As an American in NZ, I usually find the donut options here to leave me wanting (even the US chain donut shops here in Hamilton). And then, then I had a donut from Mama's and the outlook for donuts in Hamilton got much brighter. Now, there are a few things about the business that bother me (mostly that they are only open for part of the week. So, if you want donuts on Thursday morning, you're in luck. If you want one Monday morning, you need to wait until Thursday morning. That silliness aside, the donuts are worth waiting for. The flavor combinations range from simple and tradition to more fancy, but the point is, there is no bad choice in the shop. Even the little donut holes are great. The shop is not near to the CBD, so you probably near a car to get to it, but believe me, it is more than worth your time to go a bit out of the way for these beauties. read more
