Not my favorite breakfast or lunch spot in Florence but it was pretty good. staff is all super warm and welcoming and I would definitely feel special orders here if looking for a place.

I am so in love with this place. If they had Wifi I swear I'd be here all day. Best place to come in Florence for bagels and american style baked goods. They often have special types of quiches and savory casserole dishes. But their cupcakes are awesome and I love the brownies too. The coffee (american style) is OK too, although I prefer something a bit stronger ... Besides the food, why I keep coming back is because the bakery is big and spacious, lots of seating and an outdoor seating area. Big windows, always a table available, even during rush lunch hour. Like I said IF they had WiFi I would come more often ; ) HINT HINT M Bakery! I'm not holding my breath though ... it's been more than three years and still no wifi. I love this chill place and the staff is always friendly accommodating. Gotta come here for breakfast or a late afternoon sweet snack!

It's easy to get lost trying to find Mama's Bakery (ask me, I got lost nearly every time I went, and I lived there!), but once you find it you're glad you toughed it out. It's hard to make out from the street, right until you're standing in front of it. This was one of my go-to places for those moments when I just really, REALLY wanted a bagel sandwich or a cupcake. Or a cookie. *ahem* I went here with my girlfriends for bagels and coffee, so I have many fond memories here. A good amount of the word-of-mouth advertising is directed towards the expat community and study abroad schools, so if you're looking for a place that feels a bit more like home then look no further. Love the coffee and tea refills too =)

The eggs benedict here is amazing. I cannot wrap my mind around the fact that the best brunch I have had in Florence is from a cafe! Will be back to eat the eggs benedict again and try the french toast!!

Sunday brunch at Mama's Bakery: benedict eggs + spicy carrot cupcake + cofee. The cupcake was fab, cinnamon flavoured and a delicate soft cheese cream topping...and then, a visit to Picasso exhibition. Great Sunday!!

Delicious salmon bagel and lovely service. Cute courtyard in the back and they offer the ever important free wifi!!!

We had the egg/cheese/ham bagel along with this chocolate raspberry muffin, deliciousness!

Great American/Italian mix of flavor! It's hard to find somewhere where they actually sell actual breakfast, but this does! This place is pretty sweet!

Stopped in on our way out of Florence for the weekend, and we all had the BEST eggs Benedict. This place was cute, quaint, and everyone spoke English. Very reasonably priced

The first night we dined at this restaurant in the little tiny room in the back. It was magical. Every dish exceeded the last. We had a pear & pecorino salad. That was a work of art and we hated messing it up. We passed around our appetizers and main courses and we all loved everyone else's food. The highlight of this night and the night that we came back to eat again was the owner, Pasquale. He treated my mother like royalty. When we were coming up to the door, he jumped up from his counter and came out and took her arm and escorted her to the table both times. And then he escorted her out as well. One night when I went past the restaurant by myself, he inquired where my mom was. He made her feel like a queen and she is still talking about it to this day. We can't thank him enough for the beautiful meals and the five star treatment.

**I Girone de' Ghiotti -- Florence, Italy **…read more Before leaving Florence, we had to make a stop at the viral sandwich spot everyone seems to rave about--and I'll admit, we arrived before opening, second in line, slightly skeptical about whether the hype was actually deserved. **OH. MY. GOD. It was.** This was hands down one of the best sandwiches we've ever had. The bread was fresh and perfectly crisp on the outside while still soft enough to hold all the incredible fillings together. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and thoughtfully put together. The menu has around 18 different combinations, and while they're happy to make some adjustments, I actually appreciated that they encourage you not to over-customize. Their combinations are designed so you can taste each ingredient the way it's intended. We went with **the Suicida and the Golosa**, and both were absolutely delicious. Each had its own personality, with layers of flavor that somehow worked perfectly together without becoming overwhelming. There's something about standing in line on a little Florentine street, watching these sandwiches being prepared, and then taking that first bite that makes the whole experience even better.

By the time we arrived and scoped out the Duomo, we were definitely ready for lunch. We were walking down the crowded cobblestone streets and decided that wanted a sandwich for lunch. We made a quick left turn and saw a line of people waiting. We weren't necessarily sure what they were waiting for until we inquired. Most people were waiting for sandwiches - SCORE! We decided to get in line and realized how quickly the line was moving. Traffic was being moved by their workers who were assisting with menu suggestions. We quickly got up to the front of the establishment and realized how tiny it is inside. It was so cool to see an actual Italian deli in action. From what I heard, they source their ingredients from local farmers, too! I ordered the La Rosa and my husband ordered the Gregorio (in honor of our friend Greg!). We waited outside for a few minutes while they prepared our order. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious and the bread was surprisingly crispy. The cost was super reasonable, too, for how much food you are getting. We will be back!

November 9, 2024 2:30PM…read more It does appear they have two stalls on the same street that you can order from. One side seemed to have more alcohol on display and the side I was on was more sandwich focused, but I'm pretty sure you can order the same things from both windows. Initially I was going to get the 21 - Fresh Sausage and Eggplant because I'm an eggplant lover... the lady at the counter was kind enough to let me know that the fresh sausage is actually rare, uncooked sausage and gave me a small piece to try. I was getting ready to get on a train that day and didn't want something that might not sit well with me, so I moved on to number 27 spicy salami and cream cheese. My partner got the number 1, ham, cream cheese and rocket salad. Both are very good sized and oh so delicious. The line moved quickly, so many options for decision paralysis. This is the place for schiacciate Florentine as recommended from friends who used to live here. Definitely would recommend to study up their menu before coming so it's easier to pick what you want. This is more of a stall and you grab and go, we stood around the sidewalk and inhaled our sandwiches. Watch out for the pigeons getting ready to take your crumbs too, you can see them on the ledge of the building getting ready to attack. A must visit for Florence.

The line is long right around lunch time but it moves fairly fast. They have a variety of choices so you might need time to decide. The roasted ham is tasty and the truffle cream adds a lovely flavor and ties the dish together. Finocchiona E Crema De Formaggio- Can't sing enough of their bread's praises! The tuscan salami is spicy and flavorful. The fennel is slightly sweet and the cream cheese is smooth and light. Great experience overall!

We needed to try these sandwiches. So after a brief discussion with the guy manning the window (they roast the pigs outside the city, and just serve them here - it's not a large space) we got three of them. The classic, the one with the truffles, and the spicy one. We cut them all up, and presented them to our larger group as a porchetta tasting. The verdict? They are all winners. Every single sandwich was good. However, they didn't taste as different as one might think. The porchetta itself overrides the truffle/spice, and while that's not a bad thing, I think I'd like a little more of the sauce on each. Do with that what you will, but you should probably get at least one. Maybe not three.
