburn to be a reliable and friendly surgery where you can be sure your animal will be comfortable. We all know that no pet ever likes the vet but they may as well be comfortable in their surroundings and they certainly are here.

When, inevitably, I caved in, we ended up with a creature with the charming moniker of Jasmine living in our house. I have another name for it, but it's not one that I could possibly relate to you here, or indeed say in front of the kids. It loves nothing more than to stick its claws into my toes. So, we ended up going to Glenburn for all the usual new kitten/pet stuff, and the staff were very nice, and even made light of my opinions of cats. It turns out, however, that our cat has a taste for starting fights with other neighbourhood cats. Jasmine is rubbish at fighting and every time, she sustains a new and interesting injury. We have been to Glenburn about, ooh, once a month in the last year and the staff, and what they charge to repair our useless cat, have been faultless. This sounds more like a review of my awful pet, but should your undoubtedly beloved hamster (or whatever else) have a problem, I guarantee you that the vets here will sort it out, be charming to you, and not charge you a king's ransom.

Recently one of our cats had an infected wound following a fight with some magpies, we discovered the wound on a Saturday morning and contacted our local branch at Cavehill Rd who advised we would need to take him to Ballyclare as only a veterinary nurse was on duty. On phoning Ballyclare I was given a couple of times to chose from the same day to get him checked out. We only had to wait a few minutes on arrival before being seen, he was given an injection of a painkiller and we were sent home with a week of antibiotics to give him and some advice on caring for the wound but to contact them again if he got any worse. At £35 it wasn't too expensive a visit thankfully and within 24hrs our cat had perked up and wound was looking much better.

Easily accessible from the carpark. Animals can even be left in the car until the vet is ready for you. All Veterinary Pet Health Care plans are accepted but they do tend to push their own: PetPlan. The story which led us to Gortlands involves a dearly beloved cat, whose name was Toffee. At only 4 years old, Toffee developed a wee lump on her shoulder, but we were informed that it wasn't anything to worry about, just a foreign body or something, she'd be fine. This unnamed vet coincidently disappeared for a 3 week holiday over the Easter period, and we consequently heard nothing. Concern grew for our puss, and we decided that we had best take her to another vets. It was all very traumatic, and she ran away which really added to the stress of the occasion. A week later, Toffee was taken to Gortlands, where we were more reliably informed that she actually most likely had cancer. This meant having an operation to remove the tumour, but we knew this was a great risk, as she had lost a lot of blood already and was so small that we didn't think she could cope. The vet really was so helpful and kind, and did everything he could, but sadly Toffee passed away a few hours after coming through the operation. I honestly can't recommend these lovely people enough. They took care of everything for us, including her cremation, and were really so incredibly thoughtful. They truly cared. Since then, we have acquired a second cat from an animal sanctuary, and would happily take her to Gortlands if ever the requirement arose.

Patrick and his team are just wonderful. They really care about what they do and give the best treatment and advice. Our 2 wee monkeys have had their fair share of nicks and scrapes in their 2 years and every time, the Ashwood staff have been brilliant. After a particularly nasty infection, Patrick even phoned me a few days later to see how the patient was doing. The clinic is very bright and spacious and they sell all manner of pet food, toys, etc. they even have a great text reminder system of when your pet is due their next worming treatment and always keep you updated as to when the yearly vaccinations are due. The reception staff are so friendly and the veterinary nurses couldn't be nicer. Even though a trip to the vets doesn't fill my 2 dogs with glee, they really don't mind it that much and I put that down to Ashwood being an excellent veterinary practice with staff who really care about every animal they treat.

Last year id spotted a cat in the neighbourhood that looked like a stray and it was shaking and fitting and I picked it up and drove it straight to the vets, it turned out it had been poisoned and wasn't chipped , it was a male cat and didn't need neutered. It pulled through and the vets told me to take it back to where I found it and let it go. I see it sometimes about the place and it looks like its looked after. Relived I didn't end up getting a bill for it , they know me from being in every year though with my mums cat. There's a small shop with pet accessories and foods and my last time there was a cat asleep in one of the pet beds in the shop bit, I thought it was a teddy for a while but it is apparently the resident cat.

What I do like about them is they have several branches, and you can visit any of them, but what I don't like is you never see the same vet twice. I would imagine, like a doctor, if they get to know the patient they have a better understanding of their health? Maybe that's just me. Anyway, I usually go to the Cavehill Road branch and we always get an appointment very quickly. The girl on reception knows all the pets and takes a real interest in them, which is always nice. It's a tiny wee place though, so if you're afraid of any other animals, you could be surrounded by them at close quarters! They have operated on our dog twice and have always taken good care of her. The emergency vet is great too, they ring you straight back and will talk you through any issues on the phone. I would recommend Clare Vet group to look after any pet.

I bring my dog here and although he is a big wimp they really put him at ease - then stick a big needle in him!!! I had him neutered here and they really took good care of him, he was back home in a day and i was able to phone the on call vet for advice later that night. They have special deals for people who are unemployed so they can get animals neutered for free.

Apart from the tender care and treatment PDSA staff treat the animals with, the best thing about it has to be that they treat pets from low-income families for free. In North Belfast, low income families are common and extorionate vet fees even more so, so this is a much needed service.

My dog has been a member of the practise for a few years now and never ever had an issue to doubt…read morethe work ran in the facility. Recently my dogs health declined and he was back and forth numerous times from the clinic including a stay. Myself being on low income meant I couldn't afford what the set treatments price would be ( total would be in the thousands). The team answered every question and query I had and practised the covid outlines with such care. Every pet i have seen in and out of the clinic including my dog was handled with love and professionalism. My dog passed away on Sunday night at home and I telephoned the practise and due to the nature of covid they were able to help me step by step in arranging his body to be kept overnight in another vets close to my home before his cremation this week. They even went out of their way and telephoned me yesterday morning as a courtesy call to see how me and my family were managing and if there was anything else they could do on behalf of the practise for my family in arrangements. 5 stars is simply not enough to cover the love the practise has for their work ethic and professionalism and more importantly their furry and human clients.
