Lordsburg, NM, supper time, my wife and I were tired after a hard day javelina hunting. We called in a pick-up order to Mama Rosa's Pizza on Saturday, February 5, 2022. We ordered a Meat Lover's, large, traditional crust pizza. The woman answering the phone promised it would be ready in twenty to thirty minutes. Twenty minutes later I walked through their door and the cook told me he hadn't started cooking the pizza yet. He said it would be ready soon. I sat at an old booth and looked at old photos of Lordsburg, Coca Cola memorabilia, and other cool decorations. The interior of the restaurant was a bit run down and one of the cooks and the waitress took turns answering the phone orders. It never stopped ringing. They were extremely busy, mostly with take-out orders, but a group of four hunters were eating at a booth next to me. My pizza was finally ready after forty minutes of waiting. We ate our pizza in the nearby Motel 6. They were very generous with the Parmesan and red chile flake packets. I enjoyed the pepperoni and sausage, but the cubed ham contained more fat than meat. The crust was a bit too cracker like and dry for my liking and the marinara sauce tasted like it came from a cheap can. Average pizza with a long wait. We paid $18.31 for a large pizza. read more

This place looks and feels like it had glory days, but has maybe lost its passion or motivation along the way. I went to pickup a pizza and mozzarella sticks. The restaurant feels like it was an exciting and nice setup that has been barely cleaned or kept up over the years - booths are dirty and you sink when you sit, lots of old Coca Cola memorabilia including an old Coke machine that looks abandoned rather than at least cleaned and maintained, and the lighting is fluorescent and kinda depressing. The employees are nice but the girl who handled my transaction had a "I hate my job" vibe. The man who appeared to be the owner had a nice attitude, but seemed very distracted. The gas station convenience store next door had a cheerier vibe. My food was supposed to take 45 minutes, but took over an hour. No big deal, but they weren't busy either (I called my order in advance, when I got there a couple was placing a takeout order well behind mine, phone wasn't blowing up for orders). I ordered a medium with extra cheese and extra mushroom - they put extra cheese, regular mushroom, and included pepperoni and sausage on the pizza - not the toppings I asked for. It was very doughy too - like they pulled enough dough for a large pizza or bigger, but only stretched it out enough for a medium. However I'll say for being in the middle of nowhere New Mexico, it beats any main chain pizza and it's pretty delicious for a post 12 hour day of driving. The mozzarella sticks are definitely frozen from a box/bag and heated up, but they tasted alright with a mozzarella sauce that tasted like warmed up Ragu. I'd definitely return if passing through Lordsburg and wanting pizza, but not a place I'd return to in any town with better pizza. read more

The place reminds you of a small hole in the wall you would find in Little Italy. The service is astonishing. They great you and bring drinks right away. We were the only ones sitting down in the dining area. The waitress made sure our glasses never went empty. The portions are humungous. We ordered a jumbo breadstick order. It was gigantic. It filled a standard pizza tray. For 8.99 it was a fabulous deal! We also ordered an xl pizza. This pizza came with 12 huge slices. It was flavorful and filled up our family of 6. We also ordered the hamburger and fries for my dairy free daughter. The fries were cricut and cooked just right. Not soggy and not burned. They were mouthwatering. The burger was huge. Worst pizza I ever tried to eat. One bit, spit it out & in the trash. BAD... The entire restaurant is nasty & needs cleaning. From the cook messing with the industrial size fan & cooking food to the ceiling light socket used as an electrical outlet to the piled up old furnature taking up half the dining area. I came to Lordsburg for years for work and never realized this place was there! What a shame that I never tried this place before today. We had a very good pizza here and the owner was wonderful. I ordered an iced tea which came immediately, but just after delivering our pizza, the owner came out with a fresh glass of tea for me. He explained that he'd thought fresh tea had been made, but it hadn't and since he dislikes "old" tea, he made me some fresh tea. I was so impressed! The pizza was delicious and there was a good ratio of ingredients. There was some of everything in every bite of pizza, which was great. We had the thin crust and it was so good. We will be stopping here each time we travel through Lordsburg. read more

Ordered a large hand tossed Royal combo had it delivered to my truck since I'm a truck driver. Guy that took my order was very polite & the pizza arrived pretty fast right to the truck. Pizza is good most of the time, but then they will miss badly. They will always tell you it will be ready in 30 or 40 minutes but it never is. They will not start cooking until you walk in, so plan to wait at least 20 minutes. Today the pizza was thrown together and it had more cheese on the box then crust. This place was a great surprise on our stay and drive though NM. Cheese bread is basically the size of a medium pizza!!! Was a huge hit. the salads description just says with cheese, and we ordered ours without so were expecting just to have lettuce. It was a fantastic surprise when they arrived with lots of veggies. I would update the description as it's misleading and under representative of the actual course. Had the food delivered to our hotel: the delivery person was extremely nice and food was delivered within time frame and still warm. I found this place on here and thought we would give it a try since hubby was craving pizza. Upon entering the restaurant it smelled like old, rotting lettuce. So bad in fact that my kids chose to wait outside for me to place the order. There was no sign of air conditioning inside and the stale air was accompanied by some buzzing flies in the dining area. The decor ranged from Coca-Cola memorabilia to old trinkets and other interesting things on the wall. I wouldn't say it felt clean, but it didn't look dirty either. The service was friendly (but nothing incredible), and the prices appeared fairly decent (about $10 for large 2 topping pizza). We were the only customers there so the wait wasn't long, maybe 15-20 minutes for them to make it. In the meantime we kept busy at the Firework store next door. We took our pizza back to our hotel room and although it looked promising, I have to say we were incredibly disappointed. The pepperonis were TASTELESS-- they could have been made out of tofu given their flabby texture. I'd say the cheese was most likely imitation since it curdled into a gummy mess in your mouth upon chewing it. We didn't feel comfortable finishing it in fear that we would get sick and due to our pending long car ride the next day, we didn't want to risk an illness so we ended up eating McDonald's instead. I don't think I would recommend it. If you REALLY need a pizza fix, then maybe it's worth a try, but we wouldn't return. read more

I ordered from them because they delivered to my hotel. If I had known, I would have gone out somewhere else. Though cheap, it's still not worth it. The toppings were CLEARLY from a can or previously frozen. There was no seasoning, and if it wasn't for the cheese I added after the fact the pizza would have tasted like a wet napkin.
