We were recommended to talk to Cornerstone Construction to fix what turned out to be serious problems with the way the work was done. They enlisted the help of an engineer to assess the problems and formulate a design to fix the problems, and then framed the roof in a way which is now very strong (it was in danger of collapsing under one more snow). I was very impressed with the structural work which is not seen as well as the finish work which is seen. Eric and Phil made a difficult process for us go as easy as possible. I will not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to anyone I know who needs work like this done. Both of them showed repeatedly they were doing more than just an excellent home repair and remodel, but also served us in the process. Thank you, Eric, Phil & crew!

Most of them didn't even return phone calls for 6 to 8 weeks, but Joe Hopkins and his crew were at our home quickly and gave us a no BS assessment of best and worst case scenarios. They were also 1/3 less than the other bids even for the low-end repair. In order to reduce costs we wanted to reuse our bathtub, shower glass, shower pan, and our original plumbing fixtures. While the "glass guy" said there was only a 20% chance of being able to reuse all the original glass, the carpenters and tile installers managed to restore the original shower dimensions so that all the glass just fit right in. We interacted with all the crew - carpenters, electrician, plumbers, tile installers, drywall god, painter, and the glass installers; they were, to a man, professional and genuinely nice people. At no time did we ever feel we were being snowed, and work progressed steadily. Joe Hopkins showed up frequently to check in on state of affairs and was up to date on the details of the job. Final results left us with a better shower than we had when it was a brand new home. We plan to use Cornerstone again for future projects.

I'll start this review with a set of questions. Have you ever heard of a contractor that does all…read moreof the following: says what he does and does what he says? Shows up with the consistency of a Swiss watch? Has the highest standards of craftsmanship? Is priced fairly? Yeah, me either - until now. Enter Artur Planeta of Planeta Works. We recently worked with him on a home project that included new flooring, a full kitchen demo and remodel, and redoing our fireplace. He came highly recommended to us by our designer (Andrea with Copper Boom Design) and I am glad we listened. From the moment we met Artur during a project scoping meeting, I noticed his attention to detail and keen eye. He asked thoughtful questions, identified potential risks that would require extra work, and was very thoughtful about his commitments. On the first day of work, Artur showed up at exactly 8am as he had promised and immediately got underway. Without fail, he arrived at the exact time he said he would each day he said he would be on site. He communicated any materials delays, concerns, or risks without hesitation and with appropriate urgency. More than that, he tolerated our questions and concerns throughout with kindness and respect, even the very silly ones. At the end of each day, Artur could be found organizing his tools in one place to keep them out of the way, vacuuming where he had worked to prevent dust and mess, and cleaning up the outside workspaces. It made living at home during this project as tolerable as one could hope for. For as messy as a construction project can be, it says a lot about someone who believes in a continuous clean and neat approach. While Artur did much of the project himself, any time he had helpers or subcontractors onsite (plumbing, electrical, tile etc) , they were just as outstanding as he was - it's clear to me that he has high standards for himself and for others and will not accept any less. I am not someone who is comfortable with people working in his home unsupervised, but I would trust Artur and the people he works with to do anything. His work speaks for itself and pictures do not do it justice - it's even more beautiful in person. We have plans in the next couple of years to redo our bathrooms and he will be our only call. Thank you, Artur, for bringing our dreams to life - and for being just an all around outstanding human - it was a privilege to have you on this project.

The longer I've been in my house the more I'm amazed at how much was missed on the inspection. This…read morewas a pre inspection from the seller. I was the buyer...so I of course have no recourse. He missed electrical tape covering a very corroded drain stack. His picture of the drain stack conveniently didn't include the corroded part. He said no issues with the chimney although there a multiple issues, (with both chimneys in my house) including a completely rotten support beam in the crawl space, failing mortar, and significant damage to the furnace chimney. Although he is not a mason he should have been able to recognize these signs of failure...and if he has no ability to recognize if their are issues with a chimney he should not say in his report "no issues with the chimney" Then some more minor things...sinks not secured to the walls...leaking drain under the kitchen sink. Those things aren't a huge deal but definitely speaks to lack of attention to detail. Everyday I hold my breath thinking about what other major issue that is If you are a seller looking for a pre inspection that doesn't point out some major problems then this is your guy. But if you are buying don't trust his report.

We hired Chris Honingford to conduct an inspection for the condo we were buying. Upon moving into…read morethe condo, we learned that the toilet was not secured the the floor. The bolts were completely stripped because the flange had been broken. There is no way Chris should have missed this. He claims he checked the toilet to see if it wobbled, but he obviously didn't. If he had, he would have discovered it was completely loose from the floor. We also learned the day we moved in that the 3-month-old water heater was leaking. That had be replaced as well. The bathroom faucet was also leaking and had to be replaced. Normally, I'd give Chris the benefit of the doubt and assume the water heater and faucet weren't leaking when he inspected it, but considering he missed something so obvious as the toilet, I'm not so sure. Our realtor (who recommended Chris) reached out to him about this, and he offered no recompense whatsoever. We had to buy a new toilet and have it installed. This was incredibly expensive. These problems were annoying and expensive to fix, but at least they weren't life threatening. Next time he might miss something more serious, like a gas leak. I'd recommend going elsewhere for your inspections. The fact he had no desire to make any effort to try to make this right should also give you pause. UPDATE: After Chris's complete unwillingness to do anything to make this situation right, I filed a complaint to the Attorney General's office, in the hopes of saving other people from a situation like this. Chris's response to the AG was to claim the plumber we hired was "inventing work". He doubled down on his claim that he checked the toilet, even though our realtor shared video we took with him showing how loose the toilet was. Anyone can make a mistake; that's forgivable. But you own up to it and do what you can to make it right. Lying about it and trying to pass the blame to other innocent parties is inexcusable.

David is a great guy and was easy to work with. However we had several issues:…read more First, he pushed for us to use a white color that my wife didn't love. In retrospect it was to save cash, the buckets of paint have another project name on them. Next, even after a change in scope from two colors down to a single color, the cost was not updated. In retrospect I shouldn't have written the check but even after follow up communication and questions there has been no change. In addition, he and his team replaced a quite a few fascia boards as ours had rotted. David overbought the boards and then left the unused boards in my backyard. Finally, He left early from the project, leaving his team who did not clean up the entire mess. There was also no final project walk through and so I have a couple spots left that were missed.
