Mama's a true gem in Natchitoches. It is on my must visit list each time I come to town. It's the perfect spot to grab a bite and/or a drink. The oysters are amazing and always taste fresh. Raw, grilled or stuffed, they have something for anyone looking to enjoy oysters. The rest of the menu is pretty robust from the appetizers to the platters. Some of my favorites include the alligator bites, boudin rolls, grilled chicken wrap, catfish platter and the bayou fettuccine. The bayou fettuccine could use a bit more seasoning. The drinks are also pretty solid. The first time I visited I had a smoked old fashioned. Ellie smoked it for me at the table and even asked what kind of wood chips I preferred. I also appreciate that you can get drinks to go. The staff is attentive and quick. The vibe in the restaurant is always a good time. The decor on the wall is fun. Already looking forward to my next visit

    Bbq shrimp

Well, we stopped by Mama's and both ordered the Bbq shrimp. I will say that it was good, but did not have the flavor of other bbq shrimp dishes that I've enjoyed. The bbq shrimp at Mamas was in a sauce that tastes more like a butter/garlic sauce. We also had a Bloody Mary and it was fixed just right.

The place was a nice respite from the heat. The food was just okay. We had crawfish rolls and a catfish po boy.

We are in Natchitoches for a few days of vacation. About 6:30, without a reservation, we started looking for dinner. On a whim, we walked into Mama's. It is a casual, fun, and lively venue. It looks like they took two store fronts and opened up the wall in the back to join the two. Each has its own bar. The south room, where you enter the restaurant, has a long bar. The north dining room has a short bar. Mama's was packed, but we were abel to be seated without waiting at the short bar. We both ordered the lite catfish meal, a cup of shrimp and corn bisque, and a draft Yuengling. The catfish was very good, and the size of the serving was adequate. It came with fries that were excellent. The fries were hardy steak fries with a twist. The fries are meaty and crispy. The shrimp and corn bisque was excellent. It's very tasty with a little kick. The service was good. It was a little noisy, and the prices are on the top end of the moderate scale. It was fun, and we enjoyed both dinner and venue.

I have written off Mama's over the years due to their complete inconsistency from one visit to the next! The last few years it has been more misses than hits... this trip was a complete hit and everything was great! It was a five star visit but I'm only going to give 4 stars because of the previous 2 & 3 star performances! I'm actually afraid to go back out of fear of being disappointed my next visit!

Well don't go to this Oyster House and order oysters. It's 6:45pm on Saturday a holiday weekend and they are out of oysters. Plus a festival in town. Sounds like poor planning to me. Shame shame shame.

    Oysters Rockefeller

Restaurant is located next to their sister restaurants down on Front St and seems like a locals place, but will also get the tourist crowd. I didn't have much luck finding a menu online or via my phone, so the only semi-accurate one is the photo from 2020 here on Yelp. Staff was very attentive and bent over backwards for our requests. Decent price of $10 for a 20 oz strawberry daiquiri. Not sure if this is all the time or a special. But you can't go wrong. Oysters Rockefeller for half a dozen as an appetizer and came with tiny French toast slices. The broiler was said to be halfway working that day, so that might have affected the taste. With so many options, I'll probably try something else though, if/when I return. The Garden Salad with grilled chicken had great flavor. Could be more than a meal for some and was a great deal. It's not listed on the menu, but there are hard-boiled eggs that come with it. We were able to customize our child's pasta, so our little one was very happy about that. Nearly at the whole bowl. New Orleans BBQ Shrimp could light your tongue on fire if you are sensitive to spice. The shrimp came butterflied bathing in their delicious BBQ sauce. I should have asked for a spoon to eat it. Came along with the standard potatoes, corn, and hushpuppies. If your down in the area, don't leave this out as one of your options.

The customer service and new options are top tier.

You're not a true Louisianan if you don't crave this cuisine. And sometimes other places that offer it make it too pricey or too spicy or too over-done. Not here! 'Boy howdy,' did this spot get it right & sail the flavor boat around the world without stopping!! Quick & friendly service. Lots of options with a la cart goodness. Seasoning that was JUST RIGHT!! Heat and warmth lasted throughout the meal so mine didn't get cold quickly. Sassy (which tastes buttery and salty) or Swamp (think Yum-Yum) sauces are fine selections to dredge the goods. My goodness, I forgot all about the competition across town at first bite. My crawfish claws and tails were SO fresh and tender I could easily crack it or pull out the meat and suck the umami juices. And when sucking the heads, the clear hint of lemon was there, just slap yo' mama already!! As we sat and ate, car after car after car pulled in and this was mid-afternoon, no lunch rush. People have been getting the memo that this Cajun spot is the place to go. Plus, the shrimp are YYYYUGE!!!! Only down side: not enough places to eat. Just the bar. The stools with no backs are hurting the hiney after an hour-long feeding and a thorough cleaning had to be requested as well as some paper towels/napkins at the minimal bar area to sit and chow. May I suggest more open and spaced seating arrangements could be added? T-Johnny's will be my go-to in Natchitoches in the quadruple parish area & it should be yours too--totally worth it!

Could be very good, but over seasons and oversalts everything fried. This is based on several…read morevisits.

I've had and they were tender. We gotta order Boudin balls. They put cheese in it. I like cheese. but cheese has no place in a Boudin ball. This was mid range because of the cheese the booty balls are huge though I was actually full after I ate them, my son got a catfish Poboy I tried the catfish. It was actually really good. I got tripping grits. I love shrimp and grits other people at the table tripping grits those grits were horrible no flavor the tea.
