I went on a Monday around 11 am and it was packed but it's also the summer time. The parking was very easy as it is located in a shopping plaza. My first impression when I was that it felt like a smoothie spot on the beach. I loved the garage door that completely opens with the swings and I also liked the indoor, bar and outdoor seating. They were well staffed so the wait wasn't long. There's a menu posted on the outside so that you can decide what you want before you go in. I went for the Ohana bowl. This was my first time visiting this Mamaka Bowls location, and unfortunately, it wasn't what I had hoped. I really wanted to love my açaí bowl, but it just didn't hit for me. I ordered the Mamaka bowl with cacao nibs, but the granola tasted a bit stale. I think this was just a one bad experience for me because I've genuinely enjoyed the Houston location in the past. That said, the bowl was still refreshing to have after a hot August run. The vibe here is laid back and relaxed. I like the Hawaiian surfer aesthetic of this place. There's high top seating available indoor and table seating plus two cute swing chairs that I really liked outdoor. The staff was also very kind and welcoming. There's plenty of lot parking available along with additional garage parking. I will most definitely give this place another shot soon but will probably try a different bowl. read more

I don't frequent this sort of establishment; much prefer to make my own blended drinks at home. But a friend loves this place so I was up for it. Long line but moved quick. Naturally I ordered a cappuccino. We sat at the counter and I got to see many smoothies/bowls (you can get them either way) being passed along to customers. By the end of our time there, I was thinking, I'm coming back and trying one of those! It all looked so good. My cappuccino wasn't great, just okay (tasted fine at least) but the iced coffees looked delicious. Lots of options here, probably something for everyone. I also enjoyed the breakfast taco my friend recommended. Pre-made egg, cheese and tater tots--simple but hit the spot! Bathroom was out of order but I zipped over to HG Sply and it was no problem. I've been to this Mamaka multiple times and have had various different experiences. The first time I went was overwhelming with the choices, but once I figured out what I like, it's a quick order. During peak time, which I would say is lunch hour, they get very busy. I would say that you probably would wait 10-15 min after your order has been placed, so don't go if you're in a rush. I love the swings, but I will say the decor in here gives the vibe of a shack in a beach town. If that's what they were going for, that is great, but it feels very rushed and unfinished. Almost dirty. It's nothing to prevent me from going here, but the place could be a bit nicer. My favorite is the Bro, cause I like that it has protein and not a lot of unhealthy ingredients. I'm trying to lose weight and this one is a good one. They have all of their bowls as smoothies too, which I usually get so I can take it on the go and just sip it. The one thing I don't like is the coffee here. It is definitely unique to Mamaka, so if you like coconut, go for it. But their coffee is a coconut flavored coffee that is alright, but not something I crave. I do like coconut, but the flavor of the coffee is a bit off putting for some reason. Even in the cold brew, it has the same flavor. I usually will only get the coffee if Mamaka has a shorter wait than Ascension. It's not for everyone, but try it out! read more

Last thing I want to add is how there was a homeless person who came to sit on the swings while we were at the table outside waiting. She then hit a customer's child and was making it impossible for anyone to grab their drinks from the pickup counter without getting hit. I usually go to Mamaka Bowls when I'm back home, so I'm super excited they're opening one in Austin in early 2025! I always get the Mamaka Bowl. I've loved it so much that I never venture out and try anything new. It's an acai based bowl topped with granola, strawberries, bananas, and blueberries. My sister's favorite is the Maui Sunrise Bowl, and she thinks its easily the best. It's usually topped with mango, granola, and banana. Their granola is honestly the best I've ever had. I've never tasted anything like it from store bought granola. The restaurant itself is so cute and very instagrammable. It has a fun beachy vibe with fun swings that make it a great spot to sit and eat at. I can't wait for the new Austin location to open, definitely will be one of my go-to spots! read more
