I delivered almost a month…read moreearly and she was right there with me super available at 2 AM when my water broke, helping me make the best informed decisions but her amazing care definitely didn't start there. It started months and months earlier during my prenatal visits. Jackie is kind. She's very smart. She supports and advocates for natural birth, but she also doesn't push limits into realms that are risky when there are complications. She doesn't mess around trying to do things naturally, when time is of the essence in more emergent situations for example. My birth was very much like that I wanted to have a natural birth at home, but my water broke early, and I was not going into labor. We worked with the doctors at rogue regional to create a plan, so that I could try and get onto labor, naturally but that didn't happen and I was able to partner with her on the best plan of action for getting induced. I'm so incredibly grateful to have worked with her because I didn't get to have the natural birth that I wanted due to the circumstances of my water breaking early but I did have an amazing hospital birth and she was right there at my side along side with my Doula Maddie and a great team at rogue regional. And Jacqie has been beyond phenomenal ever since the birth as well, coming to my home, a few times after the birth to do my check ups. She's been so amazing with my infant son. She's been super available to support me with all the wacky things that come up with a newborn. She has tons of information and she's helped me a lot with breast-feeding and the challenges around it. I cannot recommend Jackie enough. She is an angel.

I was a bit skeptical, as I had never first handendly witnessed the birth of a child, let alone our own, and wasn't sure how much a doula could possibly benefit the process. From the start Sarah was informative and organized. She helped us set our birthing plan and eased concerns that we both had. She has a calming demeanor about herself that helped us to relax during stressful and new situations. My wife chose to have a natural birth and Sarah deserves a lot of credit in helping us stick to that plan because I was far less useful than what I had envisioned. She was with us the entire way and knew tips and tricks that only can be learned through past experiences and education. She knew techniques to apply, positions to stand or sit in, and areas to massage during the entire labor that helped ease the process. When you watch someone you love go through something as intense as birthing a child and creating life, you can feel helpless, and it seems so obvious to me now that you would want to have someone like Sarah with you who has the best interest for your loved one and has been through the process before. I was newly pregnant and it was going to be my first time giving birth so I was very anxious. Me and my husband have no family in the area and are low income so we liked that they would be able to accept medical. We made an appointment to get seen and start the process. We met with one of their newer doulas. Everything was going good until she asked me if I liked my ob. I gave her an honest answer and told her why he made me uncomfortable. Which was that he was inappropriately looking at my chest OBSESSIVELY.It was something me and my husband noticed. We felt comfortable enough to share this with them to see what I could do from there. There response was so out of pocket to me. She literally said "oh, don't worry, he has a partner that also working the field. And we all really support and like him in Eureka"I felt completely unseen and left feeling so uncomfortable. I never went back and we did just fine on our own! Listen to your instincts always momma! We live in such a horrible place for quality medical care and unfortunately we are often a lot better with vouching for ourselves in small towns like this. There seems to be some sense of loyalty to hospital staff rather than pregnant families... which is wild to me because I went to them looking for help and for someone to vouch for me. Horrible experience that I can't get over even now being 9 months postpartum .

When I found out I was pregnant, I initially started off looking for an OB within my insurance…read morenetwork but after calling a reputable doctor's office and told that I needed to submit an application and see if I'm accepted first, I began to really reconsider what it is that I wanted. Like many other women, I had had past experiences with OBGYNs that leave you, frankly, feeling like cattle. Just in and out and sometimes not even a "bye" before leaving the room. That same day, I looked further and made an appointment to meet with Naomi, not really knowing much about midwifery. When I met with her, and we discussed unmedicated birth and home birth and what she and her staff offer, I just knew that this was right for me. I had not really ever wondered about a birthing experience for me but this felt so right. I still remember anxiously thinking, "oh, please have room to take me" as she calculated my due date and reviewed the births she already had scheduled for the month of May. To my joy, Naomi had room for me and so our journey began together until several weeks after my son was born safely at home. During our appointments, Naomi took all the time we needed to ask questions, hear our baby, and connect. I never felt rushed, judged, and truly felt cared for by Naomi and her staff. I feel so blessed to be able to look back at my birthing experience and feel so much love for this beautiful tribe of women (Naomi, her staff, Mariah and Krista, and my doula) all working together, calmly and soothingly coaching me, to assist me in brining my baby into this world free or chaos and to validate all my overwhelming postpartum tears and meet them with such love and compassion. I initially chose this birth center because I wanted an unmedicated water birth and they accepted my insurance. My pregnancy was low-risk. When my water broke, I was scheduled for an appointment 9 hours later, at which they told me it was just cervical fluid and sent me home. I trusted my gut, went to Asante in Medford, and was admitted to The Binette Family Birth Center shortly thereafter with PROM (a premature rupture of membranes). My water had broken. At the point of my admittance and transfer of care, it had been 13 hours since rupture, which raised the risk of complications. This ultimately led to the first 8 days of my son's life spent in the NICU with long-term impacts that we can't yet know. We would not have been so fortunate if we had followed the guidance of our midwife at Rogue Birth Center. The fact that my son is alive today is a miracle (that Asante granted). The reality is, I could have lost my child to the negligence of RBC's practice director--in the exact same way another mother sadly had a few years ago. My heart goes out to every woman, child and family who have suffered at the hands of this team and the owners of this center.
