It started months and months earlier during my prenatal visits. Jackie is kind. She's very smart. She supports and advocates for natural birth, but she also doesn't push limits into realms that are risky when there are complications. She doesn't mess around trying to do things naturally, when time is of the essence in more emergent situations for example. My birth was very much like that I wanted to have a natural birth at home, but my water broke early, and I was not going into labor. We worked with the doctors at rogue regional to create a plan, so that I could try and get onto labor, naturally but that didn't happen and I was able to partner with her on the best plan of action for getting induced. I'm so incredibly grateful to have worked with her because I didn't get to have the natural birth that I wanted due to the circumstances of my water breaking early but I did have an amazing hospital birth and she was right there at my side along side with my Doula Maddie and a great team at rogue regional. And Jacqie has been beyond phenomenal ever since the birth as well, coming to my home, a few times after the birth to do my check ups. She's been so amazing with my infant son. She's been super available to support me with all the wacky things that come up with a newborn. She has tons of information and she's helped me a lot with breast-feeding and the challenges around it. I cannot recommend Jackie enough. She is an angel.

I was so lucky to find Sue after my family and I relocated to Shasta when I was 37 weeks pregnant. From the very beginning my interactions with Sue and her team were always positive and full of learning. Sue has such a kind way of explaining everything there is to know about birthing and answering all questions in a non-judgmental and knowledgeable manner --she's also extremely funny which made all of our visits a delight. Such a profound honor it is to be stepping from maiden into the birthright that is Mother and it's a real privilege to be cared for by a strong, kind, and powerful women. Sarah brought me so much peace of mind throughout my entire pregnancy and birthing experience. I…read morehad a high risk pregnancy, and Sarah blew me away with all of the resources she collected for me, including digital resources and also connecting with her network of doulas to share with me stories of women with similar pregnancy complications. She helped my husband and me prepare for the hospital--both our physical belongings and creating a list of things we wanted to educate ourselves on so we could advocate for ourselves. Our prenatal meetings were so helpful, as Sarah was incredibly organized while I was still suffering from pregnancy brain. Sarah was supportive in the hospital, reminding me of the questions I told her I wanted to ask the medical staff. When my labor became active and progressed incredibly quickly (like, 2 hours quickly), Sarah helped to keep me as calm as a contracting woman can be, got the nurses in the room for me, and was the most amazing coach. I don't remember much from my active pushing time, but I do clearly remember Sarah's suggestions and how I noticed the helped me to be more efficient with my energy. If I have another child, I will not hesitate to snag Sarah as my doula again.

When I found out I was pregnant, I initially started off looking for an OB within my insurance…read morenetwork but after calling a reputable doctor's office and told that I needed to submit an application and see if I'm accepted first, I began to really reconsider what it is that I wanted. Like many other women, I had had past experiences with OBGYNs that leave you, frankly, feeling like cattle. Just in and out and sometimes not even a "bye" before leaving the room. That same day, I looked further and made an appointment to meet with Naomi, not really knowing much about midwifery. When I met with her, and we discussed unmedicated birth and home birth and what she and her staff offer, I just knew that this was right for me. I had not really ever wondered about a birthing experience for me but this felt so right. I still remember anxiously thinking, "oh, please have room to take me" as she calculated my due date and reviewed the births she already had scheduled for the month of May. To my joy, Naomi had room for me and so our journey began together until several weeks after my son was born safely at home. During our appointments, Naomi took all the time we needed to ask questions, hear our baby, and connect. I never felt rushed, judged, and truly felt cared for by Naomi and her staff. I feel so blessed to be able to look back at my birthing experience and feel so much love for this beautiful tribe of women (Naomi, her staff, Mariah and Krista, and my doula) all working together, calmly and soothingly coaching me, to assist me in brining my baby into this world free or chaos and to validate all my overwhelming postpartum tears and meet them with such love and compassion.
